A word from Socarrat Paella Bar - Nolita
Socarrat Nolita's ambience denotes feelings of warmth, comfort and hospitality. Building on its sister restaurant's identity as a small, intimate space comprised primarily of one large communal table, the restaurant also offers banquette, bar and table seating.



Socarrat, the quintessence of the perfect paella and for which the restaurant is named, is the delectable, sensuous crust that forms on the bottom of the paella pan when the liquid is rendered and the rice reaches its peak of succulence. The menu, an authentic array of delicious dishes from the regions of Spain specializing in traditional tapas with an accent on paella and fideua (which substitutes fried noodles for rice) that can be characterized as a true exploration for the palette.



Socarrat Nolita also offers several tapas, wines by the glass, Spanish desserts, and sangria.

  • "We tried 50% of the Tapas on the menu and they were all very very good. The Croquettas, Shrimp and bacon wrapped dates = yum! No complaint with any of our tapas what so ever! The Squid Ink Paella is highly recommended! The Carnivore & Lobster Paella was good, but was too salty for our palette. Their Paella's are meant to serve 2ppl, but I think it can feed 4ppl especially if you're getting the tapas. *reservations is highly recommended*"

But this location has literally the same feel, food, service and wine list without the tight quarters, neither hips hitting you as new guests arrive, nor discomfort of knowing the next table is hearing your latest confession to your best friend.   • "Paella can't be beat here - it's always good. I've been twice to the Nolita location - sometimes it's packed - but even then it's fun. Went on a Monday also when it wasn't full - but still fantastic food. Rare place where there is a thriving night scene and the food is good too. If you want to try authentic paellas, this is a good bet."

  • "Paella is one of our favorite foods and Socarrat on Mulberry has never disappointed us. On a recent visit, the place was lively and full of customers but that didn't prevent quick, skillful service. The pear salad had an interesting vibe, the shrimp in garlic sauce was so flavorful and the Socarrat Paella was full of the most delicious fish, shellfish and meat. We will be back!"

  • "Superb service, we were very impressed with the wait person. She was attentive and helpful. We had the vegetable paella and it was delicious. It was just the right amount of food for two. The two tapas we tried were Garlic Shrimp and Serrano with toast. They were both very good. The toast was very tasty. Will go back as often as we can. Delightful meal."

  • "We went for Bruch with my wife and my 7 year old boy on Sunday and we were nicely surprise by the great food, service and quality of the food. We went to Barcelona last year and the food we ate in this restaurant was better than the one in Spain. What else can I say...The food is authentic and the service is simple outstanding (the prices are also fair). Once you go you will make it one of your favorites."

  • "The sangrea and 2 of the 4 tapas were really great, the Paella was ok. I'm not sure if it was the style of paella we chose, the paella with ink, or just their paella overall. The portions were a little small and overpriced, but unfortunately that is what I expect in most Manhattan restaurants. Overall it was a good experience, but definitely not a great value. With all the options in Manhattan I would explore another Tapas restaurant first before I'd go back, but if a friend wanted to go I wouldn't be against it."

  • "A clear favorite when we are favoring paella. We have hit up pretty much every tapas bar in the city, but my husband always drags me back here for paella (often!), and for good reason. Always five to six choices, generous portion sizes and the perfect combination of soft rice and crispy rice to keep us both happy. The tapas are solid but not the reason to come here. The wine list is well-priced and Spanish, as you'd expect. The staff are both quick and friendly. Although both locations are great, but the Nolita one runs a bit louder. Try and snag a table by the door as they're much quieter than the shared table."

  • "The tapas is delish - authentic and modern, the paella is classic and sublime - fish melts in your mouth, incredible farm-fresh green beans, the red sangria is everything that makes sangria perfect - rich, fruity and potent. The staff makes you feel like one of the family. Run to the perfect Spanish experience in Nolita. Oh and did I mention they have happy hour Monday thru Thursday from 5-7 - half price drinks, sangria and tapas. Seriously, run."

  • "amazing appetizers - loved the raw tuna could of ate this all night the best we've had, also had the fried mushroom app which was good and then for the entrée paella with squid ink rice (had no idea what that was but it was interesting) with seafood on top - a little dry for our taste but we've been spoiled with authentic paella in Spain - would come again for drinks, the dessert wasn't that great although we aren't dessert people - we had flan & didn't like it but it was our first time trying it ever and the lemon tart was oh so tart not in a good way but the place had and energetic vibe - we had a small quaint table amongst the hustle and bustle of the place (it was packed) which to us meant it was the to go place."

  • "My girlfriend and I come back here every couple months for a good date night. I typically don't like tapas places much but the paella here stands out far and above others I've had in the city. Our server, Carlos, was fun and friendly and took care of us appropriately. On a Sunday night the place wasn't crowded and we had no trouble getting a table. I'd like to come back again with a group to try out the long table. It's very attractive."

  • "The staff at socarrat was fantastic. They are warm, friendly and provide great recommendations. Ambiance was sultry with lots of dark wood and romantic lighting. The restaurant was the perfect noise level to hear your friend but not too quiet. The food was good but tapas portions were small, especially for the somewhat expensive prices. Paella was good but also somewhat expensive for not being awesome. I'd take a friend here that would appreciate the service and ambiance but it's not the best paella I've ever had."

Usually I don't complain about that but it was a very small restaurant so it was distracting. Other than that food was good and service was excellent.   • "I went with a friend on a cold Tuesday night for the first time. We ordered the fried artichokes, jamon croquettes, and the signature Socarrat paella, all of which were very tasty. The fried artichokes also had a few pieces of fried kale included, which was a nice surprise. Atmosphere was very quiet and romantic, but since we were there on the early side and the weather was awful, I think it was unusually empty. Only complaint would be that it took forever to get the check, even though the place was not busy. I would definitely go back, and would recommend for a date or a small group (4-6 people)."

  • "We enjoyed the food and the drinks but we felt that we were being pressured to leave. Waiters came three times to ask if we want to wrap the food, of course I got the message they wanted us to expedite our eating so that they can offer the table to another guests. In the end another person came with intention to let us know that we needed to leave and I got the message right away, so to avoid a bad scene. I just asked her for the check. At this point we were not even finnish drinking our digestive. We were there for about 3 hours and 15 minutes but we spent over $400.00 including the tip for a full course meals! We were only three because one guest did not make it. I think we deserve to be there until we feel that we were ready to go."

We were seated in a great little corner booth and had a great time people watching and eating. Also my husband does not like traditional paella and they have converted him with their carne paella. Awesome!"
