Sol Cocina2nd visit in one vacationWe loved our lunch here so much that we returned for dinner a few days later, as our vacation ended. Noise level at night was very loud, but that did not affect anything else. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable, and fun! Sol Cocina is the gem of all gems. Great service - WITHOUT A DOUBT. Friendly faces - ALL THE TIME. Great drinks - ONE WORD: BULLDOG. Delicious food - IT'S A GIVEN. There has never been a time that i have been to Sol Cocina and been disappointed and I am always proud to share this gem with friends so that, they too, become fans. Our server John with the amazing hari was attentive and kind and the restaurant was so accomadating when my friends and I were stuck in traffic and unable to meet the reservation time. I brought my parents for the first time and my father is a hard critic when it comes to food. He lived his ceviche. We come from a very big Mexican family and we are familiar with Mexican inspired food. My request was not granted, and we were seated at a booth inside near a window. The patio was not full until 11:30ish, when we were leaving. The view is still great, but this is the second time this has happened. Sol should fulfill their guests' requests so their service level matches the quality of their food and drinks! I had the sweet potato/black bean tacos - yummy! The bean dip w/chips & salsa was awesome! The Natural guacamole rocks - a little spicy - loved it! The Organic agave margarita was tasty too! And, the chocolate nachos with vanilla bean ice cream was to die for! Little cinnamon chips covered in chocolate and topped with a scoop of heaven! Fat free, right? We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the evening! Beautiful place, great food, impeccable service! It was way too noisy for us to catch up and chat. Although it's on the water, there's not much of a view--some boats tied up at a dock. Pleasant but not fabulous.
The food was great. The service was friendly and for the most part terrific, but for some reason at the end of the meal our waiter disappeared, and it took us a long time and a couple of requests to get our check. Then we got the wrong check.
We decided not to stay for dessert because we wanted to, you know, actually talk to one another.

Enjoyed everything in fact except the energy level of the server. Great guy, very competent and knowledgeable about the food items. However, we were there to slow down, relax, and enjoy some family time. He on the other hand was operating at a much faster speed. Has us looking at each other when he left our table and wondering what was so urgent. I'll chalk this up to just being "one of those days" for the server. Any time we are in the area, we make sure to eat there at least twice!!! We're so excited that a new location has opened in Arizona, and will be frequenting that location on our yearly trips to the area. We had made reservations through OT and had requested a window sear for our anniversary. We were seated right away but at a bar table that happened to be outside. When we explained that we did not want to sit on stools next to the bar, the young woman clearly had no idea what to do even though there were empty tables that would have met our request. We were finally seated and the rest of the evening was great: wonderful server (Tony), great food options (the chicken and cheese enchiladas were a riff on enchiladas suisa and were delicious, my strawberry basil martini was amazing, the dinner salad was great and the comp dessert of sweet chips with chocolate and whipped cream was divine.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mexican food, great placeIt was my first time at SOL, though I had heard some positive reviews before I dined here. I took some very foodie friends who were visiting from Bermuda. We all love Mexican food and really were hungry. We absolutely LOVED this restaurant!! The food was so tasty -- definitely made of all fresh ingredients and with the best blend of spices. We shared a flight of street tacos and really savored the chicken mole entree. Even the rice and beans tasted special. The margaritas were made of fresh lime juice and that made all the difference. It was also an electric atmosphere with lots of buzz and attentive service.
