  • "A waiter spilled three glasses of ice water on our (adult) son. Shirt soaked and cold in the AC, he left for home. Manager Val Domnici was nice, recognized that our evening was ruined also because our son had to leave, and gave us our three dinners on the house. But he gave us no incentive to come back again. I told a manager at another restaurant about this and he said they should have given us a card for another dinner on them. As it is, we'll probably not go back."

  • "While service at S&W is usually impeccable, we noted that our server spoke too quietly, especially for outdoor lunch dining, was not attentive to our empty glasses, did not ask how our meals were once they were delivered, and cleared my plate while I was still chewing (not asking if I was finished)! I chalk this up as a fluke because great service is one of the many reasons we keep coming back to S&W. Lunch salads were outstanding and the outdoor dining experience is always special."

  • "I went to Smith & Wollensky during Restaurant Week earlier this spring, knowing that as a vegetarian, there wouldn't be much selection available. What I was not expecting was such an atrocious handling of the food I was served. I paid $40 for a a giant, bland head of cauliflower that was essentially untreated with any sort of seasoning and left entirely uncut. Parts of it were still raw when it arrived at the table. While I understand Smith & Wollensky is primarily serves steak, I do not understand how something more creative could not be done with the cauliflower. Or, at the very least, to serve it well-cooked and well-seasoned. A gratin or some pureed soup--anything other than a nearly inedible chunk of cauliflower--would have sufficed."

  • "Dined for lunch twice in one week (week of June 16th) and both times it took 35-40 to receive our meals, which was much longer than usual. Our lunch on second occassion was complimentary after asking waiter why the length of time to receive our meals, which we appreciated. Waiter was very frustrated with kitchen."

  • "I typically go to S&W 4 times a year and its always great. Steaks are outstanding. This time around, we ate outside and the 4 of us ordered Steaks (3 Rib eye bone in and 1 other). The 1 other was perfectly cooked (Medium Rare- Deep red, seered well). The 3 Rib Eye's were medium well, (We all ordered medium rare). I never do this, but for a 51 dollar steak, I decided to send it back (the 2 others followed). They were gracious on giving us a couple more sides and a BIG desert at the end (compliments). The 2nd round of Steaks were rare/medium rare. The cook missed the target this day. I thought someone should know, since Steaks are your thing."

  • "While making my online reservation, I left a note that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived, we were promptly seated at a table that had a Happy Anniversary card from the manager. Our waiter was very attentive, but never pushy, and he made us feel as if we were his only table, even though he was waiting on at least three others. At the end of our delicious meal, we were surprised when we were brought a complimentary dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a romantic evening."

  • "I frequent this restaurant regularly and it's usually 5 stars accross the board. This Sunday was a big graduation day accross the city for Colleges and High Schools. It was very busy and I noticed a slight lapse in service. Small stuff like taking away sides with 50% left and not asking if we wanted them wrapped to go. We did, and they threw them out. I assumed they were packaging them up. Again, most had enought to take home. Desert also arrived about 10 minutes ahead of the coffee, should be the other way around or simultaneous. There was also no offerring of fresh wipped cream to top the deserts which my kids love."

  • "Made the reservation, requested a booth if possible. Upon arrival, friendly staff and we were escorted to our booth!! So happy. Waiter was fabulous - Zack. Helped us pick a delicious Pinot Noir with dinner. Shriimp coctail appetizers were amazing with our Prosecco. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, along with our sides. We had so much catching up to do, we talked the entire evening. No room for dessert. Zack didn't rush us or make us feel like we had to move on. Perfect evening. Definitely will go back. "

The table location was perfect (near the window/water); the service was not rushed and perfect for checking back several times and the food was amazing. I would not recommend the bone in filet; I think you get more without the bone. Both dinner's were amazing! S & W has not missed a beat here!!!"

Be specific about how you want your steak cooked, if you order some, though. The only issue I had was that they didn't have one of the sides orders we wanted.
