  • "We visit about 6 times a year. This visit was very poor. Our soup was runny and barely warm, our waitress service was really lacking. She was very non attetentive. We had a group of 8. We were very dissapointed. In the past our service has always been wonderful. Very dissapointed. This time."

  • "For the price the food didn't stack up. Many items previously available werenot there this time."

  • "This restaurant is away from the noisy casino and over looks the Charles Town thoroughbred race track. Very beautiful setting overlooking the racetrack with the mountains in the background. We were warmly greeted and then immediately seated. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. Our meal was awesome. We got the Wednesday night special: filet mignon with crab legs. It was served hot and both were delicious. We had a wonderful evening and would highly recommend the Skyline Terrace."

  • "The Saturday night brunch was priced reasonably well at 26.95; although the food was only fair. Service was friendly and attentive and the ability to watch the horce racing and bet in the restaurant was fun. Perhaps the food off the menu would be better."

  • "Good food, good friends makes for a great time. Service was excellant all around."

  • "This is a very cool place to go. The roast beef was delicious (they had rare) as was the shrimp and the dessert. The salad bar was weak and the temperature was too warm. I'm not sure if the a/c was broken but it was noticeably warm. The betting is conveniently located in the dining room. It has a fantastic view of the track, the server was attentive and friendly. All in all a very good experience. Too bad about the air conditioning problem."

  • "Reservations are required. The view of the race track and the on table monitors are a fun way to pass the time. The buffet line was chaotic, with the expected traffic flow not clearly marked. There was a wide selection of salads, sides, and desserts, but the quality was hit and miss depending upon your selection. The service was great, and we were surprised by the 50% price cut for our 11 year old. We probably will return for a casual night out."

  • "Enjoyed the buffet, especially roast beef, spare ribs and custard machine. Liked the okra, vut need more fresh veg. And plain mac and cheese for the young ones. Our table was located perfectly and the service superior."

  • "Food was average at best and (as a buffet) many items were missing. Invited another couple to join us for dinner and now sorry I did. Been here before and it was much better. This time out .... not so good."

  • "Super waitress. Everyone was lovely to us. Highly recommend. Food was good. Did not eat off buffet but it looked great."

  • "Nothing more exciting than post time at CTR - the prime rib dinner buffet on Friday/Saturday night is outstanding. Great view of the start/finish line - Pluses - You keep your table all night - no rush to leave, betting window(s) inside the restaurant, great views, TV at every table to up close look at the action, great staff, great food, attached to casino as well. Minus - picking the right horse is up to you... Great dinning and with the start of every race the place explodes with energy! Highly recommend for celebrating or just a night of fun..."

  • "I have been coming to the races for over 40 years, smallest crowd ever and after the salad bar, the food went down hill. Prime rib was tough, no more crepe station."

  • "Charles Town races was a nice way to spend an evening with grandchildren!"

  • "The food at the buffet is excellent. Always fresh, well prepared, tasty with good variety. From salad, to meats and veggies, through desserts, there are plenty of options and everything was good. The track setting can be great for a group, or a more intimate setting. Noise was well controlled and unobtrusive."

  • "Family outing to dinner and the race track just for a change. There were many food choices and everyone found something to eat but I thought it was overpriced for the quality. The kids enjoyed being able to eat and watch the races. They also enjoyed going outside and watching the races up close. We all had a good time and I would recommend for something different to do and see than the normal restaurant."

  • "A fun thing to do for a night out. The buffet had great choices seafood, beef, chinese, chicken, salads, and great desserts. Ceiling to floor windows that gave an inside out feeling and staduim style tables so everyone one had a great view of the track. We had the table for the night so you could come and go. Great place to get a group together."

  • "We had an absolutely great experience! The food and environment were fantastic! Had dinner before the Spinners concert and have since recommended the event center and restaurant to all of our friends! Thanks again - we will be back often!"

  • "Food was was plentiful! Great selection and everything tasted wonderful. Next time I would pace myself to last through the races. Need to have a salad course for the first race and wait until the third race for the main course and by the fifth race have dessert. Wine selection was great. Price was fair. Staff was pleasant and attentive. We were very pleased overall with the experience."

  • "Food was cold and overcooked. Service was slow and somewhat inattentive (no drink refills, no check backs to ensure food quality)"

  • "Skyline Terrace restaurant at Charles Town Races makes for a fun evening at the races. They offer both a buffet and ordering from a menu. We have always enjoyed the buffet with the many choices and fun dessert display. The food is nothing really special, but is filling and enjoyable. The only problem this time was they have changed from having a crepe bar to a soft ice cream machine. Sadly, there was so much desire for the ice cream that the machine was also running out -- this is something they need to correct."

  • "The Skyline Terrace is a wonderful place to spend a lively evening. Both the menu and the buffet (which we chose) offer a great variety of truly good food. The setting allows for live horse racing to provide entertainment of a different kind. The servers are well trained, friendly and offer excellent service. We have been here many times and will continue to return."

  • "I was pleasantly pleased with my recent stay on 19July2014. The buffet was very nicely laid out, and the food was delicious. I had been to the Skyline Terrace approx 2 years ago and this recent trip was a big improvement over that one. I will/would recommend the Skyline Terrace to anyone who wants a evening of good food, great service, and (hopefully) a profitable night at the races."

  • "Price is excessive for the quality. Prime rib was tasteless. Dessert cakes were stale. The racing was fun and entertaining. Won't be returning to the Skyline Terrace until improvements in quality are achieved."

  • "Prime Rib Seafood Buffet: prime rib excellent--seafood buffet was a joke. Advertised for months "crab, etc.). The only crab available was in macaroni. Peel and eat shrimp, a few mussels, some terrible white fish. Very poor choices. This buffet has gone down hill for the price."

  • "We waited 10 min or longer for waitress and that's only because we had to actually go and hunt her down . During our visit she forgot drinks both times and had to hint her down again to pay bill . Seating was good and races was good and food was good . Waitress was worse I ever had ."

  • "Most recently my best friend and myself celebrated a birthday at Skyline. What a perfect dining experience. The buffet was endless, the food was superb and the service the best! Kudos to Charlestown Skyline for making a perfect evening for us!"

  • "I loved everything about the Skyline Terrace. We ordered the buffet and all of the food on it was excellent! Service was impeccible and the atmosphere was very nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone."

  • "It ordered from the menu as we had always ordered the buffet. We were very disappointed in the quality, presentation and taste of our meal. I ordered the salmon caesar which was drenched in dressing, serving portion was huge and inedible. The salmon was cooked medium rare (ordered that way) and was the only thing eaten on the plate. My guest's french dip plate arrived and was such a mess that the server (who was very attentive) decided on her own that she had to take it back and get another plate. The meat was loaded with gristle, the jus was too salty and had the equivalent of two large potatoes deep fried. The kitchen has lost it's way and needs better direction. It seems what the lack in quality now they make up for in quantity."

  • "The view of the racetrack was wonderful. We enjoyed the seafood platter from the menu. Only complaint was that we were not told there was a cost for racetrack programs until the bill came. Had a wonderful evening defiantly will come back."

  • "We recently celebrated my birthday at Skyline Terrace. Service was excellent for our group of 12, food was delicious. Watching the races from the dining room made it feel like a special event, they even named a race in my honor and I was able to present the owner of the winning horse with a trophy. The buffet is extensive and reasonably priced but you can also order off of the menu. We had 2 children with us and they were graciously welcomed by the staff. The Casino is large with a non-smoking section, no one under 21 is allowed. My favorite horse did not win nor did I make my fortune at the Casino but it was such a nice evening we have already made plans to return."

  • "We got a lovely birthday platter, the food was good. The only complaint I would note is that the Terrace is not a great place to go if you notice it's busy - our ticket took an hour to come to our table. The noise level was fine, until the races really got started. Some of the groups there were very noisy. It's a great choice if you don't mind noise. On a quiet day, it's a perfect date place."

  • "The food was prepared tastefully, but was not hot when served. the ice cream sat too long on the bread pudding before being served and has begun to melt. Heated food needs to be served promptly while piping hot. Ice cream on bread pudding needs to be served immediately once the ice cream is on the pudding. More attention to refilling water glasses."

  • "We wanted a different way to spend an evening and this certainly provided that. Our server, Stella, did a wonderful job. Our entrees were very good (salmon for the other three and seafood platter for me). My sides of steak fries and mushrooms were poor - I could not finish them. It was very exciting to be able to watch the races while dining, an experience we want to repeat. The only other problem was that half the betting stations were manned, so several people were cut out and we're unable to place their bets. A good night out that we will repeat."

  • "We went to the Charles Town races Sat. Prime rib and sea food buffet on 6/28/14 This is advertised as a prime rib and sea food buffet. The sea food selection was minimal. There was one fish selection, butterfly shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, and mussels. For a $28.00 buffet claiming to be a sea food buffet this was very disappointing. Golden corral offers more selections same quality for $10.00 We have been going to the Sunday brunch at Charles Town for years and it offered more sea food selections than the so called Friday and Saturday sea food buffet did. The service was great. We left after the 3rd race because we were so disappointed. Call it what it is a buffet, just don't advertise is as a sea food buffet."

  • "If you enjoy horse races and eating this is a fun place. We had the buffet for $26.95. There was a large selection of food to include prime rib, fish, and shrimp. More desserts than anyone would ever need. The food was ok."
