  • "We recently celebrated my birthday at Skyline Terrace. Service was excellent for our group of 12, food was delicious. Watching the races from the dining room made it feel like a special event, they even named a race in my honor and I was able to present the owner of the winning horse with a trophy. The buffet is extensive and reasonably priced but you can also order off of the menu. We had 2 children with us and they were graciously welcomed by the staff. The Casino is large with a non-smoking section, no one under 21 is allowed. My favorite horse did not win nor did I make my fortune at the Casino but it was such a nice evening we have already made plans to return."

  • "If you are planning on watching the horse races, this is by far the best place. You can sit right next to the window and see the entire track. There is a TV at every table that gives you information on the races and you can purchase programs and place bets right in the dining room. The buffet is really good - lots of choices for everyone. The nights we went we had steak and shrimp along with basic buffet food. They have tons of desserts -everyone will find something. You can also order a la carte if you don't want the buffet."

  • "We got a lovely birthday platter, the food was good. The only complaint I would note is that the Terrace is not a great place to go if you notice it's busy - our ticket took an hour to come to our table. The noise level was fine, until the races really got started. Some of the groups there were very noisy. It's a great choice if you don't mind noise. On a quiet day, it's a perfect date place."

  • "The food was prepared tastefully, but was not hot when served. the ice cream sat too long on the bread pudding before being served and has begun to melt. Heated food needs to be served promptly while piping hot. Ice cream on bread pudding needs to be served immediately once the ice cream is on the pudding. More attention to refilling water glasses."

  • "We went to the Charles Town races Sat. Prime rib and sea food buffet on 6/28/14 This is advertised as a prime rib and sea food buffet. The sea food selection was minimal. There was one fish selection, butterfly shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, and mussels. For a $28.00 buffet claiming to be a sea food buffet this was very disappointing. Golden corral offers more selections same quality for $10.00 We have been going to the Sunday brunch at Charles Town for years and it offered more sea food selections than the so called Friday and Saturday sea food buffet did. The service was great. We left after the 3rd race because we were so disappointed. Call it what it is a buffet, just don't advertise is as a sea food buffet."

  • "If you enjoy horse races and eating this is a fun place. We had the buffet for $26.95. There was a large selection of food to include prime rib, fish, and shrimp. More desserts than anyone would ever need. The food was ok."

  • "We wanted a different way to spend an evening and this certainly provided that. Our server, Stella, did a wonderful job. Our entrees were very good (salmon for the other three and seafood platter for me). My sides of steak fries and mushrooms were poor - I could not finish them. It was very exciting to be able to watch the races while dining, an experience we want to repeat. The only other problem was that half the betting stations were manned, so several people were cut out and we're unable to place their bets. A good night out that we will repeat."

  • "2nd time eating/visiting and had a great time with 2 other friends chilling out at the horse racing. Would recommend the place to everyone, and you don't have to be a gambler to enjoy…. because I'm not."

  • "We moved away from the No.Virginia area 15 years ago and returned for a visit with a night at the Races.....great time."

  • "We have been coming to this restaurant for years - even prior casino days and we always enjoy ourselves and our meal. We are not sure what happened but not only did we have a bad meal but we both agreed it was the worse meal we have had there and really anywhere recently. Top it off with a hefty price tag and it just doesn't encourage me to try again any time soon. The restaurant does a splendid job on buffets (this was a menu meal) but we love the option of a menu. The wait staff overall is very good. This particular night ours was doing his job but overly chatty - very inappropriately jumping in to conversations and truly made us want to leave. However, this is not the norm. I say try it and hope this was a one time deal."

  • "This is a great place for family outings. The food is very good, the Seniors can bet indoors, and the kids love to go to the paddock to see the horses (adults, too, for that matter). Wish they would re- institute Sunday afternoon brunch/racing."

  • "Unbelievably disorganized. We used to visit this place several time a year. This was our first trip back after a couple of years and were completely disappointed. The betting and the buffet lines mixing was a complete mess and made for a hostile environment. My wife and I left after the 3rd race."

  • "Place was packed, the hostess told us they expected 500 the night we were there. So, the buffet lines were very long and slow. The prime rib was tasty but very rare and bloody. Waitress was busy so not as attentive as usual. The horse races are always fun even if we don't pick the winner."

  • "For several yrs, it's become our Father's Day tradition to go to Sky Line Terrace buffet @ The Hollywood Casino to enjoy the horseracing @Charlestown Races. The thrill of the races while enjoying a yummy assortment of food & drink options makes for a most enjoyable day/night out!"

  • "This was the 3rd year in a row for us to go for my husband's birthday. He likes to bet on the horses and eat at the buffet. The buffet is more fun than great food. There is a good selection. The food is good, not great. Good selection of desserts. The waitress was lacking in times to the table. It took a long time to get drinks. But we had a good crew with us and had fun."

  • "The buffet at the Charles Town racetrack is reasonably good - prime rib doesn't have much taste but looks good. Seafood is tasty. Other vegetables and salads are good. Desserts are just okay but the bread pudding is outstanding. Love watching the races while eating."

  • "We chose the restaurant for the view of the race trace at Charles Town. The restaurant is tiered and has a glass wall so you can watch the races. There is also a small TV screen at each table to watch horse racing. There is a buffet on the weekends. We chose that. The foods was good. The person we had for drink service at the table was exceptional. Very attentive and bubbly and friendly. The only downfall was that the website shows the buffet at 26.95. It was actually $33.95 per person. That special pricing should have been on their website or mentioned when I called and spoke to them before booking through open table. It wasn't a big deal for the two of us but it could have been for a whole family."

  • "The service was great and the food was good. I could not see much of the races from my seat but the atmosphere was fun. I was disappointed that the charge for the buffet was $8.00 per person higher than stated on line when I booked the reservation. The restaurant did not have our reservation in their schedule when we got there because the reservation was booked for 9:00pm and the restaurant was listed as closing at 9:00pm. They did accommodate us when we arrived early and gave us a table right away. I recommend that their website be updated so other people are not given false reservations and charged more than quoted."

  • "Neither my husband nor I are gamblers, but we went with friends and had a blast! Food was excellent; service was the same! Watching the horses run and making small bets was fun and different. It made dinner a really great group adventure. We would return again!"

  • "The process of online reservation was easy and we were pleased with the table and view, table in front of us were extremly verbal and obiviuosly had been there numerous times. Very disturbing!!!!!!!!! can't be helped but they should have been seated in a corner,LOUD.... Food was fair, nothing spectacular, prime rib was fatty no flavor, pieces that were cut were thin,I preferrer my prime rib cut thicker. It was just OK"

  • "We have been here many times before & never disappointed. This time we had the buffet & shrimp cocktail from the regular menu. Shrimp were jumbo size and so good. Buffet had a nice selection, not as hot as I'd like it, but very good. Salad bar is great. Our waiter was on the ball, catering to us like we were all he had to worry about. We watched him tend to his other tables the same way. Overlooking the racetrack, we watched the races while we ate a leisurely dinner at our pace, not the restaurants. Betting stations at both ends of the dining area, made it easy to get your bets placed. The only problem we had was getting too excited when our horse did run well and we wanted that to happen often. I would recommend this to anyone."

  • "My wife and I selected this restaurant, and requested window seating, because neither of us had seen a live horse race. Upon arrival, we were led to a window table but it was then discovered that no window tables were available so we were led to a table that was 4 tables removed from the windows with a so-so view. So the evening got off to a less than desirable start. Not being a fan of buffets, we both ordered from the menu. The choice of sides left much to be desired. The service was very slow and by the time our food arrived my potatoes were barely warm. My wife ate less than half of her broiled seafood platter and it wasn't due to lack of appetite. I give the food two stars only because the crab cakes were at least decent."

  • "Skyline terrace offers a most pleasant change of pace in that it overlooks the Charles Town thoroughbred race track. The atmosphere is congenial and convenient for betting. The food delicious and the service faultless. One has a total view of the track and paddock. We have been to Skyview several times and never had a negative experience. We hope to return in the future."

  • "Went with some friends to celebrate our anniversary and enjoy the buffet and watch the ponies. Didn't realize it was Kentucky Derby weekend, it was very crowded, my fault. The food seems to have gone downhill a little. The crab legs were cold and very difficult to pick, wound up wasting most of them. The side items were just "ok", nothing to write home about. The prime rib was very good and done very well. Did I mention it was very crowded....had to wait in the buffet line for quite a while. The ambient temperature in the place was very warm, probably due to the amount of people but I feel that should been taken into account."

  • "My boyfriend and I picked this restaurant because the menu had delicious sounding dishes and we wanted something upscale and intimate for our anniversary. Upon being seated we learned we came the night of a big horse race so the only dining option was buffet, something neither of us wanted and feel like the website should've informed us of. The food on the buffet was mediocre at best and the line you had to stand in was so ridiculously long. If it weren't for us having fun betting on the horse races while dining and our friendly diners seated across from us, we'd never give this place a second chance. The restaurant itself is beautiful and probably not too crowded on normal nights and the TVs to watch the horses at each table is great. "

  • "I was a disappointed with dinner. The entrees were not good (prime rib was raw and heavily seasoned, fried shrimp was old and tough, pot roast was over seasoned). I saw some cost saving measures (meat balls, catfish bites for clams, no crab). Salad items appeared fresh and the desserts were attractive and tasty. The wait staff were incredibly busy and did not have time to be attentive. They were very nice, however. The betting counters for the horse races viewed while dining had long lines adding to the frustration of the occasion. I finally quit placing bets. I am hoping that the pretty weather and the Kentucky Derby caused the restaurant to be unexpectedly busier than normal and they will adjust quickly."

  • "Every thing was nice, espically the food and the service. However; the lines for betting we're totally unacceptable. Both sides of the terrace have 3 betting lines with 3 operators on each side and one machine that's self betting. Either fix your machines so lines are not so long or have less people there"

  • "It was a wonderful evening to spend with my husband, and his parents to eat dinner and to watch the horses and play at the casino. The waitress and chef were exceptional service especially for myself having a black pepper allergy and the chef making me a special dish to eat because I couldn't eat a lot of the buffet food. The food was excellent and we loved having the table to ourselves for the evening."

  • "This was our second time at this restaurant (we went on a Saturday night) and I truly enjoyed it as much as the first. The staff is very pleasant and there is a variety of food on the buffet. The best part is, your table is yours for the entire evening, so make sure to make a reservation! We really enjoy watching the horse races and betting on them from the comfort of our seats."

  • "I have been going here for 37 years, and in that time some things have changed a lot. 37 years ago there was no simulcasting, and no casino. There was no buffet, just a menu. But in all that time some things have stayed the same: good food with great service. Combine that with the best view of the track and you've got a winning ticket."

  • "My family and I came to celebrate a 60th birthday and spend a day at the races. The buffet was priced higher than normal because it was a special race day, but worth every penny. The food was fresh, well prepared and constantly being refilled. The desserts were hazardous to anyone trying to watch their diets. Our wait staff made sure our glasses were always filled and removed empty dishes from the table in a matter of minutes. Very clean even with a sold out crowd. WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT! "

  • "I had made a reservation far in advance; I requested a table overlooking the track. We were on time but were seated high up in the restaurant at a back table with no view. The buffet food was lukewarm, and unimaginative. The bright spot was our waiter: very pleasant, there when we needed him. The fact that you can have a table for the evening is also a plus. We had dinner, walked to the casino and the track, came back for dessert and coffee. "
