The staff is helpful and courteous, the food is delicious and the décor is quite nice. WE recently went for Mother's Day and all steaks were cooked to perfect mediums! Quite the accomplishment. It rivals Capital Grille in my mind, has a better selection of other foods and you get your potato and vegetable which is key!

There are many upscale restaurants with snoppy wait staff and expensive bills at the end in the city, but while Sofia is on par with the quality of food and ambiance, the wait staff are much more friendly and price here cannot be beaten. The staff is very professional, the service excellent, and the food is always delicious. Saturday evenings are quite popular so we opt for Sundays sometimes for a quieter dining experience. We have introduced several friends and family members to this establishment and they have all continued to patronize them as well. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, BUT I AM NOT SURE I CAN GO BACK THERE WITH SO SO SO MUCH NOISE. THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. PUT UP PLEXIGLASS DIVIDERS AROUND THE BAR AND BETWEEN THE ROWS. IT WOULD HELP A LOT TO CUT DOWN ON THE NOISE. I THINK A LOT OF IT WAS FROM THE BAR, BUT THERE WAS PLENTY OF NOISE FROM OTHER TABLES AS WELL.

In terms of the menu, it is not a foodie haven but a good place to go for an expansive Italian/American menu,a good (and sometimes great) meal and terrific service (both in the kitchen and from the wait staff). I have had calamari many times and I have to say Sofia's is by far superior to others I have had and the portion size was not skimpy. I had the lamb chops, au gratin potatoes and arugula for my main entree, my friend had the Seafood Fra Diavlo. We were both amazed at the huge portion size. We both took left overs home. For dessert I had the raspberry sorbet and it was chock full of berries and so delcious. My friend had cheesecake. this was the only thing I did not care for. It was way creamier and less dense than most cheesecakes I've had. Everything was beautifully presented and loaded with flavor. This was my second visit, once on a date and this time with friends. I asked to sit in the room set off to the side that has the fireplace. Great choice! We had the Crab Cake and Calamari Appetizer which were both delicious as well as filling. Dinner was a much harder decision, even for Restaurant Week, since the menu was extensive and inviting. We finally chose the Double-Cut Lamb Chops and Seafood Diavolo Lobster which was so enormous I had to get a doggy bag. When it was time for dessert we immediately asked for it to go. There was a long menu and the four things we ordered each were hits. Obviously lots of steak, but a good variety of other items as well. Portions were huge and none of us could finish.
At least among the four things we got, none of them hit us with WOW, we've got to go back and have that again, but each were good enough to want us to return to see what else might be in store for us.
We got there at 7:30 on a Friday night and there was no parking. We circled a few times and then finally parked down a couple of stores, past the lot that said they would tow.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food!!!This was our first time at Sofia's so I didn't know what to expect. I had heard great things about it so we decided to try it out. The parking is a bit of an issue but they offer a free valet so that was very convenient. You definitely have to make a reservation because the place was packed and it was Saturday night. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we got a drink at the bar and were seated after approximately 10 minutes. The waitress was very nice explained a few things on the menu to us.
We ended up getting the prime rib and the chicken saltibocca. Both were AMAZING. For a started we got the stuffed meatballs and they were great as well. The food was definitely worth the price!

Service left something to be desired - our waitress did not know anything about any of the wines and was dumbfounded at us asking. Said she'd get us samples but could not. Told us sides with the entrees were "$3-$4" but they were actually same price as appetizers ($9-$12), did not offer to discount the difference. And we asked to take the bone home from the 22oz Delmonico steak we ordered - she did not include this in our 'to-go' plate. She did not seem very enthusiastic to be honest.
Again, overall, the food was spot on and the bumps aside, the waitress being average did not ruin what was overall a great meal and experience!
