  • "S&W is the most consistent in its excellence of all the major steakhouses! Loved it!"

  • " Both of our steaks had to be returned to the kitchen when they arrived at the table rare, not medium well and well done as requested. This should never happen at a steak house at this price point and especially when there was only one other party in the whole dining room on Saturday afternoon at 4pm. It should not be a challenge to cook a steak properly if that is your claim to fame. Our server (Megan M) did her best to rectify the situation but management was apathetic and unapologetic when informed."

  • "Everything from the presentation to the quality of the food was sensational. Waiter was there for everything. Event talked us into smaller side portions, which is always appreciated."

  • "We had the best experience starting at the Valet. Everyone was so pleasant and courteous. Our waiter was phenomenal and explained everything. The food was out of this world delicious! We were too full for dessert. So happy we decided to go here. Added little courtesy, we found two small cellophane bags in our car coffee holders with cookies in them and a card from the Valet!!!"

  • "Smith & Wollensky's was a great place to go for a special birthday dinner. The food was fabulous! I love the gorgonzola encrusted fillet, and the mac n cheese is wonderfully endulgent. It's their tradition to present the birthday guest with an enormous slice of rich chocolate cake on the house, which was a really nice touch to the evening. Also, the service we had was above and beyond what I typically experience at most restaurants. Great night out!"

  • "That Cajun is full of flavor. Not a "spicy" foodie but this flavor just brings out the dry aged beef so well and still feel like butter....."

  • "My husband and I always have our anniversary dinner in Boston. We don't mind spending money on a great meal once a year. This was not great at all. My husband ordered the $54 rib-eye which was covered in awful buttered breadcrumbs, extremely rare, and he likes it pink, and was placed on top of what he said tasted like burnt pan drippings. Wonderful. I'll admit he is picky, especially when it comes to steak--he can cook steak well--and I wish we would have stayed home and I had let him cook, like he suggested. Live and learn. We never knew our waiter's name because he and about 3 other guys were always at our table dropping or picking things up. Not the trendy atmosphere that we prefer either. Good for business dinners/lunches."

  • "The food was really good, but everything else (environment, service) was pretty much just average. At this price point, there are much better options."

  • "One can never have a bad time or meal at Smith & Wollensky's. We were a corporate table of 6 so we could afford the better wine and steak entrees. Everything was delicious, on time, as ordered and our waiter was a hoot!"

  • "They told me I needed to write a review so here it is. Great spot for business lunch"

  • "Service was very poor, as was the food. Generally speaking, this S&W is very good, but this experience was not even as good as a local Chili's. Multiple requests for condiments like horseradish never arrived at the table even after multiple requests. Appetizers arrived with the main meal over 30 minutes after ordering and the server's only explanation, "Well, sir, you can obviously see we're busy!" It wasn't that busy, there were multiple open tables. Steak with the wedge salad was cold, the au poivre filet was more an au poivre soup with some filet thrown in as a garnish. Maybe if the server could have kept our drinks and waters filled as we waited I would give this experience two stars rather than one."

  • "Extremely blown away at how delicious the food was. Would pay double the price for what I had. Worth every cent and then some. We will definitely come back. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was not over the top compared to the price of the food. Simple but yet elegant."

  • "Laura was absolutely fantastic. Personable and attentive! She was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. Tisho and Ivo helped to make my night out with my boyfriend very special and memorable as well. We will definitely be back! Everything was delicious and the service was amazing."

  • "Everything was very good except after we initially ordered wine, the waiter told us that there was a deal and we could save money by ordering a wine special. We would then get a free filet dinner. So we cancelled our wine order and replaced it with the new "deal." We got a free filet dinner, but the wine turned out to be $155 and we ended up spending a lot more than what we had originally ordered. In retrospect, we should have asked how much the "deal" was, but we took the word of the waiter that we would be saving money with the deal. Sides were were great."

  • "We went to S&W for my boyfriends birthday and had a great experience. Our waiter was on point and the atmosphere was lively. Since they knew it was his birthday from my reservation request that brought out a huge slice if chocolate cake. We had a great time and the experience matched the value"

  • "For the amount we paid -entrees could've been better. We only came here for the Cajun Marinated Ribeye as it was mentioned on the Travel Channel -disappointment. Cajun Marinated Ribeye - Medium Rare -not very cajun crusted nor flavorful -had to bring back to get it a little more charred. Signature Ribeye -again could've been more flavorful - hardly any seasoning. Veal Chop -Good size but not very flavorful - bland Sea Bass - for $41 -definitely could've been better -if not for the shrimp bisque and fingerling potatoes -fish definitely would've been blah. The french fries were on the skimpy side for $11 The asparagus and mushrooms were very good The best part was the desserts. The waiter was not too bad but could've been more attentive."

  • "I truly enjoyed S&W. The food was wonderful and the service was too of the line. The steak is quite good and the salmon is some of the best in Boston! Definitely will go again."

  • "I recently took a friend to Smith & Wollensky for a birthday lunch. I had never been there and am not a huge steak house person but it was a great experience. The ambience was nice and comfortable but rather formal. The service was unparalleled. Truly outstanding. We both had salads and they were huge but fresh and delicious. We declined dessert but because it was my friend's birthday, they brought a piece of chocolate cake, the size of an entire cake. There was no singing or hoopla, just nice understated acknowledgment of the birthday. My daughter and I have been working on it for several days. I'm not even a huge chocolate cake fan but this cake is truly divine. Moist and rich but not too dense. All around a great experience."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere on a Sunday night for a birthday dinner. Service was excellent - perfect mix of attentiveness without hovering. The food was plentiful and very good. Servings sizes were large and could easily be shared. Very expensive"

  • "The only thing I would say was very good was the service. The waiter was very personable and attentive to a food allergy. However everything else was fair. The atmosphere was not vibrant at all, the steaks totally average. The sides were bland. Del Friscos has it all over this place....I'm guessing because of it's location at the tail end of the Financial District, its a better atmosphere during the week vs a Saturday night. With all the options to eat in town, would not go back. Seemed to be people celebrating birthdays or tourists."

  • "When dinner for 5 costs $900 there ought to be a reaction like 'wow - that was great!' instead of 'bummer, I have to remember not to do that again'. Wine list was long and large but did not have depth. The wine selected did not come out in the vintage listed. When this was pointed out by me they gave a 'well that is what we now' have excuse and offered to exchange for another choice. We noted up front about gluten intolerance and the waiter caught on after items were ordered with subtle flour content - he did not catch it, the non-gluten intolerate had to ask again and the waiter had to double check not really knowing himself. Apps were OK....nothing was out of this world however. Steaks were OK. Guess I'm not a fan of steakhouses."

  • "Been to several Smith and Wolwnsky but they seem to be going down. Tables were so close I could hear the people next yo us breath. Quality of steak not as good as in the past. My choice of beverage is Crown Royal but they only serve Crown Black. Just an excuse to charge $14 for a drink. I'll go to Flemings next time."

  • "We were looking for a restaurant with a good reputation for steak. The location, food, ambiance and service were all perfect. We were able to customize our meal and sides to make it just the right amount for each of us."

  • "I had the Wollensky salad with the steak tenderloin on top. The meat literally tasted like garbage. The server stopped by when we first got our food to see if everything was okay, but I hadn't tasted the food yet. She came back again and filled someone's water glass, but never made eye contact and she was gone before I had a chance to say anything. I was with a client, so I didn't want to make a scene. I told the person who cleared my plate that the meat tasted off. He kind of grumbled, then put my dish on top of the serving cart, while the other dishes were put on lower racks. I'm not sure if they wanted to check out my plate, but no other comment made. I won't be coming back."

  • "I haven't had a bad meal at Smith and Wollensky's and this one didn't disappoint either. Went with the filet with side of potatoes and roasted mushrooms. My only complaint was that the waiter was a little pushy with the expensive wines. Let me take a minute to review the menu, man! I can pick my own wine."

  • "Food was great although sides not as hot as it should have been. Only creamed spinach was hot. My husband requested a cake (it was my birthday and our 20th anniversary celebration) and we got a huge slice of cake and other deserts."

  • "My husband and I chose Smith and Wollensky for dinner before a concert based on reputation and that we had a gift card. Dinner was one of the most delicious I have had! Our waiter was knowledgeable and forthcoming. I based all of my choices on his recommendations and could not have been more pleased. The limited availability wine list was a fun addition to the already deep set of selections. Our choice of a Spanish red was excellent and delivered what was promised. The low-key atmosphere, outdoor dining experience, friendly staff and wonderful food made for a lovely evening and a relaxing way to start our night!"

  • "This is an excellent restaurant overall. The steaks - as expected - were outstanding; most of the seafood good. My entree of lobster-claws was pretty much tasteless; the thinly-chopped greens accompanying the claws poorly chosen, while the mango-salsa presented very little interest. Was this perhaps a diet dish? Anyway: I would never order that again! Also disappointing: after waiting quite a while for a specific wine, we were told that it wasn't available. However, a pleasant surprise (I do NOT remember indicating that this was a birthday party) was, first, a birthday card for the guest of honor and, later, a free birthday cake that everyone found delicious. The service was excellent; the dining-room great; the location perfect."

  • "Arguably the best high end steakhouse in Boston. The food is consistently good. If you're looking for amazing traditional steak, S&W is the place to go."
