  • "We have eaten at SouBou four times now and we have always been very impressed. As we had friends visiting from California who enjoy cutting edge restaurants and innovative food, we made SoBou a must for our dinner on 7/17. Unfortunately, Tales of the Cocktail was in town and the bar was bursting at the seams. It appears that the staff was overwelmed. We literally had to wait nearly 20+ minutes for cocktails. Our waitperson was going as fast as she could but the drinks and the food were coming out slowly from the bar and kitchen. I finally voiced my displeasure to the manager who rallied the troops and tried to make it right. However, by that time the experience was ruined."

  • "This is a very interesting and exciting new cutting edge restaurant that has amazing food. Our service started out slow-- they forgot our wine order but after that it was very excellent. We had an assortment of the small plates and all were outstanding and so innovative. The roasted kale salad was the best salad any of us had ever tried. The Pineapple shrimp was so clever and very spicy but very nice. The bar was energitic and full of young hipsters. No table cloths here. This is a new age fine dining restaurant. We were stuffed and had cocktails and wine and our tab for 3 was only $150! Great value."

  • "We visited SoBou as our first evening meal in N.O. The small plates concept was a fun way to try many things, and a conversation starter (not that we needed one). I was a little afraid it was going to be too precious for the guys, but it was not at all. Every dish was unpretentious, interesting, and delicious. The food here is clearly made with care. After several more days of eating our way through New Orleans, this was the meal we talked about on the drive back to Oklahoma. Another element to not be overlooked is the pleasant staff. Our waiter was excellent and understandably proud of the food he was serving."

  • "We consider ourselves foodies and look for an opportunity to eat good food since things are limited where we live. Made a trip to NOLA for the 4th and was looking forward to just that...good authentic NO cuisine with maybe a little upscale twist. Well, unfortunately not impressed in the least bit with our choice. Trying to hard to be eccentric and cutsie and missed the mark. Beef debris was ok but tasted like a slim jim. Can't say enough about the red beans...cold spicy refried bean dip...yuck!! Would not have thought that by reading the menu. Brownie dessert tasted like a banana moonpie. Definitely not for kids. Staff was friendly and accommodating, but service slow. Maybe good for late night drink and snacks...not for dinner."

  • "We went for lunch and loved the atmosphere, our service was great and for the most part our food was good. I had the sandwich with the shrimp and pork, the pork was extremely salty. We ordered and reordered several servings of the pork rinds. The gumbo, red beans and rice and fish were great. The .25 martinis were good and strong. So while the pork was salty I'd give them another shot."

  • "Definitely worth a stop in. Great quality food and excellent bartending. The prices are lower than what I'm used to for the quality. If I had to leave a complaint, the menu is a little small for a tapas style restaurant, but there's still more than any small group could venture to try. We had a great time, and I can easily see us venturing back."

  • "Although not a big dinner menu, we managed to snack our way thru quite a few small plates (the $1 pork cracklin' are great, the artichoke was tasty but definitely finger food, the brussel sprouts were the best). We selected the gulf fish and the beef for our entrees. The beef was outstanding, with a seasoning that made us think twice about ordering a 2nd. The cocktails were also very good and the service friendly."

  • "I knew it was going to be different dining experience. It was fun but the noise level was beyond regular conversation due in fact to several parties of young women who obviously thought they were the only ones in the restaurant. It is aimed more at at younger, hip crowd. We are older, in our 60's. I will only go back for lunch with friends, if at all. I am glad I gave it a try. The appetizers were incredible (beignets, shrimp) and the Surf and Turf was delicious, also. Very good cocktails. We did have to request waters and that always surprises me when that isn't immediately brought to a table. Just a curtesy I look forward to."

  • "This was my first time visiting New Orleans, and was so excited to have an opportunity to experience great restaurants. All that we went to were great except for SoBou. I had made a reservation, and they seated me in the front door. Our waiter was clueless about the menu...which has very limited selections. We had to ask for a wine list. The gumbo did not taste like gumbo....and I ended up getting a hamburger, since I am humanely opposed to fois gras....which seemed to be in most every selection on the menu. I would never go back to this restaurant...very disappointed."

  • "I found the menu to be very limited, with not much of a selection. Burgers, really?? And the fish selections were not at all attrective nor tasty - --- sheepshead? C'mon, man! We have too many good, tasty fish in Louisiana to offer that on the menu. We ordered the whole redfish, and it was dry and overcooked. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, in fact, too attentive. They twice tried to rush us through our drinks, both rounds. In New Orleans, dinner out is an evening out, and not just because everyone has to eat. We won't be back, and I won't recommend it to friends."

  • "I would give it 7 stars if I could!! Our server Lauren was phenomenal! The food was killer! Great ambience with fun bar scene as well. Prices are reasonable for top notch menu. Make sure you read the fine print on the menu, the titles don't do it justice. Don't miss the beignets and the foie burger! Nothing on the menu is less than delicious. And cracklins for $1?? Does life get better? I'll be back."

  • "The menu change turned a very good and adventurous menu into a menu not very special or different from other French Q restaurants. Service was slow. I believe that this is the third year to be open and each year the menu changes and service has suffered. I went for dinner. this would be a much better late night place for a last stop before home of just visit the bar, which seems very active."

  • "Very nice ambiance inside this restaurant, the decor is as cool from the street as it is from a table inside. The food was good, as were the cocktails, my date's even came with a pair of SoBou sunglasses. An upscale restaurant with modern styling, sans tablecloths and not expensive for the quality of the food. The service though is lacking, we were never offered or brought waters, they ran out of Makers Mark bourbon and brought me Bulleit instead without asking--just told me they made the switch when delivering my drink. For wine, I ordered a chard and my date a petit syrah--I was brought a reisling and she was given my wine. The check was dropped off with nether a thanks or an acknowledgement--it was kind of awkward."

  • "We celebrated our Birthdays there and had a wonderful experience. Lots of nice touches, the Brennan way, with the trouble tree, and complimentary desert. The fish was fresh, flavorful and the appetizers were so unusual and delicious. The sweet potato beignets were excellent..... we will come back soon. Loved the wine bar and beer tap tables, will come and experience that soon."

I ordered a salad that had strawberries but it came with blueberries. High point was the mint julep. Bartender knew how to make a mint julep "

  • "It's not exactly tapas, but this restaurant sparkles (with rows of clear, apothecary jars reflecting against mirrors!) and with its eclectic and fresh menu daily! We ordered grilled Brusssel sprouts as a Starter-hah!Delicious! Also, our table of 6 shared 3 orders of $1 Pork Cracklin rinds. Not usually for me, these were light and addicting! Surf & Turf next - Deep-fried oysters & yummy pulled pork served w/ 2 side sauces & flour tortillas for taco-making. Again, good presentation w/greens and very tasty. For dessert, bread pudding in a tiny cauldron! Served hot, of course w/vanilla ice cream . . .Mmnnnn!! A wonderful evening with friends! Suggest reservations!"

  • "This is a Brennans restaurant that really does not live up to the standard. Food was ok but the service was awful. Staff looked like they were all having attitudes and taking it out on the patrons. No one was at the hostess stand when we first walked in and when she did see us she made us wait till she finished her conversation with her fellow employee. When our orders were finally taken, it was like they went into a black hole and you just had to wait and hope that eventually your food would arrive. But when the food did come, the dirty plates stayed on our tables until I complained for someone to please take them."
