I've been here a few times. Happy Hour was great. Another time for dinner with friends wasn't quite as good. The Alsatian pizza I had was so good, but everyone at my table also ordered pizzas, and they came out burnt. The margharita pizza also looks like it's skimped on the toppings; pretty bare looking. There are beers available, but honestly this place is about the wine list, although pretty expensive. Our service was pretty lousy. We were the first table seated for Saturday dinner and our server was kind of snoody. She also kept taking the drink menu away from the table even though we were looking through it and ordering drinks. A great place for happy hour or late night drinks. Not sure I'll reserve a table for dinner again.

Social is one of our favorite places when we want to enjoy a great glass of wine along with delicious food in an energetic atmosphere. Cocktails and beer selections are also great. We went for a pre-theater dinner most recently. The place was jammed on a Friday night, so we had made reservations in advance. We enjoyed a shared appetizer of classic mussels in white wine-shallot broth with our wine flights. As we enjoyed our entrees of housemade pappardelle with seafood (beautiful, perfectly seared scallops, shrimp and mussels) in a fennel cream sauce, the general manager stopped by to see how we were enjoying our food. The entire staff here is so well trained, and service is excellent. We always look forward to our next visit there.

Made a reservation for Friday night for two, walked right in and sat down, great table, love the decor....happy hour specials allowed us to try several yummies....brick oven pizza, homemade chips with blue cheese fondue, mussels dripping in butter and white wine, and the BEST sauteed mushrooms in red wine that we have ever tasted! Server April took excellent care of us and was very knowledgeable. ...we chose a couple of flights of wine that allowed us to taste 3 glasses in a group at a time, we loved it! We live local so we are already planning a trip back for more....check it out for yourself! We were near two large groups but hardly noticed them because table spacing was great for conversation. Thanks for a memorable experience!

This place is TO DIE FOR! happy hour? 80s songs FILLED THE ROOM! BRAD BALL'S JEGGINGS WERE FANTASTIC!! Let me go on.... our bartender, Cleatus...was so personable. I am very happy to finally be in the presence of a member of the SAUZA dream team, such a treat! The sweet busboy petted my wife's hair, ginger kids are so sweet, I have no idea why they call them daywalkers! GREAT RACKS

Definitely my favorite restaurant in Charleston. It's especially amazing to do the wine pairings that they recommend or a flight of wine. They also have a full bar. Their chef is amazing. Overall would have been outstanding but it was a little warm inside this trip. Recommend for restaurant week or anytime if you are looking for a homemade brick oven style pizza.

After a number of "low country" meals, Social was a nice change of pace for us. We enjoyed the cheese sampler and a number of small plates. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, and we had a terrific night out. It's loud, so don't plan on a quiet romantic evening...

Don't get the fish served over corn. It's a piece of fish served in a bowl, an actual BOWL of soup...yuk! I traded my dish with my hubby who had the red snapper, which was superior. I mean, if you are expecting grilled to be really "grilled" inquire heavily about it. If it comes in a bowl, it's fish soup. Mussels are tiny tiny. Clean place, good service, food is hit or miss. I will go again but look at other peoples' food as we walk in and ask a lot of questions. The "hit" is superior to the miss. If we weren't in a group w friends I would have sent my dish back to the kitchen. Just ask a lot of questions and look around. Fish in a bowl is just fish soup! We'll go again but skip the mussels and fish soup.

Me and my date both had a great time. The South American wine flight I ordered was very tasty, and paired well with the cheese plate. We both especially enjoyed the House Chips with the blue cheese fondue. The service was spot on and, combined with the ambiance (candle-lit wall sconces, local paintings), made for a really enjoyable night out.

The hubs and I were taking a stroll down east bay and we decided to stop into social for a tasty beverage. Let me tell you this, we were not dissapointed! We decided to start off with some munchies, the mussles were T.D.F. TO DIE FOR! Not to be confused with D.T.F. Ha ha ha. Next, we decided to keep up the seafood thing and tried to scallops, YUM! This place is one of our favorites in charleston, do yourself a favor and stop in!

We arrived for our 8:15 reservations and the place was packed. At least 4 large parties of 10+ people. This was poor planning as of course our server had one of these parties and our food order went in after theirs. It was 9:30 before we ate. I recall the food being good, but ate it so fast I don't recall. The server and manager apologized and comped our salads, which I guess was nice. To top the experience off the server knocked a full glass of water over in my lap making look as though I had wet myself. So much for going out after dinner. That night was a bust. If I go back I will enquire as to how many parties they have before, as they can't accommodate adequately for that many.

I have been to Social before, actually two months prior, and had a great experience. This time was so poor, I unfortunately have to give 1 star and will not be returning. First, it took 2 and a half hours to get our food and our waitress stopped by our table maybe every half hour to be generous. When we ordered a bottle of wine, she poured both glasses without allowing us to taste, which I had never experienced at a wine bar. The steak was very overcooked and by that time we were so ready to go because we had waited so long I didn't care anymore. After the very spotty service and overall unprofessional demeanor from our waitress, I highly suggest spending your time and money at another restaurant in Charleston.

I should have known when we walked in when the hostess was wearing yoga gear that we might not be in the right place. The overall experience was lack luster and unappealing. A shame really because it is in a great location and boosted a large wine cellar which looked more like an overstuffed closet. As for the food, we did enjoy the rice balls and spring rolls but the main entrees were terrible.

I've been to Social multiple times and every time I have an exceptional experience and with great servers. The ambiance is excellent. It is not too loud and the music they play is relevant not elevator music like some restaurants. The food is PHENOMENAL as well portions are small but the food is so excellent that you eat slower. This is the type of restaurant that you sit, relax, and enjoy good company, good ambiance, and good food all in one.

This was a fabulous discovery for us! Every dish on the menu appealed and the ones we selected were truly superb. The tilefish in Moroccan spices with Harissa sauce on a bed of lentils was the winner! A masterful combination of flavors and textures. The coconut brownie dessert was also to-die-for. The wine pairings were great. And our waitress, Carly, was a true professional--knowledgeable, articulate, sincere, caring, and totally on top of it. Serious kudos, Carly! I wish we came to Charleston more often as I am already anticipating my return to Social.

It was Sat. evening and the joint was jumping! A nice size bar area with lots of high top tables to drink or eat at. The dining area was separate & slightly elevated to give you a good view of the entire place. The food was very good but there were only 5 or 6 entrees to choose from on this night. The service was fast, friendly and informative. It's located in the middle of E.Bay with several other restaurants & bars and the only negative is parking is not close by. I'd recommend it to a friend.

In a town like Charleston with so many (SO many) amazing spots to eat in such a range from Poe's/Taco Boy to High Cotton and Pensisula Grille (and everything in between)... Social was a disappointment. Limited menu, very loud environment, and the wine is okay but then again there is great wine all over town. I've been in Charleston 15 years and never once have had a less then spectacular meal or left a restaurant thinking I wouldn't recommend it to a tourist or friend. Now I guess I'll adjust that sentiment to 'never more than once'.

She was prompt with our drinks and patient with our many questions about the menu. We ended up ordering many appetizers which all proved to be equally delicious. I had my birthday dinner at Social and had an excellent experience. The drinks were excellent and the wine selection is endless. I ordered the flat-iron steak, which was grilled to perfection and tasted excellent. Our waitress was VERY attentive, getting on our nerves occasionally but I'd rather have a waitress check too often than never check at all. My only negative was the sound level, which I should expect during peak dinner hours but I had to lean in to hear my date. Overall an excellent dining experience I highly recommend, just don't expect it to be quiet.

Was looking for a nice place to take my girlfriend out on our first night in Charleston and found Social to be the perfect spot. The wine list was extensive and the waitress was knowledgeable on food/wine pairings. We got a pizza and I got the stuffed chicken.
