The ambiance is delightful in this pristine environment of high ceilings and nautical artwork. This is the perfect place for a romantic evening or a casual get together with friends. The location across from Rittenhouse Square provides a lovely view during dinner and a great leisurely stroll afterward. The food has been delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive. Each of our dining experiences were memorable ones.

Ok when I go to an expensive steakhouse I expect impeccable service. Unfortunately, although the restaurant was not even full, we were very disappointed in our service. Our water was not filled until after the check came (and we had to ask - we had 3 empty glasses), and when the waiter took away the main courses he left a table full of crumbs for 10 minutes while waiting for dessert. We saw other tables being promptly "de-crumbed" but not ours. The food was good - not great though for the price. Next time I'd probably choose a different steakhouse for a special occasion.

My friend and I dinned for restaurant week last week and were very pleased. You can't really go wrong with a steakhouse. Food was good and what I would expect from a upscale steakhouse (although I am really glad I didn't pay thought prices for it!). Views of Rittenhouse square were pretty and would be even prettier around the holidays. Service was great and friendly. The atmosphere is a bit boys-club. I think we were two of only maybe 8 women in the entire restaurant. The whole place was filled with tables and tables upon men. It has a cigar lounge type of feel to it. Great place to stretch out your restaurant week dollars!

I was part of a party of four who visited Smith & Wollensky during Restaurant Week. Our reservation was for 6:00 so we were a bit early for the Restaurant Week crowd. We all ordered steak (since it's a steakhouse) and the food was well prepared and delicious. The service was outstanding.

Place is nice, casual dining with $$$ cost we went during restaurant week, which luckily wasn't packed so the service and food were great. Everyone had the filet and all types of levels cooked all loved. Truffled mac and cheese very delicious. Bottle of wine for wine week to go with the meal, and dessert was perfect end to a great meal.

We had a party of 7 and came during restaurant week. We sat upstairs next to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Rittenhouse Square. The restaurant is beautiful, especially the view out their windows. The food and the service were terrific. Most of us dined on the restaurant week menu. One person ordered off the regular menu. No one was disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant and will be back.

Went to dinner with my wife and daughter. White wine was not chilled properly, wife's steak was overcooked and service was lacking. All employees including the manager seemed to be fixated on "old guy" with three "women" (and I use the term loosely). Waited fifteen minutes while the waitress was talking to the "women" who were merely drinking at the bar. The manager was so impressed with himself that he "talked the old guy" into staying at this restaurant instead of Ruth Chris. This establishment was one of my favorites prior to this night. With Devon and Parc right around the corner, I do not understand the decline in food and service as well as the poor behavior of the staff.

Dinner with a business client was exactly what it needed to be. We had a quiet outdoor table overlooking Rittenhouse Square. We found a nicely priced California Cab. Steaks were, as expected, great and cooked to perfection. Sides were unimaginative, traditional steak house sides, cooked to perfection. We found a local Victory beer; a nice touch to have local beers on a national chain's drinks list. We had a charming and knowledgeable waitress. And, of course, the same table was quite romantic with a special friend the day I moved into Center City. Predictable, mostly unchanged over the decades, and exactly what it needs to be.

As always our experience at Smith & Wollensky was outstanding. The service has always been 1st class. Our server Jawad is a true asset to the restaurant. His memory of what we like is amazing. The surf and turf was perfect as was the halibut. The wine that Jawad recommended was superb and the appetizers(his pick as well) were delicious. We enjoy Smith and Wollensky and find it to be one of the best restaurants in Philly.

Food was just ok but nothing special. Six of us and each ordered different things; everyone had this reaction. The steaks were the best; don't order non-beef. Touted pea soup was slightly better than Campbell's. Fish (both salmon and halibut) was fresh and prepared as ordered, but with absolutely no imagination, special flavor or accompaniment. They accommodated special request for grilled halibut rather than in stock. Wine list is ABYSMAL for a chain that should know about wine & the trends. Not a single sauvignon blanc from New Zealand; the (pricey) S&W signature CA sauvignon blanc was bitter, but not crisp; no citrus or mineral notes. S Ameriocan one not much better. Service unacceptably slow and inattentive with no crowd.

People in our group had Maine lobster, bone-in ribeye, bone-in filet, veal chop rib eye and pan seared salmon. Everyone thought their dishes were outstanding. Our side dishes included buttermilk onion rings and creamed spinach. Up-front dishes included the Wollensky salad, the white bean soup of the day, chilled iceberg lettuce and colossal lump crab meat cocktail. Each and every one of those dishes were also terrific.

I ordered a medium rare steak expecting a juicy filet from a top steak house on Rittenhouse Sq. My steak was red and extremely dry in the center and flavorless. Also, would have expected mor choices as sides. Only green veggie was grilled asparagas. I was dining with a customer who ordered the ribeye and said his was fine. I did not send mine back or complain because I did not want to interrupt the dinner meeting. Will not return. Worst steak ever at a high end steakhouse but the company and dinner conversation was exceptional.

Go for the steak and nothing else - it was very good. It's ambience is dated - as if they are established and no need to impress. Sides and salads - and even the bread - were rich and laden with oils. This is definitely a one and done kind of restaurant. Our waiter Rick was great and down to earth as well as informative. The overall price wasn't too bad considering the name and location, however, $30 for valet parking was a bit steep for 90 minutes.

I can easily tell that it was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my life (& I have been to a lot of top steak-houses in North America). We went for my boyfriend's Birthday. From the beginning everyone knew already & wishes him happy birthday! They gave him a b-day card too not to mention a complementary birthday cake slice at the end :-) it was absolutely delicious. We both had the 14 ounce filet mignon. He had it medium & I had it done medium rare. It was exquisite. It melted in our mouths & the price was extremely reasonable compared to other steakhouses in the area. We had the duck-fat roasted vegetables & the wild mushroom sides for two. Amazing! Service was highly professional & impeccable. Stunning views of Rittenhouse square!
