Diner Reviews
  • "I love this place. Everything is always great. Had been raving to a friend about it for a while & finally got to take her. SHE LOVES IT!"

  • "Great Restaurant and fantastic food. I went for both dinner and brunch. Be sure to make your reservation ahead of time and also arrive on time."

  • "I went to this place with my boyfriend for the first time. We made reservations because we heard it is usually full. We got there at 12 noon and there was already a line of people for opening time. We got in immediately because we did have reservations, but I would suggest to make reservations for 12n since it's opening time and you probably won't have to wait for a table. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was amazing! The buttermilk chicken with red velvet waffles was great and so was the chicken sandwich. My bf is a picky eater and he was eating things that he would never normally eat there. We left with full tummies. There were groups and couples there."

  • "I'd come back for their cornbread all day. I had an omelette and home fries. Was not super impressed with either. Actually didn't eat much of the home fries. Tried the chicken and red velvet waffles from my friend and that was delicious! Have to come back for that cornbread and to try the Mac and cheese. Overall good experience and ambiance."

  • "We arrived 11 minutes late for our reservation and were told that it was cancelled after 10. After practically begging to get a seat, they said okay, but then took another 15 minutes to get our table ready. I don't understand why time matters to them, but not us. The food presentation was lovely! Loved the Caesar salad. It had a kick and wasn't overdressed. I'd have loved fresh anchovies on top. The grilled marinated flank steak was season well and cooked to perfection. The garlic mashed were too thick and needed sauce or au jus. The collards were delicious, tangy, and flavorful. The BBQ chicken was subpar, the short ribs were tender, though the sauce was too sweet. Lobster shrimp and grits were, eh. Ambience was nice, but LOUD."

  • "The atmosphere of the restaurant was just a feeling of good energy and a great vibe, service was better than alot of restaurants throught the city, good spot for a romantic night or just a chill night for drinks."

  • "This is the 2nd time i have been to SoCo and I LOVE it. I will return. Please dont ever change. This restaurant is great!! I am one that does not eat pork and to be able to order something such as the Gumbo is wonderful. thank you for making it possible for me to enjoy that."

  • "Love, Love, LOVE Soco! Went like 3 times within a 2 month period. Food is consistently good and the unlimited mimosas are....yum! Must try spot."

  • "First time at Soco, husband's b-day. The Chicken/Red Velvet Waffles are AWESOME!!! This is perfection! The waffle was cake-like, not sweet and simply great. The chicken was fried to perfection with just the right amount of seasonings. My husband had the Steak and Frites and that was also great. For apps we did the wings which were a bit spicy for me but I took them home for the kiddies and they loved it! Now, the Mac and Cheese is simply out of this world! I don't know what they have in it besides the known basics but it is so addicting! I could not stop eating it! The drinks were fun and not watered down. They can really sneak up on you after a couple. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Soco is my new go-to spot!"

  • "Soco staff were friendly and the covered outdoor seating area was nice. However, due to the seating arrangement there was a disconnect from the front indoor dining area where music although low was heard over head. The lack of privacy and close quarters and lack of music in the area where we were seated was a little disappointing. The food and drinks were great, when making reservations you are expected to dine for the time allotted to allow for the next round of diners scheduled two hours later which is fine, but perhaps if the outdoor seating area was turned into a lounge for after dinner music and drinks it would give you a chance to take in the experience and enjoy your time there."

  • "I had a birthday dinner here with two of my best friends. I can say everything was perfect. Seated promptly. Friendly and polite staff from the hostess to the waiter to the door person. I put a note on my reservation stating that I was celebrating my birthday & they brought us a round of shots. EVERYTHING was perfect. Not one complaint. Food was great. TWO THUMBS UP"

  • "I loveee soco! The food is absolutely amazing. For brunch there's bottomless. mimosas. for around $13 or so. The only dow fall is that they close for about 2 hours from like 3-5. Other than that, soco is pretty dope."

  • "I have tried to dine before at Soco but hard to make a reservation. This is restaurant is always solid booked. I finally went and the food is excellent! Mac and cheese, mussels, cornbread, vegetables flatbreads, fried chicken on red velvet waffle were the highlights! I will definitely go back! A special thanks to waitress Crystal! Her service was incredible!"

  • "I don't want to get too overly detailed. I've been this restaurant a couple times now, and I must say that each time the food made me very happy. The drinks were better than expected, yet a bit pricey. $12 for Kettle One and cranberry. A bit much! However, the experience of being in a place that allowed me to feel the neighborhood and people, made me happy. The hostess has a tough job with the weekend crowd, but I looked for her at the end of the night just to say Thank YOU. Because, even though most people would be overwhelmed, she Always had a smile. Would I go back, Yes. But, I'd definitely keep in mind that, I'll nearly have to yell everything I need to say to my guest. It's quite noisy in this wonderful little restaurant."

  • "Sweet potato pancakes were ahhmazing, and possibly the best grits i have ever eaten in life. took the bf there for a bday brunch and he loved it. i will be back. We did wait mad long for our food (like 25-30 mins) so that put a damper on the experience but when the food came it was worth it. yum."

  • "Short menu but whatever's offered is great. The kitchen closes from 3pm to 5pm daily so when OpenTable gives a reservation for 5pm be prepared to stand and wait until 5:30 before your table is ready. The desserts were a bit diss appointing but the food was AWESOME! SoCo Ribs, short ribs and mashed potatoes, lobster, shrimp and grits and the shrimp roll appetizer is amazing!!!"

  • "The service was great. Reservations were seat right aways, no waiting. Waitress/watiers were very attentive and knowledgeable about food and drink served there. Pecan crusted porkchops were to die for. Lobster, shrimp & grits were very tasty. My only complaint was the consistancy of the grits, would have preferred them a little thicker. There is a drink that is not on the menu but it is called a "Fantsay...", can't remember full name. Wonderful flavor, tart and sweet. Bartender is doing his job very well."

  • "The service was great, the food was great! Management was very visable and checked on us a few times to make sure we were having a good time. The seating was comfortable and the place was packed but not uncomfortable. There are food choices for everyone's taste even if you are watching what you eat. If you're not I reccomene the Red Velvet Waffke and Fried Chicken. I was there for brunch but I'm definitely going back to try the lunch and dinner menus. Overall I has a great time."

  • "This was my second visit. First time, there was a long wait because I didn't have a reservation and it gets really busy. This time I had a reservation. Everything was going well and in my head I was already making plans to come back and maybe sit in the covered outside area UNTIL my sister found a long reddish brown piece of hair (about 6 inches long) in her gumbo. Now hair is no problem for some people. They would remove it and continue eating. That's not the case with me. Even though it was not in my plate, I struggled to finish my eggs and sweet potato pancakes. By the way, they really didn't taste like sweet potato. They just tasted like regular pancakes. I will not be going back because of the hair - can't deal with it. I gag"

  • "I have heard so much about SoCo and I've been dying to eat there! We had 12 pm reservations and it wasn't that crowded when we arrived but by the time we left it was a pack house. The service was very attentive and the menu had so many good choices. I loved the atmosphere and the drinks were really good! Overall, I plan to come back real soon."

  • "from the moment I heard about this restaurant I've been dying to visit. Last year, I had made plans to go for my 21's birthday but we had that terrible snowstorm. So, this year I made it happen! Firstly, I must have called the restaurant a million times before going, to make sure my reservation was secure and then to change the reservation number. Everyone I spoke to was exceptionally polite and helpful. When I got there There wasn't much of a wait, they seated us quickly, gave us time to get settled and warmed up. oh! And you could tell they put extra care into putting the candles on my cake :) the presentation was just lovely <3 and the food was GREAT from presentation to taste! I'm a sucker for a pretty plate. And they didn't rush us out"
