Diner Reviews
  • "I went to this restaurant to do some work and watch the soccer game before an evening meeting. The wait staff was helpful, polite and efficient. Pulled pork flatbread was perfect as were the drink specials to complete the meal. All other patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves as well. Loud but it was a soccer game and added to the atmosphere. A large group event was taking place upstairs and did not take away from the service or experience downstairs. Will definitely return."

  • "Our small office is close by and we often go to Slainte for a special occasion at lunch or after work because we know the food will be delicious and the service will be good. Great pub atmosphere in an ancient stone warehouse right downtown. It's often quite busy, especially in the evening, but the wait staff are very friendly and work hard to make sure things move along. Sometimes its a little noisy, and I was a little concerned when I reserved for lunch for our most recent visit because we'd have a baby with us. Thankfully, it was a quiet day. We had a delicious meal (as usual) and the baby had a fine time too. I always recommend Slainte with confidence."

  • "I was referred to Slainte for a work event I was throwing by one of the attendees, but was disappointed the main dishes were all sold out but it was only 5:30pm. The waitress told us from the beginning, which was great but those who came for the food Slainte's was known for were very dissapointed. Overall the atmosphere for a private event was great and Food was good. "

  • "Great location, typical pub food with good quality at reasonable prices. Service was fast and friendly and changes to the dishes accommodated easily. For instance, the two gluten free folks at our table ordered a wrapless breakfast wrap and the dish was presented in an imaginative way with a few extras. The Blarney Chips were a big hit at the table, next time we will order 2 for a table of six as an appetizer. $4 Caesars on a Sunday, they were spicey and tasty."

  • "Enjoyed the ambiance and the portion sizes were larger than expected. I was a little surprised by the wait staff's attire. I don't remember it being that revealing when I was there in the past and I was a little embarrassed to have dinner there with friends at 5:30pm. It would have been more appropriate to bring a change of clothes for the late night crowd later on. On the menu the sandwich options were written as plural but there was only one option. Perhaps offering better selection there would be helpful as a lighter meal. Overall not a bad experience just not how I remembered it."

  • "I've been going to Slainte for years and have never been disappointed. Great ambiance, food, and service! It's also a locavore restaurant, which is great for Ontario's economy."

  • "I enjoyed my leek and salmon pie. My husband's hamburger was dry and overcooked but his french fries were delicious. I was a little disappointed in the lack of choice in deserts. Portions are large. The location/atmosphere is interesting as it is in a very old building filled with antiques. You get the feeling that you could be in an Irish pub. It was early and there were a lot of families there with small children. Our hostess was rather inappropriately dressed for this time of the day, given the customer base."

  • "We have eaten at Slainte Irish Pub several times over the last 2 years and have always found the food to be very good, and the prices very reasonable. We know that we can always count on a great dining experience at Slainte."

  • "There were 3 in our party. We ordered the shepherds pie, burger, and steak and mushroom dish. All were large portions and great tasting. Nice to see a pub have a burger with no antibiotics or hormones. Definitely worth the visit."

  • "We were looking for a pub style place to each before the show. This was the perfect choice. Good location. Food was great and we tried some new things. Service was excellent as well."

  • "We met new friends from Ingersoll who came in specifically for a group event - we decided to have dinner ahead of time. Our server Stephanie seemed to have difficulty right from the start. Her attention to details was poor. She took the drink order and forgot our friend's coffee. He asked twice. Steak pie dinner order - pastry was raw - this happened twice. Stephanie was somewhat slow to react. It was removed off the bill. She forgot coffee again, forgot another drink and did not refill the water. General very poor service. Not like the place was brimming with people or she was run off her feet. At one point we went to the bar to ask for service. Grrrrr"

  • "Found this restaurant online as we were attending an event at COPPS Coliseum that evening. Loved the old building, our waiter was friendly and described the menu really well. She had each of us (myself, husband, and 2 sons) ordering something different then originally picked because of her recommendations. The food was steaming hot! Large portions, but not exceedingly so. We'll definitely consider Slainte again when in Hamilton."

  • "The service was great and the food came quick considering we were a group of eight. The waitress was friendly and the food was good. Loved that the place had online reservations. First time user and loved the convenience. Made our night out much easier to organize. No waiting for a table."

  • "Service and Meal was great, quiet evening as it was one day before New Year's Eve. Only downfall was that the cash registers were not working, fortunately I had enough cash to cover the bill."

  • "Had my going away party there this past Saturday. Table for 12 booked but I think there was about 16 of us. Our server Sarah was lovely. They kept the drinks (both water and booze) coming. We were definitely the loud ones in the pub but they were great about it. We all had an amazing night! Thanks!"

  • "We had friends in town we hadn't seen for a while, so we chose Slainte for dinner and drinks. Our reso was for 7:30, and I was surprised it wasn't busier as I'd been before (maybe not on a Saturday) and it was very busy. We had an appetizer to share, a few drinks and our entree's. The server was great, she was around when you needed her, but she didn't hover. The food was really good..the menu is short for entrees, but everything looks good. We will definitely go back, on our own or with friends."

  • "Our reserved seats were in a corner spot that didn't offer much in the line of visability which was a disappointment especially because it was our first time."

  • "I reserved 4 places initially. Had to add another one later but couldn't figure out how (learned how to do it the next day). Slainte was understanding and found a nice table for us. They lowered the music after my Mom, who is a senior, asked them to. They had a kid's menu for my niece. I ordered the Dublin Bridie with fries. The food was hot and delicious. The server, Shivaun ( I know that's not traditional but I'm fairly sure that's how she spells it), was fabulous. She was friendly and efficient and made us feel very welcome."

  • "Our experience at Slainte was seamless. We were a group of 7 and we had a perfect dining experience. Our waitress was friendly and easy going. She made us feel welcome and comfortable there. Most of us had not been there before so we asked lots of questions which were answered with a happy attitude. Our food was very good with good sized portions. We have no complaints or suggestions because we were very pleased."

  • "Good pub atmosphere, not recommended if dark places bother you! Needs better seating for big groups (6+) The outstanding food makes up for all other deficiencies."

  • "Great place to go for good beers and great food. Service is fast and pleasant. Atmosphere is relaxed but fun but too young or old. Very clean washrooms. Loved it! Enjoyed drinks and dinner before an event at Copp's but could have easily stayed there for an evening of listening to music that was not too loud. Music was current and popular, even had room to dance. Great overall experience."

  • "Thought we would try this place out before our concert at Copps as the menu looked and boasted of fresh and tasty food. We started with some wings which were okay standard bar wings, then my son and I had the burgers which were suppose to be 5oz but looked more like 3oz and very plain tasting not much flavor at all, my wife had the perch and again not much flavor at all. Luckily we are not very picky folks or the review would have probably been a lot worse. I would not recommend this place as they also ran out of the Creemore after 1 pint."

  • "We traveled from the United States for a wedding in Hamilton Ontario and thanks to Open Table found the Slainte Irish Gastro Pub. The food was outstanding especially the leek and salmon pie. Emma, our waitress, was wonderful. The atmosphere, with Irish music playing in the background, was quite enjoyable. If it wasn't for the 700 miles between us, we would definitely be back. We highly recommend that you experience Slainte and if you go please say hello to Emma."

  • "The food was good. Typical pub style decor. Service was very good. If you like the pub style diner dining this place is ok. I am surprised that there are no gluten free choices on the menu. Many better restaurants wil usually have some choices for those that prefer gluten free."

  • "We have been several times in the past and enjoyed every single thing about it. This time the food was rushed and less appealing which was sad because we were bringing people for their first time."
