First, we walked in and the ambience and cozy seating was perfect for a jazz club. Then we were seated and given our menus; I've never seen so many options for prix fixe menu. We ordered and the portions were extremely generous and the food really good. My son got the burger, which I tasted and it was juicy and yummy. I had the jambalaya, which was full of sausage, shrimp and huge pieces of lobster. We couldn't finish them. Our waiter was wonderful; which I could remember his name. The band that night was excellent and the seating is great throughout. Will go back next time I'm in town! Will tell everyone who's going too!

Saw The Baylor's perform. Amazing show! There were so many notable Jazz artists in the room, it was like a reunion! The room is tight, but the caliber of Jazz you can experience in that room is worth the close quarters. Anyway, it's Jazz...and Jazz IS family.

I know Smoke's popularity is accredited to the seasoned performers for which you have to buy tickets but I was interested in the after hours jam session where musicians come and improvise with their own instruments/vocals and it was absolutely phenomenal because of the passion, good vibes, and not to mention the jazz music that filled the room. I came for my birthday with a small group of friends (7 including myself) and we ordered drinks and a surplus of delicious food to keep our hands busy while we chatted and listened to the music. Also important to note, it was my 23rd birthday so the environment at Smoke is very welcoming and enjoyable for all ages! The service was also wonderfully accommodating. Thanks for a beautiful night, Smoke!

I like to sit up front and listen and look. I do not talk during a set nor do I appreciate others that do. Smoke encourages quiet and respect for the performers. This is exactly what I am looking for. In addition, one can sit in comfortable chairs and enjoy a delicious meal and libation just before the set begins - again, perfect for me. Finally, Smoke appears to keep the Steinway in good shape. What else could one ask for? It is the perfect jazz club for me.

This jazz club is worth a visit for a special night out, if you don't mind a very cozy atmosphere. First about the jazz. The four piece ensemble was absolutely outstanding and the volume was perfect for the size of the restaurant. The food will in no way disappoint you. From the rack of lamb to the sliders. The service is adequate and experienced. Expect to pay "premium", which may be on par considering its location and advance reservation is a must, along with "day of" confirmation, as the dining area is quaint. Keep in mind, there may be a "set charge" as dining accompanies the entertainment. Enjoy

I recently relocated from the Upper West Side back to the Baltimore/Washington Area, but absolutely loved this place. The food is amazing as always and by far the best that you will get for the price at any Jazz/Supper club. The host were very nice and accomadating, and even accomdated a specific request that I , for the most part, did think was feasible (A+++). The music and accoustics was awesome and to this day, it still feels like neighborhood bar rather than a huge club, which made it amazing. I am probably the Smoke Jazz and Supper club's biggest ambassador outside of New York City. And with DC's rivals like Blues Alley, This is for me, work the Trip of 95 for. Thank You Smoke's for never dissapointing me.

I went to see Mike LeDonne for the regular Tuesday Organ Night. As always the music was world class and high energy. The food here is just as great. One of my favorites is the Salmon served a broth with fresh clams and chorizo. The cheesecake topped with chocolate is simple, yet sinfully rich and delicious. One of the best I've had anywhere. Smoke is the place to be for great food and jazz!

We attended Gregory Generets final concert. He & his band were in fine spirits as was the audience and the entertainment was terrific. The service was a tad slow due to the crowd but friendly and efficient. Caeser salad with anchovies was bland unless you had anchovy in your forkful. Brussell sprouts side was copious and delicious. Specialty drinks were tasty esp. Mojito! I would come back and split the side and bananas foster. I wish they could make a 'real' foster instead of a bread foster but it'd be hard to do during a performance.

Great evening spent at the Smoke. The menu was perhaps a tad 'touristy' with a set cover charge and menu price (9+38) . The dishes were large and consequent yet a clear abundant use of oil. Sadly had the worse table in the place (next to the scene but next to a pillar and some random electrical equipment). Waiter kept hitting my chair and had no way to get out of the way. All in all go there for the jazz!

I'm not necessarily a fan of supper clubs, because usually both the noise level and the attention people pay to what is happening in and nearby their own table distracts from a real appreciation of the music being played. I must admit that Smoke insures quite well that such distraction is non-existent or kept to a bare minimum for the sake of music. The result is a wonderful and enjoyable music experience had by all, most appreciated by the musicians themselves. I highly recommend visiting Smoke.

To listen to GOOD jazz this is one of the hotspots in NYC. Food is only fair and not the prime reason to go to Smoke. I had a fairly run of the mill burger and my friend had a less than great strip steak. If food is important for the evening dine elsewhere first then enjoy a great evening of jazz at Smoke

What a waste of time. Too small. Bad service. They made us wait outside for a table and when we got to sit. People are bumping into you. The waiters never check on you. The only food thing was the music which you can't hear over the crowd jammed into a small apartment. We left after only 30 mins.

If we had gone to SMOKE just for the food, it would have been an outstanding evening, but add exceptional music in an intimate setting with no bad seat in the house and tasty cocktails, and you have one terrific night. We celebrated a friend's birthday with another couple, and our experience exceeded expectations. Just be prepared to spend $100/person. We're a big family, so we can't frequent SMOKE often, but the next special occasion will be the next best excuse to spend another evening on Broadway at 105th.

We had a great time from the beginning of our arrival, when our choice of seats was accommodated after they tried to put us in "not so great" spot to watch the band. Also it was my wife's birthday and we were treated to a complimentary glass of champagne ...nice touch. The meal was a pre fix...pretty good deal, good choices except for the dessert which if you are allergic to chocolate is not good. There were other desirable choices which were the same price which we were not allowed to substitute for until we reminded them it was my wife's birthday...then it was "ok then, we can do it". The food was all very good and well presented. The music was excellent. We will go back and recommend Smoke as a great night out!

Smoke is easily one of the top five jazz clubs in NYC. We recently went on a Tuesday night and Mike LeDonne and Groover played a killer set! Each player was outstanding, and as a group, there was the kind of listening to each other and playing off each other that happens when jazz masters play together. Dinner was excellent and our server was especially friendly and professional. Smoke takes jazz seriously and, for us, that makes it one very special place.

I visited Smoke to hear the ever popular Mike LeDonne's Groover Night on Tuesday. First, Smoke has an outstanding vibe and sound system. The owner's are truly into the music, and it shows in the staff and atmosphere. I asked my favorite bartender Tommy to select 3 courses off the Prix Fixe menu, and as always, he made some great choices! The shrimp and watermelon salad featured a light and tangy barbeque sauce which was nice with the sweetness of the watermelon. The main course was a Maryland Softshell Crab sandwich. Delicious! Dessert was a simple, yet satisfying fresh seasonal berries and cream. Smoke is a real gem in the world of jazz clubs. I only wish I lived in NYC or I'd be there all the time!

My two sons (15, 18yr) and myself were on a week trip to NYC and for my birthday, we made reservations for the 10pm concert. Food was tremendous (but way too much!) and the selection of Belgian-style locally brewed beers highly appreciated. My youngest son not being a jazz fan, has also appreciated the food, the setting, the 'ambiance'. Smoke is highly recommendable and upon a next trip, we'll surely come again.

Went to see The Baylor Project. Took the train from Philadelphia for the show. It's a straight ride with about a 3 block walk at the end. We sat at the bar but there really wasn't a bad seat. The venue is small but the wait staff seem to make it work. There are minimums for drink and food depending on the time you go and whether you were at a table or the bar, but that is met pretty easily. Having spent a number of years in NYC, I knew that it was going to be pricey and was prepared for it. The food was really good. We have fried shrimp and Lamp sliders. Met some friends there who had salads and pasta and said their food was also good. The music was phenomenal, the crowd lively, and service was fantastic.

We loved Smoke Jazz. The food was great, and The Baylor Project outstanding. Our only concern was the tight schedule required to get in three sets for the show. Our food took longer to prepare, definitely worth waiting for, but we felt rushed to finish it since we knew the set was almost over and it was time for a new group of guests to come in.
