SoBouWould definitely recommendWould definitely recommend for lunch or dinner. The menu was imaginative and well executed. Wait staff were very good and knowledgeable. It was everything you look for in an upscale restaurant.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - great serviceWe went to SoBou per a recommendation from a restauranteur in Tallahassee who is from New Orleans. It was great. Different type of foods but everything we tried was wonderful. Get several small plates and share - the shrimp & tasso pincho was yummy. Sleek interior ... naive New Orlean server who was very helpful and knew her menu! Will definitely return.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThis is my for sure stop when I'm in New Orleans. If I only have time for one restaurant, it's SoBou. Perfect New Orleans experience. One of the best restaurants I have ever dine with. It has it all. Trendy, good food, exceptional service and a wine list to impress. Ask for Marcus, he's the best waiter in town. And try the gumbo.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNom Nom NomWe dined as a party of four women & we had an amazing time! The chicken was so Nom Nom Nom!!! Our waitress was friendly, and she was on time with everything. The only downfall was the annoying group of drunks beside us & behind us. SoBou is not a large restaurant so it can become extremely loud at times. The food however will shut people up! :) Overall it was a great experience and we will be returning.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fois a gras beignets wereThe fois a gras beignets were absolutely divine. Our server, Karen G, was just wonderful - extremely attentive, friendly, everything you want in a server. The atmosphere was great, the rest of the food was fine too - except for the strawberry salad. The salad was bitter and too spicey. I do not recommend in, nor would I order it again. Everything else was perfect for a birthday dinner.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA W E S O M EGreat food, great people, great atmosphere! Delightful!!!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Meal in the New OrleansWe went to SoBou on the recommendation of some friends who live in the area. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We were with a group who flew in from all over the place to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Everything about SoBou was amazing, from our server to the food to the atmosphere...it was our favorite place in New Orleans. They helped us celebrate and it was fabulous!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMit all worksI had a Negroni Blonde to start... yum! Crab Mousse w/bowfin... to die for! Butternut Squash Beignets... amazing! Foie Gras Burger w/ foie gras bacon & a farm egg... over-the-top awesome! A Coma Bar @ the end... wow! An amazing experience. A great concept, an awesome menu & an excellent staff4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMa very happy birthdayOur dinner experience at SoBou for my husband's birthday was fantastic. Great cocktails, fabulously tasty dishes (that crispy chicken? to die for!) and wonderful service. The valet recommended the butternut squash beignets, and he was a wise man indeed. Our server was helpful in making menu and cocktail suggestions, and the ambiance was great. It was one of our favorite dining experiences of the past few years!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious spot off the beaten pathAbsolutely delicious. Slightly more casual than other Brennan's restaurants but not a shorts and athletic shoes kind of place! Drinks were tasty and reasonable (try their two bit cocktails!). We ordered some tasty snacks and they were delish. Entrees were fab and also reasonably priced. Our server was great -- attentive but not overly so and kept the iced tea refills coming.
Highly recommended for lunch and will go back for dinner!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat cocktails and wonderfulGreat cocktails and wonderful tasting menu. The shrimp & tasso pinchos with pineapple was yummy and the gumbo was the absolute best one in NO -- very different style - but amazing! I think the bar area or front portion of the restaurant has more ambiance - so request that area.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatWe went there for a business meeting and it was perfect. Excellent food and service and not too noisy4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food. There areFantastic food. There are many unusual items on the menu. I had the fois gras burger. Everyone was very impressed by the unique menu and are all looking forward to coming back.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. BenchFood was excellent. Bench not comfortable. Service friendly.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall menu, but great itemsOur server Karen was very warm and knowledgeable about the menu. We ate:
1. Cochon du Lait Gumbo - 5 stars, the best thing we ate!
2. Cracked olives - good accompaniment to the cheese plate and bloody mary
3. Butternut squah beignets - consistency of hushpuppies, ok
4. Cheese plate - no choice of cheeses, good crackers
5. Beef short ribs and grits - delicious
6. Apple and Pear salad - nice contrast to the other items we ordered
The brunch was very leisurely, we'll be back!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSoBou is amazing. It cameSoBou is amazing. It came recommended by a NOLA local and it did not disappoint. A very modern oasis in the middle of the french quarter, SoBou delivered very moderately priced small plates that left us feeling quite full. The sweet potato duck beignets were unbelievable, as was the smoked bacon mac n cheese. My lady and I also split the small bites burger with caramelized onions ($7) and some pork cracklins ($1)...both of which were great. The service was excellent and very friendly. I will definitely make it back there next time I am in New Orleans.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!!!! GreatLove this place!!!! Great food, great ambiance, good service. Will keep coming back4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch menu was varied-The brunch menu was varied- the egg dish was served in a small cast iron pot which made for a perfect sized entree- not too big nor too small. I enjoyed the Lady Ella cocktail as an addition to the brunch, and we finished with the cherries jubilee bread pudding which was quite good. Our server was delightful, the decore is contemporary and open. I would recommend, and hope one day to be back in the city to try dinner here.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the service wereThe food and the service were fantastic! So pleased that there is another Brennan's restaurant in New Orleans.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT MENU!!Traveling to NOLA for the day and I found SoBou online because it was near the hotel we were staying at. I loved the menu and the presentation was remarkable!! Great atmosphere and decently priced for tapas/small bites'3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is worth the visit. The food is worth the visit. I had some of the same experiences others had written about. They attempted to put us in the back even though most of the tables were empty at the time we arrived. We would have none of that. They were out of our first to choices of wine. I would have to say that the wine prices are very reasonable. I thought the seats were fairly uncomfortable since the backs of the benchs can up to my lower back and I thought the atmosphere was a little cold. That being said, the food was very, very good. Although the menu is small and quite frankly not very engaging. The duck leg confi I had was superb. My wife had the flat iron steak which she shared with me. Done to perfection.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to SoBou after having read about it in Esquire magazine a few months ago, so I was very excited to try it, and it certainly met and exceeded expectations.
The food and drinks were incredible, our waitress, Ruby, was delightful, and the prices were very reasonable given the quality of the cuisine.
I highly recommend SoBou and can't wait to return myself.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMStylish, Comfortable & TastySoBou is a contemporary take on the best of hotel restaurants -- trendsetting and new, but comfortable enought to accomodate the needs of diverse hotel clientele. With its several rooms, it manages to be hipster bar and kid friendly restaurant, all stitched together with incredibly friendly and genuine staff, and pretty darn good food. My son and I had a late, light dinner at SoBou (after an indulgent day of eating in the French Quarter), and SoBou's small plates format makes it a perfect choice for that kind of flexible, off hours noshing. The gumbo and bisque both excelled in the quality and complexity of flavor. The SoBou small burger was flavorful and well-cooked. The selection of wines by the glass is outstanding.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a grown up bachelorettePerfect for a grown up bachelorette party. We wanted something hip, chic without battling the spring breakers on bourbon street. SoBou had the vibe we wanted. Delicious cocktails, tasty bites. It was perfect.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch at SoBouMy overall experience at the restrauant was amazing!! The food was perfect and the whole atmosphere was incredible. I will be going back again in the future.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurant, fromWonderful restaurant, from the food, to the waitress, and the ambiance! It was different and fun to dine here.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy group had a delightfulMy group had a delightful time. I would go back again anytime.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyed the varietyThoroughly enjoyed the variety of food. I don't know of anywhere but a gas station that you can buy fresh cracklings! Delicious. With small plate menus we tried many different dishes, beignets (not just dessert at SoBou). Tuna, no knife necessary, a fried oyster gave, just divine. but I think the favorite was a burger with a fried egg (yep, runny yellow) topped with a slice of seared foie gras! Our waitress, Kim truly made the night so much fun. Her suggestions were right on.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply AmazingEverything here was great! All the food was delicious and inventive, especially the butternut squash beignets. Our drinks (Sazerac and the Georgia O'Keefe) were amazing. Our server was pleasant, prompt, and helpful. And dessert was incredible. We will be back any time we're in NOLA and will recommend it to anyone we know in the area.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best meal in New Orleans! Our best meal in New Orleans! Went twice and would highly recommend this restaurant. Inspired menu and presentation.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSoBou is classy looking, inovativeSoBou is classy looking, inovative and delicious in its cooking. Our waiter was in the top 5 waiters any of the six at our table had ever seen.. Price- reasonable. Well located in the French Quarter.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTuna cones.still dreaming about it!We had a fabulous time. The food was intriguing. Not giving it a 5 star because the menu Is a bit confused and yet magnificent. Amongst the stand outs..apple & pear salad, sobou burger ( the smaller one), the yellowfin tuna cones. The tuna cones were a bit messy to eat but delicious and surprising. Other guests loved the pork cracklin. The wine list eclectic. A trip to New Orleans should include this new, innovative , delicious restaurant. You will not be disappointed.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI was here with a group ofI was here with a group of eight for a bachelorette party. They seated us at a large table somewhat offset from the rest of the restaurant - it gave us privacy but did not exclude us from the vibrant scene. We were all thoroughly impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. They could not have been more attentive. The food was excellent and the drinks were amazing (quite strong). I will go back.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWay to update! If you want great modern across the board in the FQ, this is the place.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMHai SobuWell, this is not a Japanese noodle bar but a direct relative of Commander's Palace. I had been tempted to rate the restaurant higher but I do think Sobu has a wee bit of an identity crisis. Is it a bar? A bar with some food service? An expensive finger food joint? Or...a deserving descendant of Commander's Palace or even Cafe Adelaide? However, the dishes are all creative and well-executed. Some are unique such as the yellowfin cone...yes with ice cream. The fried chicken is worthy and they nail the bread pudding. However, portions are very small and prices tend toward the high side considering some plates are only a bite or two. But try Sobu's...you might just gain mastery of the menu and if not, have another drink!12/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
