Diner Reviews
  • "Appetizers were very good. Wood fried pizzas could have been more flavorful. Wine list was very good. Great place to visit."

  • "I should have known when we walked in when the hostess was wearing yoga gear that we might not be in the right place. The overall experience was lack luster and unappealing. A shame really because it is in a great location and boosted a large wine cellar which looked more like an overstuffed closet. As for the food, we did enjoy the rice balls and spring rolls but the main entrees were terrible."

  • "Casual restaurant with limited menu of gourmet offerings and small bites. I had the wine flight which had 3 half glasses of wine selections with dinner. Large wine list & great food. Adult food fare."

  • "Wine list and food were both excellent. We had an excellent cheese plate for appetizer and the pork cheeks and strip steak for dinner. Sides are unique and delicious. Defiitely a place we would visit again when visiting Charleston."

  • "I've been to Social multiple times and every time I have an exceptional experience and with great servers. The ambiance is excellent. It is not too loud and the music they play is relevant not elevator music like some restaurants. The food is PHENOMENAL as well portions are small but the food is so excellent that you eat slower. This is the type of restaurant that you sit, relax, and enjoy good company, good ambiance, and good food all in one."

  • "This was a fabulous discovery for us! Every dish on the menu appealed and the ones we selected were truly superb. The tilefish in Moroccan spices with Harissa sauce on a bed of lentils was the winner! A masterful combination of flavors and textures. The coconut brownie dessert was also to-die-for. The wine pairings were great. And our waitress, Carly, was a true professional--knowledgeable, articulate, sincere, caring, and totally on top of it. Serious kudos, Carly! I wish we came to Charleston more often as I am already anticipating my return to Social."

  • "Was there for a get away weekend. The food was incredible, and the wine list was great. Not only do they pair their food well, but the waitress (Beth) knew the specifics of each of the wines. Great food, great atmosphere. Definite go and check it out!"

  • "We enjoyed Social very much. The food was great and service, excellent!"

  • "It was Sat. evening and the joint was jumping! A nice size bar area with lots of high top tables to drink or eat at. The dining area was separate & slightly elevated to give you a good view of the entire place. The food was very good but there were only 5 or 6 entrees to choose from on this night. The service was fast, friendly and informative. It's located in the middle of E.Bay with several other restaurants & bars and the only negative is parking is not close by. I'd recommend it to a friend. "

  • "Social was a great find. Unique menu and great tastes. The loft style interior was great and the glassed in wine room is awesome. The bar was great too. I am sure the Friday and Saturday night scene is great in this place!"

  • "In a town like Charleston with so many (SO many) amazing spots to eat in such a range from Poe's/Taco Boy to High Cotton and Pensisula Grille (and everything in between)... Social was a disappointment. Limited menu, very loud environment, and the wine is okay but then again there is great wine all over town. I've been in Charleston 15 years and never once have had a less then spectacular meal or left a restaurant thinking I wouldn't recommend it to a tourist or friend. Now I guess I'll adjust that sentiment to 'never more than once'."

  • "Loved the ambiance when you first walked in, the food and wine were wonderful as well! It was our friends 30th birthday and we were so happy we decided to eat there. "

  • "Food was delicious but portions were on he small size. For the price I would expect a larger portion. Server was friendly and attentive "

  • "We had an absolutely amazing dinner! We came for a bachelorette party and the waitress could not have been any more attentive!!! She was prompt with our drinks and patient with our many questions about the menu. We ended up ordering many appetizers which all proved to be equally delicious. The salads and dinners to follow were beyond superb. This was one of the best parts of our trip to Charleston and I can't not wait to return to Social!!! "

  • "This restaurant has an excellent wine list with nice flight options and a good menu for a casual meal. The noise level was vibrant while the restaurant was quite full, but not overwhelming. Very good service too."

  • "We came at happy hour with the family, and feasted on the $4 appetizers. Plus got a few regular menu items. Had a great time and a great meal. Would love to go back. "

  • "When visiting Charleston, do not miss this fun wine venue. They offer a handsome wine menu and even serve half glasses. The flights are fun and they are generous with letting you taste before you buy. Hats off to the owner and manager Don."

  • "Cute place, Caesar salad is very fishy. They were awesome about switching it for me since I wasn't a fan. Great service. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food though."

  • "I had my birthday dinner at Social and had an excellent experience. The drinks were excellent and the wine selection is endless. I ordered the flat-iron steak, which was grilled to perfection and tasted excellent. Our waitress was VERY attentive, getting on our nerves occasionally but I'd rather have a waitress check too often than never check at all. My only negative was the sound level, which I should expect during peak dinner hours but I had to lean in to hear my date. Overall an excellent dining experience I highly recommend, just don't expect it to be quiet."

  • "Food was great wine too but the intimidate look is deceiving in pics. Had a great time but would not set this up as an "intimate" date night again. I guess it's true to it's name and the noise level reflects it."

  • "Was looking for a nice place to take my girlfriend out on our first night in Charleston and found Social to be the perfect spot. The wine list was extensive and the waitress was knowledgeable on food/wine pairings. We got a pizza and I got the stuffed chicken. Both were excellent with the chicken so moist it melted in your mouth and the brie and apple pizza was unique and delicious! Will definitely return when in town again."

  • "Our overall experience was great. The food was AMAZING and so fresh! We will definitely be going back. Our server was very knowledgeable about our wine choices"

  • "The food preparations were very good all around. I really enjoyed the pork cheeks. Unfortunately, the restaurant is so loud that conversation is almost impossible. Our party of 4 had to yell at each other just to get short sentences across. The noise is not just from the music, but the harsh acoustics of the space."

  • "We are from a local area, and always visit Charleston for special occasions. We have been wanting to try SNOB, and after using Open Table, we finally got in! The mouthwatering food, the complimentary champaign to celebrate our marriage, the stellar service, the classy decor, and putting us in a special private booth ...all top notch! We highly recommend this venue and will be sure we always make in each time we are in town!"

  • "Very extensive wine list and modern american food choices- service was quick but at no expense to the food and everyone was very friendly- by 8 o'clock the place was full especially around the bar scene."

  • "Grimy inside (esp the window looking into the kitchen...eww!!), spaced out staff, so-so food. Spend your money at one of the money other Charleston restaurants."

  • "The food was very good; however, the 1 hour wait between courses was ridiculous. Management tried their best, but it took 3 hours to eat a simple meal. Just too long."

  • "Our favorite dinner of all the Charleston restaurants we tried!"

  • "We thought we'd take advantage of Charleston Restaurant Week and try a new spot. Long story short, we think this place makes for a good wine bar/bar, but should probably give up on being a full restaurant. The appetizers and desserts were tasty, but both of our entrees went unfinished. I went with the braised pork and my wife went with the fish. As stated, neither were very tasty and after a few bites we let the server take them. The service itself wasn't that great either. There was an extremely long wait for our entrees once we were finished with the appetizers (close to an hour). With the many many choices of restaurants in Charleston, this will be one that we will not be returning to."

  • "This dinner was an unexpected and wonderful experience. The food was extraordinary. We first experienced Social through a mixology tour and thought this would make a nice place to come back to for a drink and snacks. When Social showed up on Restaurant Week, we saw this as an opportunity to return. The food from appetizer (Seared Diver Scallops) to dessert (I had White Chocolate Pot de Crème) was fantastic. I'm not sure why, but I was not expecting such top-notch food from what I thought was a neighborhood bar. And add to that the wine parings with each course, and excellent service, we had a delightful night and will come back again and again."

  • "Overall, had we not been on a double set the exerience would have been alright. But the company and atmosphere of the restaurant was nice! The food wasn't that great. I wasn't impressed with the desserts either. They also use far too much salt in their meals."

  • "I visited for Restaurant Week. The food was outstanding. The service was pretty good. The scenery was great. The only negative was the noise level. I had a headache by the time I left because of the noise level. If you are young, then go here; the noise level wont bother you. However, if you want a slower pace, peace, and quiet type outing, then go somewhere else."
