After an afternoon of shopping we returned to get a few desserts to take home. Got the Carrot cake, could not believe the portion size! Starting in the bar with excellent cocktails mixed by Hank and then dining overlooking the garden with lobster and a bottle of chardonnay, the evening was most enjoyable. The hostess, Kathy, and server, Jeannie, managed to produce a wonderful event. Shrimp cocktail followed by steamed lobster was our order and it was very good. Had a great day there.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily Sunday brunchWe had 5 adults In our party and 2 children (3years old and 8 months old) we had wonderful waitresses who spent time helping my daughter with extra donuts and whipped cream when she had run out and we were still eating. When the baby woke they spent time making her laugh and chatting with her, nothing was too much trouble for them. They had roast beef,ham and roast potatoes with veggies, sushi even and white fish smoked and salmon. They had chicken parm and my father in laws only complaint was there was no pasta to go with it. The roast beef was wonderful and tender but very fatty :( everything else they had was the usual breakfast buffet items we would highly recommend this for anyone of any age and occasion. We had made reservations in advance, which was a very good idea, as the restaurant, and Smithville in general, was quite crowded. I had my children with me, and I was impressed that they had quite a few children's selections available. While the lunch menu was limited, our food was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the meatloaf, while my mom had the chicken pot pie, which, although HUGE in size, she described as "bland". The friend tomatoes as an appetizer were just yummy. Our dessert was good, as well. I have dined at the Smithville Inn before and always enjoy our experience. This was a bit different just due to the crowds and the higher than normal noise level. We arrived early enough to have a drink at the bar. After being seated (8 of us) we were not rushed. My only negative is that the luncheon menu was limited. I had wanted to get a take-out meal for my mother who could not attend, and there was nothing she would have liked. But everyone else had a good meal.
