  • "Anjelica's Surprise UCLA Graduation Dinner at Sodini's Bertolucci's was a success thanks to the accommodation and very good service and good food! I contacted them the last minute because the surprise guests went from seven people to twenty-two and they made it work superbly. The wine and food selections are wonderful. Check their menu as everyone of the guests ordered almost everything and stated "very good". The server was great and always upbeat. Keep up the good work!"

  • "Another great meal at this great find in South San Francisco where the servers are warm and friendly but not in that coached way - they really mean it. Backed up by bar staff that knows how to make all the old school drinks as well as a few new ones at reasonable prices. The food here is consistently good and you leave full without a giant hole in your wallet, its like North Beach only with free parking!"

  • "The service we had was wonderful -- I would nearly reccomend this place on that alone. Although we were later for our reservation, we were taken care of immediately (even though it was packed on a Saturday night). The waiter was knowledgeable, and his recommendation to my fiancé was one of the best meals he's ever had (and he can be quite picky) The atmosphere was classy, yet not stuffy. Dishes were cleared quicky, but not annoyingly so and the check came when we asked for it. I highly recommend Bertolucci's for any occasion, date night, or even of you're simply looking for a nice meal."

  • "We selected this restaurant through TripAdvisor while on a quick visit to South San Francisco. It was highly rated & close to our hotel. It was bustling & had that happy Italian family feel. The service was very good (our server just needed a reminder on our dessert) & the food delicious & well-priced for the portion-size & quality. If I lived here, this would be a favorite destination."

  • "If you are looking for a traditional Italian restaurant (with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin as background music), look no further. Very attentive service (thank you, Jeremy!), excellent pasta (fresh ingredients and great presentation), and a lovely bottle of Sangiovese. Most of the crowd on an early Friday evening appeared to be regulars, which speaks volumes."

  • "We haven't been back here in 25 years. According to my recollection, the place looks very similar. The food is pretty average as was the service. The portions were a little on the small side in relation to the price. Overall, a very average dining experience, which was probably the reason we didn't frequent this restaurant."

  • "My order and my mom's orders were unacceptable as far as Restaurant Food. both pasta dishes. her's Ghonni pesto, no flavor. mine angel hair with roasted garlic. horrible presentation and even worst eating it. my girlfriends tutto mare was good and I think the other girls veal parmesan was ok. yet, 2 bad dishes out of 4 is unacceptable to Me. For the price they charge; well even if they charged half the price; I am shocked @ what they served Me!!!!!! & they knew it was My birthday; and didn't even mention.. not impressed @ all. denise"

  • "We go to Bertolucci's for special occasions, and we have never walked away disappointed. We've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years (before and after their remodeling). The staff is always professional and accommodating, yet friendly and warm, and the service is always outstanding....water glasses are filled without having to ask and staff will always ask about beverage refills before you have to ask. The cuisine is always excellent, and we've never walked away feeling like the kitchen had an off night...the good is consistently delicious and excellent in presentation. By far, one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area and I look forward to our next dining experience at Bertolucci's."

  • "This has become our go to Italian and Steak restaurant. The spaghetti is always served al dente and the meatballs are spiced to perfection. The New York steaks are always cooked to perfection. The veal is tender enough to cut with a fork. The desserts are a must. Rooms for improvement, the upgrade charge from polenta to three ravioli is a bit over priced at a dollar a piece, and the wine pours always seem to be on the light side."

  • "This was my first time to this restaurant. As soon as you step past the door's threshold, you could tell that it's a local favorite. This is true comfort food. The foccacia bread was a nice starter. The buttery polenta was absolutely delicious. The service was great! I would definitely do a return visit."

  • "We hadn't been to Bertolucci's in a very long time and went there on the suggestion of a friend. Read some of the reviews on Yelp and they were mixed. Although the décor doesn't look like it has changed, the food was very good and I appreciate getting a choice of soup or salad with a meal. Our server, Jeremy, was very good and attentive and the food prices were reasonable. Although there were crowds waiting for a table, we didn't feel rushed and everything came in a timely manner. It was a very pleasant experience."

  • "Bertolucci's is my "go to" Italian restaurant for very good, down home, Italian food. I have been their many times and never had a bad meal. The veal dishes are outstanding. Two of my favorites are the veal parmigiana and veal saltimboca. Not much atmosphere, but just good food. Serving staff if very friendly and polite."

  • "We met friends here for dinner before they left for home from SFO. It took us almost an hour to get to South San Francisco but the dinner was worth the drive. The service we received from everyone at Bertolucci's was excellent. Although the menu is diverse, and they did not offer what my hubby wanted-chicken piccata-he thoroughly enjoyed the chicken Marsala. All six in our group were very happy with their choices. Entrees include a nice salad, vegetables and creamy polenta. I have dairy allergies and was offered several alternate choices to the polenta. The ony down side was that we probably would have had a bit of trouble finding our way to the restaurant without our GPS. Would we go back to Bertolucci's? Yes!"

  • "The main dishes were less than satisfying, steak was tough, vegetables were ok, polenta was ok, veal parm was dry, pasta was flavorless. Service was good, atmosphere was good, French bread was good, all else fell below good, average at best."

  • "We had tickets to a concert on the Peninsula and didn't know where to eat nearby, so checked out Open Table's suggestions and landed at Sodini's Bertolucci's. Good thing we got there at 5:00! It was Saturday night and within the hour the place filled to overflowing. Our female waiter was so attentive and genuinely friendly that we remarked on it between ourselves and also mentioned it to her. And the food was out of this world -- the bechamel sauce on my lasagne was perfect and my friend's osso bucco was too. Highly recommended for traditional Italian fare and convivial atmosphere."

  • "I love this place! Great food, wait staff are attentive and friendly, fun, lively, casual atmosphere, great for families or date night. Chicken Parmesan is my favorite dish. They also give you lots of delicious fresh baked bread and focaccia while you wait for your food.. The focaccia is like little pieces of pizza, so delicious. Highly recommend."

  • "As an older diner, It is sometimes a good thing to go some place where "as it was" is still a part of the experience. Having said that, this place has plenty of much younger guests, making for a well balanced clientele. A piano player works the bar, and the bar pours a respectable drink in a warm, friendly setting. The dining room is just the right size...tables and booths spaced to allow talking without shouting. The food is good, Italian American, well presented, and well served. Menu pricing is fair, and the wine list has affordable choices. Whether you are there for a special occasion, or as a regular (there seem to be plenty of those), or just because you are looking for a good meal, this is a solid choice."

  • "I've lived in the area of Bertoluccis all my 62 years and never ventured there but decided to give it a try. Wow, a nice surprise to get that old-style Italian charm there! The interior ambiance definately has a 70's feel, but is well maintained and clean. Our martini's were perfectly prepared. Our entrees, although not especially imagiatively prepared, had good flavors, but a little underseasoned-- easily taken care of with a little salt and pepper. Our waitress was very polished in service--always there and prompt when we needed something, but never in the way. The bar area included live, easy-listing piano music, making it inviting to stay around for an after-dinner drink and wind down to the music. We can't wait to return."
