A word from Smithville Inn
Old world charm meets new world hospitality in this lovely lakeside landmark. A longtime locals favorite serving award winning classic continental cuisine with a modern flair. The restaurant, resurrected from an uncertain future in 1997 by the combined efforts of the Coppola & Bushar families, has since reclaimed its spot among the favorite dining locations in the Atlantic City area.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday brunch this past weekend. The service was great. The servers and managers checked on us to make sure we were well taken care of. The bbq salmon wasn't the best and the bagels were a little stale but overall the food was great and my love enjoyed it also! I would definitely come back again for dinner or lunch next time I am in town."

  • "Some confusion at first. Decided on going to Smithville Inn for Sunday Brunch on Palm Sunday. Called regarding reservations and was told only for large parties. While checking the address on the way there I noticed something about reservations and decided to click on it. I am glad I did. I was able to make a reservation for 15 mins later. If not we would have been turned away as they were doing with other people. The good was very good, though lunch type items were not many, more breakfast. Nice dining experience. Though our waiter Mike was quick and accommodating, he had very little personality. Said a couple of funny things, could not get him to crack a smile or stile up any conversation. Overall, it was a nice brunch and we will go back."

  • "The Inn is an, at least, twice yearly tradition for my family. The food has been consistently good in the past 15 years. The service is always wonderful. We come with a party of 8 - 10 so i reserve early and we either get a lovely table in front of the window (where we can see the lights reflecting off the lake at Christmas or the ducks and geese on the lawn in the spring) or the cozy private dining room with a fireplace. We really feel so at home at this beautifully quaint inn!"

  • "The ambience, service and food is all outstanding. We love this place. I have been going here since I was a kid. My husband and I always love it. The service by Nick was beyond outstanding."

  • "My husband and I had a weekend getaway to the Seaview spa & golf resort just outside AC. On Friday evening we had a wonderful dinner at the Smithville Inn where we had the best prime rib we have eaten in many many years. The service was outstanding as well as the atmosphere - they had a pianist at the white grand piano who was very good. It was a most enjoyable evening!"

  • "My family and I have been going to Smithville since 1969. We have never had a bad meal there. Brunch on Sunday was no different, the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional."

  • "I've eaten at the Smithville Inn several times. It has always been one of my favorite spots in the area. When I've had dinner and brunch there in the past, the food has been excellent. On this visit, my mom, young son and I had lunch. The atmosphere and service were great, as usual. However, the lunch menu was limited and the food was not as great as it seems to be for dinner. While we all enjoyed our meal, it was nothing "outstanding". I would still recommend the Smithville Inn for the ambience and service alone. I just think dinner or Sunday brunch are better than the luncheon selections."

  • "We always love to stop at the Smithville Inn on our way back from trips to Southern NJ. It is like taking a mini vacation back in time-to a less rushed time in history. This night we were there when they were having their prix fixe menu. Hubby had the salad with candied walnuts and pears, I chose the cheese steak dumplings. Both were excellent. He had the swordfish special and I had the scallops and shrimp pasta. My husband was kind of surprised the fish had the skin still on it, and the portion was a little small, but OK. I had plenty of pasta, 3 shrimp and two scallops. Very tasty. For dessert we chose the chocolate cake and the parfait. Both fitting endings to a nice meal. And for $25 a person, not a wallet breaker."

  • "My husband and I ate here for his 60th birthday. It was a monad night so it wasn't busy at all plus it was rainy. Suppose we didn't get a true feel for the restaurant but we found the service excellent. Waiter was both friendly and informative and attentive. The menu is varied and interesting. Everyone would find something to liking. Recommend rack or lamb and Caesar salad. Didn't order dessert as we had no room. Oh yes, try the pork belly!! We had a great table in the room with huge window overlooking the water. Would absolutely go back!!"

  • "We had been here a number of times in our younger days. There was a time when the were owned by WABC and the place lost it's delicate atmosphere but this experience was just as good as anyone could imagine. The waiter was excellent and made sure all 9 guests were accommodated. I miss the piping hot popovers that used to be their signature item but it didn't take away from the great find this restaurant is. Prices were reasonable for the food, ambiance and service."

  • "We enjoyed our dining experience. We took a family member out to celebrate a special occasion an it was perfect. We sat by a large window with a great view of the lake, a piano player was on duty, and the food was excellent."

  • "Went to celebrate my husband's birthday. He loved the chicken pot pie, their speciality. It was huge! I had one of the specials, seafood scampi, which was also very good. Others in our party seemed satisfied with their choices. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return next time we are in the area. The village of Smithville is an added plus with their shops!"

  • "We had prime rib and a pasta dishes. They were large portions with a salad and very good. Just outside of of Atlantic City I could see me stopping in for a high end meal on my way home after a day trip rather than paying top dollar in AC. Even better spending the night at Smithville! We will be back soon!"

  • "we found the menu to be lacking. the appetizer list was lacking., very little to choose from. .the dinner menu was missing what yoi would typically find on an historic inn menu. no roast turkey or meatloaf entrees also the chicken dishes were limited."

  • "We came to the Smithville Inn for Restaurant Week for an early dinner, this was our first time at the restaurant. The food was amazing. For an our appetizer we had salad, duck wrap and cheesesteak dumplings. For the main course we had lobster tail, swordfish and veal for our main course. For desserts we had chocolate cherry cheese cake, crème brulee, and banana bread pudding. Everything was prepared perfectly, needless to say, we left full and happy. Our waiter, Mike, was praobably one of the best waiters we ever had. He was full of knowledge and recommended a few things on the menu that we ordered and loved. He was very friendly and we will be requesting him again for our next visit."

  • "Our lunch was very nice, having been to the Smithville Inn many times in the past 50 years or so. It was always a special occasion when we have dinned there. Today we wanted to get out and see some shops and try the Inns lunch for restaurant week. I had the portabella sandwich, which was good. My partner had the Chicken sliders, which she enjoyed as well. I had the bean soup which was very good and the vanilla flan was perfectly made and delicious! Our server was very good and made our meal more enjoyable."

  • "When you walk in the front door past the 6 foot fireplace you are transported to another era. It gets better, the hostess is always pleasant and accommodating. Chicken Pot Pies and other delights set your mouth watering the minute that you pick up a menu, but be careful to realize where you are, you are in yesteryear so they cook steak until it is dried out, their burgers however may be the best on the planet. Generous pours of wine and martinis to die for, it's a special occasion place for the older crowd, some days it's everybody over 60, some days the number seems higher."

  • "4 of us had lunch during this week and had a great time. Food was plentiful and good and well presented. Prime rib sandwich was very good as was the shrimp salad wrap although one thought bread would have been a better choice for the salad. Intend to go back soon."

The ambience is very nice, relaxing and yet fun. The service has been right on point each time we have dined there. This past weekend our waiter, MIKE was one of the BEST waiters by far!!!! Hats off to him. Great guy, great attitude and his professionalism showed 100 times over. We brought our friend with us, and they too were very happy with the service, food etc they received. Can't wait to come back!!!! :)"
