Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - PhiladelphiaEXCELLENT, PERIOD!Not much more I can say other than the experience was I M P E C C A B L E from the hostess, who was lovely and very professional, to a fantastic waiter who had a VERY good sense of the "pace" of my business dinner conversation and showed an uncanny sense of just when we were ready to order, needed anything and were done talking as well as eating!!! Made it very very smith. Which was invaluable!

While the prices remain quite high, the food, ambience, and service was, as in the past, excellent. The highlight was the perfectly cooked filet mignon but the shrinp cocktail, whipped potatoes, creamed spinach, and chocolate cake were all top-of-the-line. The waitress was friendly and helpful throughout as was the rest of the serving team. The martinis were appropriately large and tasteful, and we really enjoyed the wine flight and the chance to taste several new wines. From the time we walked in the door, my son was wished happy birthday by name and was given a birthday card. The staff treated us very well and the food was outstanding. We even had a special treat when Damien sang happy birthday to my son. We had a great evening and could not have asked for anything better. The meal was fantastic. Started with the wedge, served in a share-able portion. Also, shared a calamari appetizer. Another guest had the Caesar, portion too large for one person, served with toast and olive tapenade. We all had the filet each prepared differently, but cooked perfectly to our specification. Our server Matt was delightful, knowledgeable, and good looking :) Finally, to celebrate Kaitlyn's birthday, they served a giant piece of carrot cake and a beautiful "Happy Birthday" Serenade by the manager (Darren?). However, the manager completely redeemed the service - he saw we had been waiting long to place an order and from that point forward, made sure we were well taken care of! The manager even gave each of us free dessert as a gesture of apology for our wait. The manager was incredible - very attentive and clearly was working very hard to ensure that everyone had a nice Mother's Day dinner! It took negotiaitions with three different people to have the bill allocated to each dinner or dining couple. I was told that the problem was due to company policy. If so, I would not be likely to bring a group back to your restaurant. We were a group of Wharton MBA alumni, many of whom are wealthy people who dine out a lot. They were all impacted by the billing issue in a negative way. The menu changes seasonally and the shrimp cocktail are massive. The Calamari are spicy and perfectly crisp. Jumbo Shrimp cocktail and great Cape may salts. Awesome Burgers despite bad corporate bread.The Steak Tartare is no longer n menu and missed. We had the Porterhouse for two and it is one amazing massive cut of prime meat.
