Sweet potato pancakes were
ahhmazing, and possibly the best grits i have ever eaten in life. took the bf there for a bday brunch and he loved it. i will be back. We did wait mad long for our food (like 25-30 mins) so that put a damper on the experience but when the food came it was worth it. yum."

Always a pleasure to visit and
would recommend to others. Love the shrimp and grits!"

Great brunch for special
occasions. Definitely recommend reservations for brunch. Had reservations and sat us right on time. Front of house staff were very friendly. Waitstaff was great too."
Dined on 3/2/2014
Short menu but whatever's offered
is great. The kitchen closes from 3pm to 5pm daily so when OpenTable gives a reservation for 5pm be prepared to stand and wait until 5:30 before your table is ready. The desserts were a bit diss appointing but the food was AWESOME! SoCo Ribs, short ribs and mashed potatoes, lobster, shrimp and grits and the shrimp roll appetizer is amazing!!!"

Soco is always a good time.
Efficient service and delicious comfort food."
Dined on 2/21/2014
The service was great.
Reservations were seat right aways, no waiting. Waitress/watiers were very attentive and knowledgeable about food and drink served there. Pecan crusted porkchops were to die for. Lobster, shrimp & grits were very tasty. My only complaint was the consistancy of the grits, would have preferred them a little thicker. There is a drink that is not on the menu but it is called a "Fantsay...", can't remember full name. Wonderful flavor, tart and sweet. Bartender is doing his job very well."
Dined on 2/16/2014
The service was great, the food
was great! Management was very visable and checked on us a few times to make sure we were having a good time. The seating was comfortable and the place was packed but not uncomfortable. There are food choices for everyone's taste even if you are watching what you eat. If you're not I reccomene the Red Velvet Waffke and Fried Chicken. I was there for brunch but I'm definitely going back to try the lunch and dinner menus. Overall I has a great time."

Always great service, food, and

This is my 3rd time visiting SOCO
and I wasn't disappointed. The lobster, shrimp and grits was AMAZING! and I had to have a side of aunt Cruz's Mac and cheese. This place is great for just about any occasion, and the wait staff are pleasant. Keep up the good work and great food!"

This was my second visit. First
time, there was a long wait because I didn't have a reservation and it gets really busy. This time I had a reservation. Everything was going well and in my head I was already making plans to come back and maybe sit in the covered outside area UNTIL my sister found a long reddish brown piece of hair (about 6 inches long) in her gumbo. Now hair is no problem for some people. They would remove it and continue eating. That's not the case with me. Even though it was not in my plate, I struggled to finish my eggs and sweet potato pancakes. By the way, they really didn't taste like sweet potato. They just tasted like regular pancakes. I will not be going back because of the hair - can't deal with it. I gag"

I have heard so much about SoCo
and I've been dying to eat there! We had 12 pm reservations and it wasn't that crowded when we arrived but by the time we left it was a pack house. The service was very attentive and the menu had so many good choices. I loved the atmosphere and the drinks were really good! Overall, I plan to come back real soon."

from the moment I heard about this
restaurant I've been dying to visit. Last year, I had made plans to go for my 21's birthday but we had that terrible snowstorm. So, this year I made it happen! Firstly, I must have called the restaurant a million times before going, to make sure my reservation was secure and then to change the reservation number. Everyone I spoke to was exceptionally polite and helpful. When I got there There wasn't much of a wait, they seated us quickly, gave us time to get settled and warmed up. oh! And you could tell they put extra care into putting the candles on my cake :) the presentation was just lovely <3 and the food was GREAT from presentation to taste! I'm a sucker for a pretty plate. And they didn't rush us out"

My first visit to Soco was a
disappointment. My wife and I visited on the Sunday evening of MLK weekend dinner at 8:00. The restaurant was nearly packed and had a buzz about it. A violin player seemed to be playing over instrumental records, which was weird, quirky, but in a amusingly interesting way. I found the maitre'd and waitstaff to be polite. My main criticism is that my plate, jambalaya, was too hot it to enjoy. The plate came out scalding, and when it finally cooled enough for me to eat, it was was too salty. If it were spicy in a flavorful way, I could be ok with that and expect it given that it is jambalaya. But it must have been drenched in seasoning salt. I was highly disappointed and would not likely return."

Everything about this restaurant,
from the ambiance to the food portions, was very on point. Fun fusions and creative takes on classic southern favorites will keep me coming back for more. Try anything. Try everything. You won't regret it."
Dined on 1/7/2014
I really enjoyed my meal there.
Though I didn't go for the favorite, the red velvet waffle and chicken, I believe my meal was equally delicious. I would definitely return again."
Dined on 11/17/2013
This was my 4th time at Soco (once
in a large group when we had to wait approx. 15mins to be seated but that was understandable) and found no surprises, we were seated within minutes, the server was with us also within minutes and our drinks and appetizers followed in a timely manner....the steamed mussels continues to amaze and the lobster, shrimp and grits entrée was unbelievable. Can't wait for my next visit!!!"
Dined on 1/5/2014
Great food and atmosphere,
including a nice outdoor space, but service could be improved. During two out three visits, I experienced the same issues with service: while the staff was pleasant, the host didn't acknowledge us upon arrival (passing us a number times, requiring us to stop someone to inform them that we had reservations), and the waiters took a long time to take our order and brought the check before asking if we wanted anything else."
Dined on 12/28/2013
I've been to this place many times
and I always enjoy myself..I recommend it to all"

I love soco!!! I've been to Soco
for lunch and dinner and enjoyed it both times. The drinks are so on point. My favorite has been the Mardi Gras so far... You must try soco if you're looking for a spot to eat in Brooklyn."

I enjoy SoCo and go frequently.
The food is great. On NYE, they were very good with my party' of 7; 4 of which showed up an hour late. My only gripe was the waitress had an attitude. I raised my hand high after being ignored; I really needed a flatware with my salad, but I was still ignored. I had to take it up with the hostess who was magnificent. SoCo- step up your wait staff service and you get love forever from me."

I used OpenTable to book my
reservation. The day of my reservation, someone from the restaurant called me to confirm that I was keeping it. When I arrived at the restaurant, they had no record of my reservation. They seated my party promptly, but I didn't understand them calling me to confirm and then losing my reservation anyway. Other than that snafu, the food and service were good. They also had a violinst performing over instrumental R &B hits and he was quite good."

We had a great time at SoCo. The
food was great. The occasion was a mini-reunion of 3 college friends. I ordered the red velvet waffles and organic fried chicken, which was delicious. My friends ordered the lobster grits and shrimp jambalaya, these two were also really delicious entres. The only thing I would suggest is offering guests bread or something to munch on while the food comes. The night we were there the kitchen was backed up and so we grew hungry pretty quickly and had to order the cornbread (which was amazing) but we still had to pay for. Besides that, the place is great, the staff is very friendly and kind. I enjoyed my experience. We also didn't feel rushed by the staff, which can happen in busy restaurants like this one."
Dined on 12/28/2013
The food was amazing. I definitely
want to go back. Good service the waiter was very polite. Would recommend!"
Dined on 12/27/2013
I really wanted to go to a
restaurant known for Chicken and Waffles, and this was on the top of my list to try first. I went for my birthday, and it was a superb experience. My chicken was a bit to greasy but the waffle was very very light and fluffy and they have OJ available made my night. I am definitely going back with on of best friend whose addicted to waffles and chicken as I."
Dined on 12/20/2013
My very first visit on Dec 7 was
pleasurable. The food was good, although I would have liked more of a brunch menu option or the flexibility for substitution on some of the dishes. I like catfish and grits. The staff was visibly attractive and offered excellent service. The atmosphere was comfortable but the music was a bit too loud and interfered with my table mates. Also for disabled patrons, it would be a welcome sight to have a couple of chairs set up in the front enclosed entrance area as they wait for Access A Ride transportation or car service . I would definetley recommend this spot and plan to visit again if you advertise future event promotions."

3rd time coming to Soco, great
drinks and great food!!! My favs are the Mac & cheese and the fried chicken with red velvet waffle. Cute and cozy!!!!"

First visit to New York and I had
such high expectations from the notable celebrities that have dined here. I arrived at 5:30 for 6pm reservations. We were missing 2 people in our party and we were told to wait til they arrived. They arrived at 5:55 and we were told our table was given away. We waited until 6:45 to be seated. The staff and manager could care less. Food was very good but I wouldn't return to a place that doesn't treat all paying customers the same. They did bring the children drinks at 6:30. Nice gesture but that was after my husband complained a 2nd time. When you have the philosophy that you will be a booming business anyway then one customer don't make a difference."
Dined on 11/29/2013
The appetizers (gumbo, wings,
ribs) and the mac n' cheese were delicious. The people who got the jambalaya and the chicken and waffles were a little underwhelmed with the taste, but those who got the pork chops and blackened salmon loved their dishes."
Dined on 11/21/2013
The food is always good. There
never anything to worry about when ordering off the menu. Enjoy."
Dined on 11/24/2013
And I mean everything...you won't
be diappointment....the wings, waffles, steak, mac n cheese..the pear ale.....short ribs, salmon...everything.....Soco is on our new fav list. They take walk in....but make sure you make a reservation...its always packed even at Midnight."
Dined on 11/16/2013
This is my second time going. I
went later in the day and our meals arrives much faster than the last time. The last time, we got there when the restaurant first open so that may have something to do with the service. Each time the waitstaff was available. I wouldn't say attentive but definitely not neglectful. They allowed you to enjoy your meal without the constant hounding. When you needed something, they gladly obliged. We didn't wait long for our table at each visit. I highly recommend making reservations because at each visit, they were very busy. I ordered the chicken with red velvet waffles. Yummy! Their grits with seafood is just as delicious but you won't be full."
Dined on 11/10/2013
I love Soco! Have always gone with
groups of about 4 or more people. It's a great place to socialize. The crowd is mostly young professionals. ANYWAY the Chicken and waffles!!! Yummmmmm! That's basically what I get all the time although I have tried other things in the menu from people that I go with. I always recommend Soco and everyone loves it. Thursdays are the best. Ladies night!!!"
Dined on 11/6/2013
Friday night was my first night at
Soco. I must say it was a nice environment, however my friend and I ordered a drink called the strawberry moonshine. It tasted horrible. The manager refuse to give us another drink. Instead he said we had to pay for the drink even though it tasted horrible. For the future good customer service is making sure that the customer is happy and for it being my first time there i would rate the service from the manager poor. The waiter was nice but it was nothing that he could have done. overall my food was great , but my friend said that the Blackend Salmon needed just a little more seasoning. the red velvet waffle was too soft needed to be cooked a little harder."
