At Sola, our mission is to be regarded as an outstanding fine dining destination & a valued treasure of the Main Line & greater community.
We strive to serve contemporary cuisine in an intimate & pleasing room with the proper level of service (not too much, not too little). We want our guests to enjoy the window of time that they spend with us, savoring their food & wine & enjoying the company of their friends & family.
Our intent is to always remain a BYOB, knowing how important that is to many of our guests. Sola will provide a dynamic menu, driven by what is available fresh for the season. The expectation is that everyone will find a number of choices that appeal to their palate.
Our wish is that most of our guests will become regulars & will view us a spot they can enthusiastically recommend to their friends & can rely on when hosting visitors.

The place is small, so it definitely would be tough for a large group, but that is part of the reason we really like having dinner at Sola."

  • "We came here for a birthday celebration and I have to say we basically licked our plates at the end. The short rib was extremely juicy and tender. We also ordered the cheese plate and I was very impressed with not only the quality but the variety they chose to serve which whet my pallet just right. I will definitely go back to Sola and tell all my friends about it."

  • "Great food however a little bit expensive for the location. Apps, dinner and dessert were all excellent. Service was very well done as well. Location in an older building is a contrast to the quality of the food. Street parking was easy during the middle of the week on a summer night when the restaurant only had two or three tables taken, however I'm sure that it can be a challenge when the place is busy."

  • "Crawfish angel hair pasta was bursting with flavor . Hanger steak was simply perfect , very tasty charbroiled crispy on the outside and rare on the inside, beautifully sliced on top of thin cut roast beets. The sauce can't quite remember what is was but I remember being pleasantly surprised as I thought is may be bland....it was not. Think we are going back tonight! I feel this restaurant is not recognized as much as it should be for the quiet elegance of it's food. It's not "sexy" just really really delicious."

  • "We went to Sola for the first time last weekend. We loved that it was a BYO and close to our home. The food was so good and well presented, except for the appetizers. They were a bit skimpy and a bit overpriced. We had the caesar(arugula sale with caesar dressing ) and it was nothing special. The main courses were superb. Everyone in our party had a different fish dish and we all loved it. Service was great too. We will definitely head back a give the appetizers another try."

  • "Been a few times. Everything has been good or very good and a few dishes have been exceptional. The foie was so tasty, one of us ordered it as an app, than again for entrée (double portion). The veal chops special was indeed. Other gems included the Caesar salad, shortrib, chocolate gateau and fried apple pie. The service could not have been better or more accommodating. My friend, in town from Austin was so ecstatic she almost cried when we left."

  • "At this small BYOB restaurant, the room was rather cramped-tight spaces between tables. Ordered halibut, which came with a nice brown crust but was ice cold in the center of the thick piece of fish. The thai-inspired sauce was nice, but scant. They were nicely comped us a dessert because of the fish, which was a nice creme brulee. I would try it again."

  • "We've been at Sola several times and have never been disappointed, and never rated below "Outstanding". But this time there was an accident in the kitchen which caused our 2 course meal to take well over 2.5 hours. There were lots of apologies, but some extras (appetizers, desserts, ...) would have kept us going, especially since the portions are so small."

  • "I wanted a smaller venue, outstanding food and wonderful service. Sola is all this and more. They could not have been more accommodating with special requests, resulting in a lovely and very special birthday dinner. The scallop appetizer with white beans, english peas and chorizo was excellent and a perfect portion size. My Goddaughter didn't leave anything on her plate of grilled Salmon. I was in heaven with a delicious blend of onions & roasted peppers accompaning a melt in your mouth Braised Short Rib and assorted roasted potatoes. Desserts, yes we had those as well~it was a birthday, after all! :) We ordered a trio of sorbets & the cheesecake. Both were delicious, creamy & addictive, we may have finished them all. Thank you, Sola!"

  • "Three long time friends dined for a birthday celebration. It was wonderful. The staff was attentive. The food was excellent. We ordered 3 different things all to share. All equally good and would be ordered again. It was a great choice in regard to the food and location. Had no problem polishing off that chocolate dessert that they wrote happy birthday across the plate. A nice touch. "

  • "My husband and I have had dinner there several times for special occasions and always leave very happy. The owner is very friendly and eager to satisfy his customers. This last dinner we enjoyed the seared scallop appetizer and blue cheese salad- both were delicious. We also both loved our entrees- the steak au poivre special and braised short ribs. "

  • "The cod was disappointing - overcooked, tough and tasteless; the chorizo was dry and hard; the mild curry broth was too thin and watery. Butterfish was good. Pea soup was pretty but tasteless. Seasonal salad good. Scallop appetizer excellent. Ice cream/sorbet excellent. Service intrusive with partner a little needy for affirmation - repeatedly stopping by our table to interrupt to ask how everything was. Otherwise service was fine. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "The food and service after we were seated were both great. The only criticism of the night was that because we arrived about 10 minutes early relative to our reservation, we were told that we'd be seated at the actual time of our reservation. However we were not seated until 15 minutes after the time of the reservation which made the total wait 25 minutes. Small detail but both the food and service were excellent otherwise. We also love that it's a BYOB."

  • "We were sat in a very dark corner near the crockery cupboard and the waiters kept knocking past the back of my chair. I ordered the Skate Cheaks as an appertiser. Always good to try something new but these were very dissapointing. Mushy, without texture and no flavour at all. The entres took quite a while to come out too. This was due to a mix up in the kitchen apparently, which can happen to anyone. Just a shame that it happened in conjunction with all of the above. The Lamb Shanks were great though."

I had the lamb shank which was delicious and my bride had the Hawaiian Butterfish. Both meals were great. We will definitely be back. Make a reservation, you will definitely need it.   • "This was my second time dining at Sola having had an excellent meal about 1 year ago. This time, I found the food less interesting and less flavorful. My girlfriend for an appetizer had the spring salad which was fresh, crispy, but not particularly noteworthy. I had the pickled beet and goat cheese salad which was probably the best part of my meal. For our entrees, she had the pork tenderloin with mustard sauce which was juicy, spicy but not overly so, and tender. I had arctic char (a special of the day) which was very uninteresting. This was prepared well but had very little flavor. For $30, I expected to be a little more impressed."

It is a BYOB and, in consequence, a bit less expensive than its quality might suggest.   • "My friends and I were warmly welcomed to Sola. The observant waiter opened the wines and made sure that everyone had refills when needed. He explained the specials and took our orders when we were ready. We had two people in our party with allergies, The server made suggestions for substitutions and the chef made sure everyone had a delicious dinner. The desserts were all made in-house, and I was served a sampling of their delicious sorbets in honor of my birthday. Everyone at the party agreed that Sola is a great restaurant."

Something for everyone on the menu. I would not recommend it for children, however (too gourmet for them), unless they have a separate children's menu."

The food was very good , although my soup could have been hotter. Portion sizes were perfect and food nicely flavored."
