The scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly and my salad (southwestern, i think) was very tasty as well. We sat outside and really enjoyed the neighborhood, its such a nice gem.
The service was ok. I know that people in Reno aren't used to dining for multiple hours, but we felt pushed to order when we weren't ready. It was so nice outside that we just wanted to sit and enjoy our drinks for a while, before actually eating. I would recommend the servers ask and try to get a feel about how their patrons would like to be served.
Regardless, I'll be back and happy that there's a great local restaurant.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favorite restaurant in RenoI love that Reno is generating new restaurants that feature fresh and local ingredients and nontraditional fare. Lately I've been making an effort to try a new one at least once per month. Frankly, although some are great, I haven't been blown away by any of them--that is until now. SoDo is amazing! Instead of an entree, I ordered to appetizers: Calamari and Scallops. The Scallops were served with a very subtle balsamic drizzle on a bed of fresh sliced strawberries. Some how these melt in your mouth scallops were infused with the strawberry essence. The spicy Calamari were hands down the most tender I've ever eaten anywhere in the world, and are served with a delicious aioli sauce.
