Sofrito-MidtownSofrito is, pound per pound,Sofrito is, pound per pound, the finest restaurant in New York. The food is superb, plentiful, and sophisticated. Puerto Rican food is at its best here, as it is probably the finest Puerto Rican restaurant in the world. The staff is very efficient and makes everyone feel welcome. The only things missing are the original De La Vega murals, which were destroyed by customers. Hopefully, De La Vega will return to re-do the murals and they can be covered by glass to preserve them. The tostones and cazuela de mariscos were superb as were the mojitos.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with a group of 5 toWent with a group of 5 to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The food was delicious! Loved that they played great music but we were still able to have a conversation. Quality and quantity of the food was a great value for the price. My husband got the pargo al horno, I had the shrimp mofongo and the pernil is enough for a small village. We would definately go back.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my friend her for herI took my friend her for her birthday, great good and entertainment.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLarge portions and Good FoodWent to Sofrito for Easter dinner with a group from Puerto Rico. They thought almost everything was great! We had multiple appetizers (chicharron, bacaloa, empanados with chicken and cheese, sorullitos), sancocho and for entrees the grilled shrimp and mofongo, bistec and the snapper. All of the portions were huge! For dessert, we split the flan con queso and the tres leches. We all really enjoyed the tres leches but the only dish that disappointed was the flan - my party thought it tasted like it was store bought and it did not live up to the rest of the meal. The service was pretty good but not outstanding.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food as always. LoveGreat food as always. Love love love the coconut mojito!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
