  • "You can't beat Big Burrito restaurants in Pittsburgh!"

  • "And, that's what I think! Always perfectly prepared; always interesting; always willing to accommodate special requests. What more can you ask?"

  • "One of the best meals I have had. Rave reviews from our out of town guests. Every dish was fresh and tasty!"

  • "I just went to Soba for only the second time, to use my 'birthday entrée' coupon- turned out to be the perfect choice! I traveled to Korea for many years for my job, and love the flavors and options Soba offers in Korean/other Asian cuisines. My friend and I had black cod and ahi tuna- both delicious! The calamari was also excellent- the best I've had in a long time. Our server was kind enough to let me purchase wine at the bar during happy hour (at a reduced price) and bring it to the table- much appreciated- and service was ideal, i.e. always available and never overbearing. I hadn't seen the first floor before the remodeling, but its gorgeous now. Thanks for a great meal in a beautiful setting!"

  • "Our Soba experience was amazing! Food and drinks were amazing. The tuna is always the best. Water fest was a blast!"

  • "another spectacular meal at Soba. The tuna is a must-try. "

  • "Food was not that great, a little over priced (you could have gotten a better Pad Thai dish for half the price in a fast food restaurant), however worth it because of the service of our waiter (John)."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "we've been to SOBA many times. As always the food and service were superb. our waiter, Scott, was ten on the 1 to 10 scale."

  • "This place is amazing!! My husband and I love coming here, and we are never disappointed."

  • "The food (Alasan halibut and seafood hot pot) was outstanding as usual. The service was friendly and competent, but slow in terms of removing dirty plates and checking in for additional items needed during the meal. We were a two top in a room of larger groups (4+), so I think our server and the bus staff were more preoccupied with them. Some other other diners were quite loud, which combined with the slower service, did not provide a dining experience worthy of the delicious meal."

  • "I dined Saturday March 29 and had the salmon and it was amazing....Great table, service was awesome( John was waiter) and I would highly recommend SOBA to anyone interested in a great meal in a very cool neighborhood."

  • "food was great, but noise level was great. I was told that they do serve lunch yet"

  • "I ate at this restaurant for the first time last year for my birthday and returned again this year. Both times the menu has overwhelmed me with the number of really interesting options. The wait staff has been consistently helpful in providing recommendations to help me make a choice. The cocktails, the appetizers, the main courses - all of it was really wonderful with interesting pairings of foods and spices. Tables are spaced far enough apart that you can have a private conversation at your own table. It is becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh for a special night out."

  • "My husband & I were joined by another couple to celebrate my birthday. From beginning to end, the experience was fantastic. Hostesses that greeted us were friendly and welcoming. We were also greeted at the table within moments of being seated. Our server (Ashley?) was the best server I have had at any restaurant in quite awhile. On a busy Saturday she never made us feel rushed. She read our cues that we were hoping for a leisurely meal and she was happy to oblige. And her descriptions were awesome - it made for an exceptional dining experience. And to the chef and pastry chef - my Korean BBQ short ribs and chocolate maki dessert were AMAZING. Thank you Soba staff for the great evening!"

  • "We have reserved before we went in. The restaurant is modern and well decorated. We ordered calamari for appetizer and it was great. Then, pork chop and seared rare tuna , both are impressive , large portion, and delicious.finally , the most favorite of mine is chocolate maki. It was creative and delicious dessert . Overall Soba impressed me and I recommended this restaurant to others :D"

  • "Excellent food and service. While there have been some very good additions to the menu, the desserts need tweaking; they haven't changed a lot over time. The cocktails are excellent, especially the "Offer You Can't Refuse". It is great. The service was very good with a small glitch; the extra bowl of rice we ordered was brought way before our entree and was cold by the time the main course was served. Soba is a wonderful restaurant as are all the Big Burrito restaurants. We enjoyed our evening tremendously."

  • "We were stuck in traffic due to tunnel construction & called ahead to push back our reservations. We were told that was fine & whenever we got there was fine. However, when we got there the hostess told us we could not be seated because they like to allow 1.5 hrs b/w tables & there was only 1 hour 20 mins so they were unable to seat us & we were more than welcome to sit in the lounge (the tables are knee length and not ideal for eating at, especially for a special occasion). We told them we would not sit there & had we been told when we called that was the case we would not have sat in traffic for over an hour to get there. They were able to "squeeze us in". The restaurant was 1/2 full the entire time we were there & no reason to rush us"

  • "Another perfect evening at Soba. We took our son who was visiting from NYC. Everything we chose was excellent. The food and service were impeccable."

  • "First time there since remodel, everything looks great and always a suprise how everything fits into the building. A little slow to get a drink but well worth it, Cucumber Vokda Martini served with a Dill Pickle, wonderful. Fun and vibrant atmosphere, great place for a group of 4 to 8. The staff, like all Big Burroito concepts, was very helpful and happy to be there, appetizers and entrees exceeded expectations...a must try in Pittsburgh."

  • "First time I was here since the remodeling and the place looks great! The feel and energy from the bar is palpable as it gets you ready for an amazing dining experience! The food here is so consistently delicious and I appreciate so much their support of local farms and the ingredients they use leading the sustainable trend. It is very important to me for the restaurants I support to only use meat from humanely treated animals."

  • "Chef Danielle Caine once again wowed us at our recent visit to SOBA. Her food always has the freshest ingredients, innovative & powerful flavor combinations, & the menu always has something seasonal, new, & delicious. Her scallops and black cod melt in your mouth , her homemade Kim Chee has the appropriate edgy bite, and don't even get me started on the black truffle samosas. Her Nam Kao Tod should come with a warning label: Warning you are about to become addicted to SOBA's Nam Kao Tod. A beautiful space, best cocktails in town, & absolutely delicious 100% of the time."

  • "We were trying to think of a restaurant in Pittsburgh where we could take a friend from San Francisco who is used to incredible food choices, and we decided that SOBA would be fun. We began the dinner with their upgraded cocktails, which were festive and worth the splurge. Then, we had the tofu, hamachi and pot sticker appetizers (tofu is still the best; tiny portions of hamachi on the appetizer, but nicely presented with avocado); then main courses, the most memorable of which was a calamari with an array of interesting ingredients. The decor, including the waterfall wall and lively bar scene, make this a fun spot. We had excellent, attentive service and a waiter who knew his drinks and menu well."

  • "We had a great meal with excellent service in a very nice restaurant. Quickly becoming a favorite place for us."

  • "Good food, good service, good atmosphere. What else is there?"
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Since my last visit to Soba, the downstairs has been further remodeled, giving it a more coherent sense of space with a comfortable and contemporary Asian flair. The menu continues to provide innovative adaptations of more traditional Asian fare with more emphasis on seafood than on beef, pork, and poultry (although all of those are still well represented}. Vegetarian choices are more limited, but I thoroughly enjoyed the seaweed salad and the Thai vegetable curry. Our server, John, was attentive and answered any questions that we had with enthusiasm. Although we don't get to Soba more than a couple of times a year, each time we do go, we tell ourselves we should go there more often. Maybe this year, we will."

  • "Food and drinks were very good. Negative was the staff kept rushing things, asking multiple times if they could take our plates, which still had food on them... It wasn't like midnight or anything like that, and we weren't the only customers. If you don't want people to be there past 10... Don't take reservations after 830...on a Saturday night...as it's a sharing plates and talking environment."

  • "The food was especially good due to the creativity the chef used and the perfect marriage of unlikely flavors such as the cod with the pulled pork sauce. The waiter was very attentive as was everyone who worked there. We loved the ambience and the decor. We wished we could get everything on the menu because everything looked so good! We will be back!"

  • "Soba is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The last 3 times we were there I ordered the beet salad with the apples and goat cheese. I could eat it every day of the week. I love the tempura rock shrimp with the crispy lemon slices. I always clean that plate. My family has especially enjoyed the entrees with duck. We have always had tasty and beautiful food. I like to end my dinner with the chocolate maki which is both tasty and whimsical. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful when we have questions about the menu. Thank you, Soba!"

  • "Our server Amanda completely made this an amazing experience for us. Her knowledge and passion about the food in combination with her great interpersonal skills made my wife and I so happy. We haven't been out to eat lately due to some recent bad experiences, so it was just what we needed. We've been to Soba sporadically in the past, but the service we received from Amanda was enough to make us want to come back on a weekly basis."

  • "Second time at SOBA. While visiting University of Pittsburgh. As soon as my family and I knew we would be in town, we immediately booked a reservation at Soba, based on a fantastic experience that we had there last year. Everything was just as great as we remembered it, can't wait to go back again!"

  • "Great ambiance, wonderful food and excellent service."

  • "The food, service and ambiance and Soba are all excellent. I went there with a group of four and we decided to split most of the "share" options family style. Each dish had its own merits whether it was the best lobster maki I've ever had, the wonderful crab spring rolls, or the delicious short rib dumplings. We did not sample any of the cocktails, and instead stuck to the very organized wine list. Overall I was very impressed and I will be returning in the future."

  • "I have been a fan of the big burrito chain for years now and this Valentine's Day they impressed again to say the least. The tasting menu offered was fantastic and the service and pace that the dishes came out was ideal. Thanks again."
