  • "Always a good time at S&W. We have starting coming every few months for a great meal and excellent service. Ian was a quality server when we were there Friday and our usual table was held for us to enjoy the view while dining on a great meal."

  • "The view from the second floor of Rittenhouse Park is magnificient; probably one of the most desirable views in Philadelphia. The service and food are always memorable. Looking forward to another dinig experience in the future."

  • "I can easily tell that it was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life (& I have been to a lot of top steak-houses in North America). We went for my boyfriend's Birthday. From the beginning everyone knew already & wishes him happy birthday! They gave him a b-day card too not to mention a complementary birthday cake slice at the end :-) it was absolutely delicious. We both had the 14 ounce filet mignon. He had it medium & I had it done medium rare. It was exquisite. It melted in our mouths & the price was extremely reasonable compared to other steakhouses in the area. We had the duck-fat roasted vegetables & the wild mushroom sides for two. Amazing! Service was highly professional & impeccable. Stunning views of Rittenhouse square!"

  • "We had been to this restaurant in Boston and decided to try the one in Philly. It is great. Great good, service and atmosphere. Melissa was our server and she was wonderful. Their homemade breads are amazing!"

  • "My single complaint about my dinner at Smith and Wollensky has to do with their price for a bottle of Silver Oak (2009 Alexander Valley) Cabernet ($195.00) - and this was part of their special one-free-steak offering. Silver Oaks offers this selection for $70.00. This may be standard restaurant industry mark-up, but it caught me off guard. Ultimately, of course, it was my choice to pay the $292.00, dinner-for-two tab, plus 20% tip, but I do intend to at least inform my FB and Twitter 'friends' of my pricing experience at Smith and Wollensky, so they can make an informed choice about the restaurant. Everything else was wonderful. The steaks were exquisite and the roasted vegetables (in duck fat, I believe) were really, really good."

  • "We had a magnificent experience at S & W. I had made reservations through Open Table and noted on the website why the evening was a special occasion. The message did not go unnoticed. We had a meal that did not disappoint and was every bit the experience we have had in South Beach time and again. Our server was extremely attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, pleasant and polite and addressed us by name. Our courses were served in a timely manner without being rushed, were hot on arrival, and the filets were perfectly prepared as we had ordered. We were pleasantly surprised that our dessert was complimentary in celebration of our special event. All-in-all, a wonderful evening, great food."

  • "Both food and service was amazing. Anyone visiting Philly would definitely need to check this place out. Went for Dinner and the food arrived pretty quickly, all the steaks were done perfectly and it all tasted great."

  • "We have dined at S&W whenever we stay at The Rittenhouse. We have never been disappointed the service and food is always top shelf. We strongly recommend Smith & Wollensky at the Rittenhouse. We can't wait to return."

  • "One and a half hour after appetizers. We left because the main course never came in The lettuce was not fresh and the lobster bisque was just a lobster flavored soup They started to blame each other Not recommended at all The waiter never checked the status of our order in the kitchen Drinks are good"

  • "Service was horrible, and poor service ruins the entire meal. The waiter completely forgot to take our order after appetizers and when we asked him to take it he said "the other guy didn't do it?" What "other guy?" The food was bland and overdone. I used to love this restaurant! At these prices they need to do better..."

  • "For a $209 plus bill for 2 people, I wasn't amazed. It was a very good steak though. The sides and appetizers were so so. The break was by far the best part of the meal.... seriously, it's unreal."

  • "The menu is as you would expect at a steak house. The food is well prepared but not great. Service was very attentive. Cost was high for food and wine resulting in just a fair value."

  • "Had dinner with friends here while on a business trip. We sat at a window table overlooking Rittinhouse square. I don't eat red meat or chicken, but there were plenty if seafood choices on the menu, and they were willing to be flexible with the menu. The bread was so good I would have been happy to eat it with my ginger pear martini. I ordered the crab cakes, which were excellent. (I am from Maryland so I know good crab cakes!). The steak eaters in our group were happy as well. I also tasted a friend's swordfish and believe it was the best I've had. It was pricey, but worth the splurge."

  • "We have been talking for the last two days about what a good time we had and how good the steaks were. The roasted root vegetables roasted in duck fat were sinfully delicious. Our server was friendly and efficient."

  • "Wine Week at Smith & Wollensky does not disappoint. Presented with a beautiful view through the floor to ceiling windows from our second story booth overlooking historic Rittenhouse Square, it was hard to imagine being distracted inside the wood-trimmed interior of the restaurant, but we were. Easily overshadowed by delicious food, fabulous service and an outstanding wine week selection, the view from Smith & Wollensky became a beautiful backdrop, not the star of the show. If you know the view, you also know it takes some doing to accomplish this. Wine Week at Smith & Wollensky's is the perfect meandering, relaxing afternoon get away for enjoying great food, service and friends in one of Philadelphia's finer restaurant."

  • "First time to visit the S&W in Philly, on a cold winter night. Steaks to perfection, excellent wine, wonderful salad and dessert - comfort food at the high end. Good location on Rittenhouse Square."

  • "Great dinner. We had an upstairs window table which was perfect for our evening. The Filet Oscar was exceptional. The Caesar Salad was the perfect starter and was big enough to share."

  • "I've been to lots of steak joints but Smith &Wollensky rates pretty high on the list. The food was great. My steak was cooked perfectly Our waiter was informative and friendly and laid back....not pretentious at all. We had a couple of drinks at the bar before our reservation which lingered beyond our seating time and the staff was very accommodating to let us continue. We had a really larger able for 4 with great window view of Rittenhouse Square. My only "critique" was that for a Friday night there was not a big crowd adding to a vibrant atmosphere. Overall a great experience and a place I would highly recommend."

  • "A great evening overall. My only reservation was that my steak (the big rib eye) was close to flavorless. My 2 dinner guests had filets that were better. Appetizers and sides were excellent, as was the service."

  • "We are usually regulars of Del Friscos, but couldn't get reservations so we decided to try something different. We had read some good reviews about this restaurant and decided to try it out. Absolutely won't do that again. First off the noise level was unbearable. It was so loud with patron noise that we could hardly hear each other above the deafening roar. It took one hour from the time we placed our order to receive our steak. The steak was not impressive at all. The seasoning was bland, and the cut reminded me of something we would purchase in our local supermarket. Not to mention it must have sat on the counter for a few minutes before we got it because it was nearly room temperature. We were so let down , waitress was nice."

  • "We decided to celebrate Valentine's day a little late this year and made it a group dinner. We all had a very good time at dinner and really enjoyed the food. We were happy they were able to sit us at a round table (group of 6) but wished it wasn't in the back corner of the restaurant."

  • "For me, spending $45 or more for just a piece of meat is a seldom indulgence. My guests and I were really excited to eat here...what a disappointment! For a place that isn't afraid to charge top dollar: After a delay, wrong dressing on wedge salad (second salad was awesome!). My filet was badly overcooked...twice!! Charred and tasteless. Very slow service. Server inquired about dessert so late we had to take it to go. There were no other tables being served. EMPTY! Manager and Server were nice, BUT Manager offered...nothing! No coffee, drink, dessert, gift card, credit...just an apology. NEVER would happen at Morton's or Ruth's Chris. Maybe that's why we were the only party. Sent email to restaurant 2 days ago...no response."

  • "We were seated upstairs at a window overlooking Rittenhouse Square. Great view, great dinner. Everything was cooked as requested and served in a timely fashion. Definitely will be coming here again. Don't be fooled by the hotel when you pull up for valet and they tell you Smith and Wollensky will validate your valet ticket. What they should say is "Smith and Wollensky will validate your ticket, but that's only for for a $5 discount. $25 more please.""

  • "S&W's brunch menu is limited but from a famous steak place, of course, their Steak & Eggs! We split the platter because two 4oz. medallions would be too much food. Our server, Bob, asked how we each wanted our steaks. Plate split; presentation beautiful. I think they gave us more mushrooms and potatoes than a single plate. We also split the lobster blt sandwich, which they gave us more chips. Our servers were great and even fun! S&W will now be our before-theater brunch place. Thanks S&W for a great time and brunch! (Also, our servers were very kind to this very grumpy, nasty diner across the way. Even though, it appeared that she did not order what she thought she had ordered. They fawned over her and turned her frown upside down.)"

  • "We requested a table by the window at the last minute and ended up with the best table in the restaurant! Service was fast and polite. We lingered for about 2.5 hours and were never rushed, even on a busy Saturday night! We were very impressed with everything, except the appetizers. For the price, there should be more food, but they were nonetheless very good. I may skip those next time so I have more room to finish dessert, which was amazing! Highly recommend the cheesecake and chocolate cake, which were so large we couldn't even finish between 4 people! We will be back!"

  • "Food was amazing starting with the bread. Our order to a little longer then expected not sure why. The server said it because my date ordered his steak medium well. The manager was ice enough to give us a complimentary round of drinks for the wait so that was nice. If your not sure what to order I recommend the truffle Mac and cheese. It's amazing."

  • "Server was terrible, didn't pay attention to us at all. Didn't acknowledge our reservation at all. And didn't get water throughout or meal. Food was great but the service was so bad I wouldn't do it again."

  • "We had a table for 4 by the window upstairs and it was quite pleasant and enjoyable until a large party nearby decided to play a phone guessing game - they became very very loud and it appeared that one of the management team (not a waiter) joined in or helped the game along. They were extremely loud, inconsiderate and inappropriate and the management did nothing to ask them to lower their voices or to play their game elsewhere. They finally had their birthday cake - were eating so it was quiet, then fortunately they left. It was very annoying and disappointing considering that we and others were there to enjoy a meal (expensive) and had to tolerate such behavior from grown people who should have known better."

  • "We had a drink at the bar, lobster cocktail and sliders for a late lunch, then had dinner later in the evening. The sliders were very good and flavorful, the lobster was also tasty. For dinner I had a coffee and cocoa rubbed filet and my wife had filet Oscar. My wife's was better, had nice flavor, big chunks or crab meat and asparagus. Mine was a little overcooked, not quite as flavorful as the Oscar despite the ancho chile butter. We had mac & cheese (excellent) as a side, plus onion rings (bland, not as good as any of the other steakhouse rings) and roasted root vegetables (also good). Iced cream for dessert was tasty. Overall it was nice. Had a great view of the park, was mostly quiet, house red wine was excellent."

  • "We dined here on the last night of the Center City Winter Restaurant Week and were blown away with the service as well as the three course prix-fixe menu. I have dined at three of their other locations, but this experience was by far the most superior service I had received at any of their locations and of the four restaurants at which I dined over the two week offer. Our waiter was very receptive of a food allergy and was extremely friendly, which is laudable given it was the last night of the deal. My filet was cooked to perfection and both my first course and dessert were outstanding. I would highly recommend Smith & Wollensky to anyone!"

  • "Although good, food and wine are overpriced even considering location. Had to share menus for a party of 8 because they did not have enough due to restaurant week. Extremely hot (as in temperature) dining room. Tried to check coat, but no one seemed to be there so had to sit with overcoat on back of chair."
