Smith & Wollensky Boston – Back BayGreat steaksThis was my second time at S&W. They didn't disappoint. I had the 28oz bone in ribeye done medium rare and charred on the outside - it was done to perfection and delectable. Keep it up!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose S&W because we wantedWe chose S&W because we wanted to give our Chinese colleague the best steak of his life; S&W delivered. The steaks were to die for; service was excellent; it was a superb dining experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Place to BeThis probably my 6th visit t Smith & Wollensky and I have not be disappointed. The food is delish.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Anniversary! It was our anniversary, and they danced attention upon us. We got a glass of champagne and an appetizer gratis, an anniversary card signed by the staff, the waiter was courteous and helpful, the wine was generous and the food was excellent. Made a special event even more special--and the building--an old armory from the 1800's--alone is worth the visit.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a first class steakhouse. This is a first class steakhouse. Service is top notch. I recommend this establishment as it's not the trendiest place in town, you can get a table on short notice- and the décor is amazing. Had a problem with the bone-in rib eye. It was just a bad steak. Thick gristle in the body of the steak; you expect marbling in a prime cut- not large inedible portions. Once cut away, it was still as fine a piece of meat as one can get- it just was a much smaller portion. I'd skip the rib eye. Stick to the filets (the cocoa/coffee rub was incredible) and the sirloins, and you'll be fine.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWanted to experience a classicWanted to experience a classic East coast steakhouse experience and this certainly fit the bill !
The steaks were wonderful quality, but were excessively big , and I'd be happy to pay a little less and have a smaller portion. Good service and ambience , would definitely come again.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile it was a nice place,While it was a nice place, it was far too expensive! We paid over $200.00 for dinner for 2 people. The food was good not fantastic and certainly not worth that much. I have eaten in places where the food was much better and have paid half that price including drinks.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSmith and Wollensky is oneSmith and Wollensky is one of my favorite steak house chains, but the Boston location in the old armory provides a great meal with wonderful ambiance. Highly recommended the food is wonderful, the service excellent and the wine list is very good.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service! This is our second time at this location and it was just as perfect as the first time, at least 5 years ago. I am glad to see that they are able to maintain their excellent standards in every department. The food was incredible, and the waiters were extremely attentive. I never waited more than 30 seconds for empty dishes to be removed, refill on the water, or anything else. Extremely attentive without being annoying. We had the 48 oz. Porterhouse for two, which is absolutely fantastic! It comes with a vegetable medley (potatoes, carrots, green beans) so you do not have to order sides. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be coming back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food as always,Delicious food as always, and the staff even celebrated my first anniversary with my girlfriend! it was fantastic, truly.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall it was excellent howeverOverall it was excellent however we were never offered coffee and waited a long time for someone to return to either order coffee or ask for our bill.
Excellent wine list though pricey.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bone-in ribeye was perfectlyThe bone-in ribeye was perfectly prepared and super delicious. And huge. The hash browns were excellent, as always. The green beans were flavorful and crisp. This is such a dependable restaurant if you're looking for a good steak. The waiter, Dean, was friendly and helpful. And you can't beat the room for atmosphere and history. We'd read up on the history of the castle before going, and that added to the fun. We loved that the restaurant had artifacts from the building's long history on display.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThe restaurant was amazing. I chose this place for a date night and it was the right choice! We enjoyed the drinks and the food was exceptional. The castle was great I loved the history and was very surprised to find out how many dining rooms that have. We came early to enjoy the bar, they were able to seat us earlier which was very nice of them. My only minor upset was that the bartender was friendly but I felt that since it was not that busy yet he seemed preoccupied. But what can you do. We will be returning! That you.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant value. WeGreat restaurant value. We added a. Potato but there was plenty of food & steak was Very good . One person ate off the regular menue & that T bone was also very good
Service was attentive. We sat near the fireplace & the space was very tight for my 6 ft husband. Even for my petite daughter who was next to the service area. Need much better placement of tables.
The was a VERY loud group in this little room & everyone gave them stares. Unfortunately the staff joined them too often in their talks instead of hushing them3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went in for restaurantWe went in for restaurant week, for the $40 dinner and had a great time! The food is delicious, filet mignon cooked really well, the restaurant has a really interesting interior and we had a lovely date night.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good exceptThe food was very good except that they used too much salt and pepper3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWas there on restaurant week. Was there on restaurant week. Soup and filet mignon were delicious. Dessert, however, is dissapointing.
In addition, they charge extra for the filet mignon in the restaurant week and don´t put any sides with it. There are alternatives in Boston to that.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived the host was veryWe arrived the host was very helpful and attentive. It was a relaxed feeling in the restaurant. The location is definitely historic since it is in a castle. The bread served before the meal was warm and tasty. The Wollensky Salad was a simple but delicious salad.
Our main entree was cooked to perfection. We ordered the Filet Mignon and the Ribeye, side Asparagus and Mushrooms.
For dessert we had the Chocolate Cake it was ok.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMService started off very strongService started off very strong then weakened half way through serviceCreamed spinach had cooled before servingSteaks were awesome, as usual3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
