This was a great pre-theatre find. Apropos Greek wine choices, subtle refinements of traditional dishes that worked, and a very friendly and prompt staff made the dining experience a delight and fully rush free. We'll be back.

After exiting the Hammerstein Ballroom, we searched for a place to grab a bite and liked the reviews for this place best. The staff was friendly and accommodating and helped us choose wines (most are Greek) to accompany our food choices. We ordered the muhammara (spelling?) first- great combination of roasted red pepper, walnuts and pomegranates served with nice warm pita. We also ordered the Fritto Misto which was great (and since I'm not a fan of smelts, my husband got to have them all!) with a nice yogurt tartar sauce. The octopus salad was delicious but I thought had too many chick peas...I ate as many as I could and there were still about 20 on the plate. The Greek salad was the prettiest I've ever seen and was lovely.

braised lamb sandwich was good...french fries would be better if fresh cut not frozen and sprinkled with too much paprika. The deconstructed baklava...horrible!!! The filo was overly dry the fig and rhubarb filing was alright not very flavorful and sparse honey and nuts added to the lack of flavor and texture

The tuna skewers were cooked perfectly, and the greens and grains a nice complement. the luncheon dish was reasonable priced at $13. But service from the kitchen was slow, and the noise level was not conducive to conversation at anything other than a level just below shouting. I have been here for dinner when it is somewhat quieter, but the amount of wood and brick still creates a somewhat harsh sound level.

I was going to be in the area and had heard from couple of friends that this place is a sleeper. so I decided to check it out. The Manager/Owner greeted me at the door and suggested several option as to where I like to sit. The waiters were very informative and quick in getting my order in as I only had 1 hr. The wine list was small but well priced and great selections from Mediterranean region. The food was delicious and straight forward, clean presentation and very tasty. I love my main course Yellowfin Tuna on skewers with olives - DELICIOUS! I will certainly make sure to be back soon and try their dinner menu. Ps. I heard from guest around me that the Burger was one of the best they had......

First, there was the GREAT Snack Taverna in Greenwich Village. Now there is the relatively new and FABULOUS Snack Eos. In sports this would be called a championship 2-peat and for diners who appreciate uniquely imaginative and inventive cuisine and cocktails, this would be called manna from heaven. The menu differs from Snack Taverna's but retains the excellence of Taverna's fresh produce as well as meat, poultry and fish options. Service is professionally efficient and customer friendly. The room is attractive and comfortable.

Two of us went for Tuesday dinner at 7. Only two other tables had diners. Service was friendly and quick. Shared appetizers (3 dips), seared chicken (delicious!) and thick pork chop. My chicken had Fiddlehead ferns as side - tasty and unusual. Waiter described wines like an oenophile. Total was $150 for two with $40 wine, shared appetizer, no dessert, tax/tip included. Friendly, quiet place with above-average food. We're coming back.

Eos is a small place. The food was very tasty. The place was very loud even when the place was only about a third full. I would not recommend this place if you have a party of 7 or more but definitely take a date here just be prepared to yell a little. Service would have gotten a higher rating but the staff seem a little off. I had to ask for water twice from a different waitress. I sense they were trying to help each other out but it seem a little disjointed. They did give us extra pita for our dipping sample which was a plus. Also, for a appetizer (6 - 8), entree (23-28), dessert (8), a glass of wine (8), is about 45 dollars and their price fixe meal does not really save any money that I can see.

We were an hour late for our reservation due to horrible traffic and rain, and then asked them to hurry our food as we were trying to make an 8 Pm show. They were super accomodating, friendly and understanding. Not a word about us being late. I was quite frankly surprised being in New York City and all. The restaurant is max a 15 minutes walking distance to the theater district, so very convenient, and quite cosy and I would deffinately return for dinner.

A great place for a pre-theatre snack. The only reason I give a "good" to the ambiance" is its unfortunate location, right on 9th and 39th, steps away from the Lincoln Tunnel and the Port Authority. We didn't mind, but if you are looking for a quiet evening, beware The food was excellent - lamb sliders are a must- and the service was genuinely spectacular. great recommendation on Greek wine, and food choices/portions. I live in the area & am always on the lookout for new places slightly "off broadway" to avoid competing with the theatre crowd for a 7:00 reservation. It's crazy to have to make reservations a week in advance to dine before 8:30 on a Saturday night. The staff is attentive and helpful on drinks and menu selections. The food is Greek inspired, not traditional Greek offerings. The menu isn't huge, but everyone found something interesting. I stayed vegetarian while my friends chose the fish and pork chop entrees. We all enjoyed our selection and felt satisfied when we left. The portions are on the smaller side but that just meant I didn't have "take home" . At $30 per person (no cocktails, tip included), it was good value.

Went to this restaurant due to the fact we are in the neighborhood and thought it would be great to try something new. The food is definitely not Greek. Being Greek born and raised I can say confidently this could be considered Mediterranean, but not Greek. The lamb sliders to DIE for...so good. The prawn skewers are good and the Lamb dish is scrumptious. The rice pudding was described at traditional...was nothing traditional about it...a bit too loose for my liking and the lemon was a bit too strong...I really miss the cinnamon, but got pine nuts on it instead. The cookie was a cookie...not traditional but ok. I really enjoyed the meal and we plan on going back for brunch when the waiter we had will be there...he made it sound great.

but not as good. Snack Eos is fine. We had the burgers which were delicious but the menu was very limited and not nearly as Greek, or as tempting as Snack Taverna. No atmosphere to speak of but pleasant and good service. If I was in that neighborhood, probably going to theatre, I would consider going again but it's definitely not a place to rave about (like its downtown sister).

Snack EOS serves modern Greek food -- nothing too traditional. Smart versions of dips and spreads, saganaki, lamb meatballs and beet and quince salad. Interesting grilled proteins on skewers. Only one truly poorly-conceived dish: Bronzino wrapped in grape leaves. The fish came out like a cut sushi roll, four cylinders of Bronzino wrapped in grape leaves, rather than nori. Ruined the texture of the fish. But everything else was terrific.

i was so interested in the prior reviews that i printed them out and took them with me. all true--including food recos. we were very, VERY pleased to find such a great place in that neighborhood. the welcome was exceptionally warm, there was a dandy little amuse-bouche (soup in a small glass), and the service was friendly and efficient. and i'd add a couple of menu recos to the previous ones: the cauliflower/brown butter dip is deLIcious, as is the kumquat martini. ditto, ditto, and double-ditto on everything everyone else said!

Wanted to love this place, but disappointed. Taramasalata and red pepper dips were good, although the smoked mackerel garnish on the red pepper was minuscule. Leave it off, rather than make diners hunt for the little shards. Cauliflower dip was cloyingly rich with brown butter; needed better acid balance. Grilled sardines were good, if 3 fillets can be counted as an appetizer--that is a stingy 1 1/2 fish. This is the first time I have ever complained about portion size! Salt cod fritters were disastrous: stuffed with currents and so much paprika that the balls were orange and the flavor of the fish lost--we didn't finish them. Service was either intrusively fawning or MIA Only 4 tables occupied, but our wine glasses often remained empty.

This is not your usual gyro-in-pita Greek fair: The restaurant is cute, the saganaki was delicious, the skewers superb (we ordered the lamb and the veggie with portobello, haloumi, and fried artichoke), and my only complaint about service is that they didn't refill my water quite often enough, even though the restaurant was empty (we had a 5pm dinner). Definitely a must if you like Mediterranean food.
