We were greeted friendly and were immediately brought to a lovely, albeit small table at the window. Beautiful view on Rittenhouse Square. Friendly attentive waiter who made us feel very comfortable. Filet Mignon was exactly cooked well. The sea as was great. Presentation was very nice. A nice gesture by offering a nice piece of chocolate cake was offered for my husband 's birthday. Overall great visit!

Food is consistently pedestrian; steak tartare was bland. Iceberg wedge was fresh and crisp but inundated with way too much dressing. It was early lunchtime and the restaurant was almost empty so the service was good.

Started off bad with a long delay at the bar for service, however that being said Smith & Wollensky reconigzed the error and bought us a round of drinks, and the evening contiued with an amazing dinner from the signature salad to the bone in rib eye. Our waiter was wonderful and attentive with excellant suggestions. Ending with the banana bread and ice cream. Cant wait to go back. Oh did I tell you the view of Rittenhouse Square was out our window. Just beautiful.

We eat out in Philadelphia three to four times a week. This was a Tuesday night a dinner for two for my wife's birthday. Restaurant was empty one other couple, small party in another room. Birthday card on the table (nice touch) The appetizer recommended was beef bacon "to die for" it was served cold and very, very hard to chew not to our taste. The main course a porter house steak for two, the presentation was great but the steak was cold. The only part of this meal we enjoyed was the vegetables perfect. You had to ask for bread it was not offered. They gave my wife a piece of chocolate cake on the house for desert.

Food was good and the service was good, but I couldn't find the reason for everything being so overpriced. I get the steaks being expensive b/c of the quality of meat, but the drinks are out of control expensive and the special (buy bottle of wine and a filet and get one filet free) wasn't so special. Wine was $195 and I have had better $15 Cabernets. We ate upstairs and the ambiance was okay, I just prefer a dimmer setting. It has bit of a pretentious feel to it, not that we were treated badly, I guess I just didn't get it. For the price I had better experiences at Capital Grill and Butcher and Singer. I haven't been to Del Frescos.

The food was grand--tuna tartare a high recommendation; the split pea soup? Meh. I had the filet Rossini (with foie gras) and my boyfriend had the Oscar, and we got a bottle of wine at the recommendation of the waiter. Both were cooked to perfection. We didn't order any sides. It was his birthday, and I had indicated that when I made the reservation, so they did put a card on our table. However, I also called that day to pre-order a dessert, reminded them when we checked in, and said something to the waiter. The waiter forgot, and forgot to bring my coffee as well. That was somewhat disappointing. So all told, a good meal. Was it worth the $400? Probably not.

This past Saturday we enjoyed another fantastic meal at S&W. We introduced my son and his girl to the place and they loved it too. S&W is a top shelf steakhouse and the service is top shelf. If you go make your experience one to really remember and request Jawad as your server. He takes the place up a notch. The food is excellent and the wine list is a complete delight.

Restaurant was quiet, not many patrons. Food was okay, but not great. We could have gotten a similar meal for 1/3 the cost at the same quality. Not a single thing "wow'd" us. Just mediocre food, nothing unique nor prepared exceptionally well. Service was okay, however took very long. Servers were friendly, but several things were requested and then forgotten. For a $350 meal for a party of 6 I would have expected much much more. I don't think I would return.

S&W is well known for the quality of their food and service as well as a great location. Personally I expect the food to be excellent and am hopeful that the service will provide me with an experience to remember. When you're tipping on a bill of this magnitude, you want to be sure that you're service is better than average...not stuffy, just attentive. Unfortunately I haven't got that feeling the past two visits to the Rittenhouse Square S&W. It seems that the level of service is approaching standard and I'm not interested in tipping $50+ for that. There are lots of places where I can get a really good steak. The window view is great, especially around Christmas but I'm losing interest.

This is a favorite spot for my friends and I to dine in Center City. Whether you choose to dine in the cozy comfy first floor bar or the elegant clubby second floor overlooking the Square, you"ll find delicious food and outstanding service. We've been spoiled by Javaha and Jawad at lunch in the bar room and feel like we're at home. However, it's better than home as they serve you warm pretzel bread with flavored butter upon being seated! At night, we love Jessie who is an outstanding and delightful server. The management is very attentive and always stops by to see that we're happy with our meals. You can't get better than this and the steaks are superb!

Another wine week has come and gone, and as usual, Smith & Wollensky came up 4 aces! It's so nice to go to a restaurant and be able to dine at your leasure and not feel you are being pushed out the door in order to fill the table with another customer. Even though the place was not filles as it was lunch, it was still another great experience and the food was spectacular as usual. The wait staff was very attentive and the wine stewards were excellent. I'm already looking forward to the next adventure!

Ok when I go to an expensive steakhouse I expect impeccable service. Unfortunately, although the restaurant was not even full, we were very disappointed in our service. Our water was not filled until after the check came (and we had to ask - we had 3 empty glasses), and when the waiter took away the main courses he left a table full of crumbs for 10 minutes while waiting for dessert. We saw other tables being promptly "de-crumbed" but not ours. The food was good - not great though for the price. Next time I'd probably choose a different steakhouse for a special occasion.

My friend and I dinned for restaurant week last week and were very pleased. You can't really go wrong with a steakhouse. Food was good and what I would expect from a upscale steakhouse (although I am really glad I didn't pay thought prices for it!). Views of Rittenhouse square were pretty and would be even prettier around the holidays. Service was great and friendly. The atmosphere is a bit boys-club. I think we were two of only maybe 8 women in the entire restaurant. The whole place was filled with tables and tables upon men. It has a cigar lounge type of feel to it. Great place to stretch out your restaurant week dollars!
