  • "My filet mignon was done just the way I wanted; medium rare and very tender. Other steakhouses don't cook steaks properly. Reasonably price and good to last bite. Spring rolls are crispy and dumplings are tasty appetizers. You can also try beer from local microbreweries. They serve a light apple cider beer that's refreshing. Smith Brothers are always consist with food and service."

  • "If you looking for a great restaurant in Scarborough, that should be down town, then you need to go to Smith Brothers Steak house & Tavern. They have craft beer from Canada. It's great value for the money- really where else you get a 3-course steak dinner for $26?? It's always tasty and cooked to perfection. You got to eat here!!!"

  • "We enjoyed being able to sample different kinds of beers. The meal was good with the exception that all our steaks were under cooked. We did however send back one meal and the other 3 it was not until we got further into our steaks did we realize that they were under cooked as well. They were however very tasty with the different sauces."

  • "Way too dark for our liking - could not even read the bill when it came. The server was excellent and informative and friendly; menu unusual. Everyone was friendly, but for our first time there, not sure I would come back. You need some kind of light on the table and you should serve a vegetable with the dinner. Roast beef - English style was fantastic, as was the mashed potatoes. Atmosphere very plain and cold....."

  • "This is my second time at Smith Bros and as I expected, food was on par. For $25 (w/ tax $28) per person on Wednesdays, you get a lot of good food for the money. My steak was grilled to medium rare, was juicy and well-seasoned. The creme brulee was a surprise since it was cold inside and the sugar was hot and crispy (normally warm/hot). Although the restaurant was not busy on Thursday, my server (or all the servers) disappeared for a good period. I had to get the manager to get my bill. Shortly after, my server reappeared!"

  • "I went with a group of old co-workers to celebrate one of them moving on to another job. When I was seated, I was politely greeted by our server and was informed of the alcohol selection that they have at the restaurant. The service throughout the night was top-notch (other restaurants need to learn from them as they have Customer Service 101 down to a tee) as the server was not aggressive in any way and the manager came by a few times to enquire about our experience. The only issue I had was that my steak came under-cooked; I had asked for medium rare and believe that it came more on the rare side. Aside from that, the overall experience was good and the prices were very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "All steaks we ordered were good and cooked right except they are lack of aroma compare to other places. The sauces were great. The cheese cakes were not too sweet and not too heavy."

  • "We had a reservation for 4, which they lived up to but put us under the AC, it was cool and drafty (blinds were moving). It took some time to relocate us. Our waiter was on-it and good, however the management seemed confused about where we should sit. Salad was good (we had the Ceasar); two of us had steaks - they were only okay - mine was under-cooked (I had asked for med, not med-rare) it was a sirloin and was a little tough & the matchstick fries were greasy. All in all it was only a fair dinner. We didn't speak up about the food, as we all felt it was too much after the confusion with being relocated. Previous visits were better, we will think twice about next time."

  • "We often visit because it is someone's birthday. It is the closest steak house to our house and is reasonably priced for steak. They do a good job, the service is good, it is dimmly light, but for some reason the sound echo's a bit. It's not as loud as some restaurants, but it's not super quiet either. We like it. It's in the neighborhood and the food is good. Our son loves the huge all you can eat mussels and fries dinner. My wife loves the steak, sausage and asked pot pie. I like the steaks. They are decent quality, but the sauces they offer makes me wonder. Don't get me wrong, they are delicious as are the sauces. But high quality steaks usually means no sauce required. Do you know what I mean? They cook them the way you want though."

  • "I had heard great things about this restaurant from friends, and for good reason. Food quality and service is excellent and price point is very good. Staff who we interacted with made the experience wonderful. We had the complete Prime Rib Platter dinner for $36. This includes a starter, entree & dessert. We had the Ceasar salad which was good and generous, prime rib platter; a large, thick piece of prime rib cooked & seasoned perfectly, that came with au jus, yorkshire pudding, & choice of potato, then berry cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious. Table spacing feels nice and roomy; You don't feel like you're too close to neighbouring tables. Additionally, parking is plentiful. This is a great steakhouse! Highly recommended."

  • "What a great restaurant in Scarborough. Steaks are as good, if not better, than The Keg and they cost a lot less. My sister and my Aunt had the salmon and I tried it - OMG it was yummy! My rib steak was done to perfection and was so tasty and tender. Their garlice mashed potatoes are delicious. Brittany was our server and she was a consumate professional. Efficient, fast, friendly and we really felt attended to. Well done Smith Brothers!! I'll return, that's for sure!"

  • "We came to celebrate my roommates birthday and were very pleased with the food and the service. I work in the hospitality industry and am hard to impress but they did a wonderful job. We ordered the lobster and steak dinner combo and it was very good. The waitstaff were knowledgeable and attentive but not hovering. They only one thing was that the person who brought the food out must have been new and didn't look comfortable with the platters and didn't wait to be sure the steak was cooked correctly. When the waitress came back to check, she noticed right away that one steak was a bit undercooked and offered to correct it."

  • "Four of us celebrated my wife and my 60th anniversary. Could not have been better. Food delicious, cold draft beer and excellent service. We have tried most of the menu now and have never been disappointed. Well done Smith Bros............."

  • "It was the first time for 2 of us at the restaurant and we were in the mood for steak. The food portions were quite large. As one in the group stated, she had enough left-overs to feed her for a few days! Not that we were complaining. Everything was delicious and our waiter, Adam was outstanding. We would definitely go back again."

  • "We felt like steak but didn't feel like dropping double the amount for some of the higher end steak places downtown. Decided to drop by Smith Bros and I'm glad we did. We ordered the Filet and NY Strip and while both were good, we both liked the NY Strip more. This steak place is now my 2nd go to place, ranking even higher than some of the fancier places I've been to. The only thing we didnt like were the sides. The mash potatoes wasn't as flavourful as we hoped, and while the match stick fries were good, they became soggy from the steak juices and soaked it up. The baked potato looked good so we'll try that next time."

  • "The Prime Rib is excellent, done to perfection per choice, rare, medium rare, medium well and well done (why my father in law does this to beautiful meat is beyond me); my sons loved the all you can eat Mussels, at $19.00 it was a bargain. Look forward to going back soon"

  • "the service was great, the overall feel was amasing, the food unbelevable and large portions.it was easy to talk and enjoy each others company plus food etc.the prices were reasonable ,i really enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend for anyone."

  • "It was too cold in the restaurant, asked the waiter to move and he told me if I could find a spot where the air wasn't blowing down on me then I could move..he didn't suggest any other location. He also didn't go to management to let them know of my complaint. The prime rib was cooked exactly the way we wanted it, however the beer was warm and the bartender/waiter had to look up how to make my cocktail (rusty nail). The cheesecake left a lot to be desired, it was more like a mousse than cheesecake. Overall this was a very disappointing experience as I had raved to my husband how good my last visit had been. Lesson learned, when I'm in the mood for steak I'll go back to the Keg."

  • "It was "ok". We went for Father's Day. The food was not as good as how we remembered it: the steak was tender enough, but no taste. The service was a bit lacking."

  • "Would have been perfect except we were seated right beside the entrance to the washroom. Next time I will request to be seated in one of the 2 rooms. I found it loud but still overall a great restaurant and the food will keep me coming back. The servers were all excellent."

  • "Wonderful food, ambiance and value, all rolled into one. The prime rib is delicious and good quality, and there is more than enough to take a little left over, home."

  • "my first time and food was slightly salty, broccoli, steak pot pie, mash. would be perfect if it was less salty. also, had ordered medium well steak but was cooked very well done. i was surprised such a nice restaurant in scarboro? :)"

  • "My husband and I had heard about SB and wanted to try a new restaurant. The overall experience was average but we were very disappointed in the food. The spinach dip was unseasoned and bland. We were shocked that neither the chicken Marsala nor Prime Rib came with any vegetables and was just meat and potatoes. As a couple that doesn't go out to eat to often we were looking forward to an enjoyable meal but left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed."

  • "I can't believe this place has been a hidden gem all these years! I came across this when I was looking around a good restaurant for steak and this places popped up. Yet, what draws me back to this gem is their appetizer mussels!! It was the best I have had for a while! The portion was absolutely unreal for a reasonable price, and was so deliciously cooked! My boyfriend and I have made plans to come back just for that appetizer! Their steak was also amazing. Best part was that you get to choose your own sauce for the the steak! I'm quite surprised this steak house has not gone viral!"

  • "Wine list could be bigger. Veggies should be served with steaks. Smaller desserts should be offered. Amazing bread and steak sauces."

  • "The service was attentive but not overbearing. The ambience was casual and comfortable. I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. The food was very good and good portions. We both ordered steaks. I ordered the rib-eye and he ordered the prime rib platter complete which included a salad and dessert. The caesar salad was very good and decent size to share. Both steaks were perfectly cooked to our liking (medium rare). The fries, asparagus, and sauces which accompanied our steaks were also good. For dessert, my boyfriend opted for the cheesecake which was good and on the lighter side. The server also made our dinner special by bringing a good size slice of chocolate cake to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. "

  • "We always love going to Smith Bros. while the ambiance is somewhat lacking, the outstanding food and service more than makes up for it. Look out Keg, you have strong competition! This is the place to go when we want a great steak or Roast Beef. I'm always recommending to my friends and family, always pleasantly surprised when they go, and very reasonable prices too! "

  • "We got seated right away however it appeared they were short staffed so our waitress was running from table to table. The food was ok at best not the worst meal but not the best . My steak was way over done, they did offer to cook another but at this point I had already tasted the steak and was not impressed. I ended up sharing my husbands which was supposed to be med but was actually med well. Dessert came ice cream was good but the beer infused ice cream was really bad. I don't like to leave bad reviews they did offer to cook me another steak, but as I said before by that point I was done with it. Too bad 1st time out will be my last."

  • "It is close to home and it is nice to be able to park for free. Steaks and the salmon are great and cooked just right and I like the choice of the 3 steak sauces. The dressing on the house salad makes it so tasty. Really like the draught beer sampler but the wine selection is very good. So far have visited about 8 times and enjoyed every meal. Usually just the 2 of us or sometimes in a party of 4. Sometimes find the restuarant dark so I like to sit at the windows. Have shown up a couple of times without a reservation and was still able to dine with a minimum wait. Well priced. We like it."

  • "We have been to Smith Bros a few times for both a good meal out with friends and just the two of us. I find it a great spot for both. The food is amazing and always cooked to perfection. The wait staff have always been attentive and we have always had a Manager come by to see how we are doing. Who says you have to pay an arm and a leg for a great steak. Great food at comparable prices to other restaurants in the area. "
