Diner Reviews
  • "This was an all around treat! The food was amazing and well prepared. The staff was warm and inviting. We came on a visit to AC and would totally do it again. Great find!"

  • "You can always count on fantastic huge chunks lump crab in appetizer, great shrimp, wonderful greek appetizers like smooth eggplant and warm soft pita, great greek salad; lambchops are always great - two choices - small and large - with different preps, bronzino; huband loves the greek coffee; beautiful decor, great bar area if you want to arrive before your reservation with very good singers and entertainment - just always a very good experience."

  • "Our server was amazing. My husband's side is Greek and the food was comparable and delish. I thought the Saganaki was fun and the portions were large. kali Orexi!"

  • "I realize most of the other reviews are several years old, and perhaps things have changed at Sofia, but we did not find any of the negative concerns posted. We arrived 10 minutes late, but were treated like celebrities, even being given a "special" table. The decor is a mix of modern and medieval and the tree in the bar is beautiful. A live singer in the bar area was a nice touch. The food was wonderful (octopus and lamb chops), the wine was choice. There was a large birthday party in the other room which did add to the clamor, but also added to the "festive mood". Entrees were $30 and up, but for a special treat, worth the visit to Sofia. Would recommend Sofia with a reservation placed through OpenTable."

  • "I'm a first timer @ Sofia's. I'd heard a lot about it and had been wanting to go for a long time. Friends rave about Sofia's! Besides haveing an excellent Bloody Mary, the lamb leg with risotto was to die for. REALLY EXCELLENT!!! Not to menton the Spanicopita (sp.?) WOW! never tasted this one as good ANYWHERE. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • "We like Sophia's and have eaten there frequently, but this dinner was not positive. It was Restaurant Week and very crowded. We were seated more than 20 minutes past our reservation time and waited another 30 minutes to get menus and drinks. Our server, who was trying hard, was serving at least seven tables. He said that some servers had not come in and there were two large parties upstairs. However, the group next to us, seated 30 minues after us, got their dinner first. Also, some of the food was cooked more quickly than it typically is and was presented differently than usual. To compensate for the delays, they gave us a complementary dessert sampler. I realize that it was an unusual experience and we will certainly return."

  • "We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was good, but probably not as good as regular menu. My filet medalians were overcooked. Desserts were very good. Glad we had a chance to try, but will probably only go back for a special occasion."

  • "Our group of four totally enjoyed our meal - the food was delicious. Our only complaint was that our drinks arrived after our appetizers. One man ordered a scotch, and when it finally arrived declined it - he did not want to drink it with his meal. Drinks should arrive before appetizers - with some time to enjoy before food.We were dining leisurely!"

  • "First time dining here, and despite being Restaurant Week and very crowded, the service was very efficient and the food delicious. Well rounded and reasonably priced wine list. Lovely decor. Will make Sofia a regular dining spot at the Shore."

  • "The food was fantastic! We loved the entire meal. However, we were very disappointed to be sitting next to a very vulgar patron who appeared to be well known to the staff and owner. It was shocking to us that this man was allowed to speak in such a manor next to dining tables. He should have been directed to the bar. Service was great until the end of the meal. We waited over 20 minutes to pay our check. At that time there were several people waiting to be seated for their meals. Sofia's has incredible food but lacks efficiency and organization."

  • "First time at Sofia's for me. Delicious Greek dishes. The lamb shank on orzo was just delectable. I will go back."

  • "I was looking forward to catching up with friends that I hadn't seen in a while. My friends and I have very high standards for food. So, I was very satisfied with our delicious dinner. There are quite a few delicious restaurants in my area, but many are small and loud. I selected Sophia's because there are several rooms and lots of space between tables, which allows each party to have their own space and allows each person to hear the other people at the table. There were six of us and one of my friends is hard of hearing, but that was not a problem at Sophia's."

  • "Although this was in our own backyard, it was the first time we had tried it because of Restaurant week. Four of us had dined and each of us raved about our meal. We can't wait to go back. It was definitely a five-star meal!"

  • "3rd year for Restaurant Week, 6th actual visit. Menu selections were not very appetizing. Felt guilty because I invited the office staff and the ony person out of 9 to enjoy their meal selected from the regular menu."

  • "We heard raves about Sofia's and we're very disappointed My husband had octopus that was burned. The server was told about the octopus but didn't care. I had a Greek salad that was average. Our dishes were not cleared from the table after we were done each course. Service was horrible."

  • "DO NOT go here during the summer. There is NO parking. Service slow and poor. Entrees served with no silverware. Servers did not come back to take dessert orders, but the hostess was hovering (so the table could be turned for another party). Finally, we flagged down a server to order dessert and coffee (this was a 95th birthday, remember) and 15 minutes later the surprised arrived--they said that they were OUT OF DESSERT AND COFFEE!!! At 9pm. NOT a good way to turn a table. The hostess (who may be an owner) was totally RUDE. Their lack of parking and terrible service caused our delay and then to refuse dessert and coffee for a birthday is inexcusable. I have had other problems with this restaurant in the past and will not return."

  • "Food was disappointing.....atmosphere great.......singer was awesome. I would go back to listen to the singer and have a drink and appetizer, but that's all. The food was fair, and the lobster was tasteless! A lot of money for a mediocre meal."

  • "My Fiance and I recently dined at Sofia's and we were quite impressed. The restaurant has a romantic and intimate feel to it and the food is excellent. We went there on a Saturday night and there was a female singing live music in the bar area."

  • "Love coming here esp friday nights, wonderful singer at the bar sounds exactly like Adele. You can hear it in the dining room. Love the raw bar and great Mediterranean and Greek appetizers and salads. You could just stop there. They have great lamb chops, sometimes short ribs and many fresh fish offerings. Great Greek coffee and desserts too. Prettiest restaurant on the island."

  • "I chose this restaurant because I had not been there before, and we like to choose different restaurants for birthday dinners with friends. We were all happy with dinner, drinks and service. Providing a dessert to the birthday girl was a nice touch."

  • "This restaurant is at the very top of the chain. The quality is beyond compare. This place makes a real statement of luxury at a very reasonable price. The staff is unewualed at any shore restaurant. If you have never been there...don't miss it! if you've already been there then you know what I mean."

  • "We went to Sophias on Labor Day and had a wonderful evening. It was not very crowded since everyone was leaving the beach for the summer. The restaurant is owned/run by Greeks and they are delightful. The decor is probably the nicest in the area. They are located right on the bay but there isn't a water view from inside the restaurant. They market themselves as a Greek restaurant and they have some nice authentic greek food but there is something for everyone. We all asked ourselves "why don't we come here more often" and made a pledge to return more frequently."
