Sixth Engine RestaurantInteresting restaurantThis is an interesting restaurant with its location in a historic DC firehouse. The menu is not extensive but the food is delicious. None of us had ever been there but I will certainly be going back. The food was delicious and drinks strong. My mother is an eggs Benedict connoisseur who orders them whenever and wherever we go to breakfast, and said these were probably the best she has ever had. No complaints. However, if you visit them at say 2 p.m. on a Saturday and don't want to re-eat breakfast, the options are really limited.

The service was truly excellent. We were inside on the second floor which is very cavernous but not echo-y so you don't have to hear the neighboring conversations. The music level was appropriate and not too loud. The pre-meal, chips are like kettle cooked Munchos and we all thought they were great. Had burgers and pork tenderloin which were both very good. They tend to cook the burgers a little lighter than usual so medium well is closer to medium but it was fine. Probably one of the better burgers I've had in DC (best in the area is Alewife in Balto). We were lucky to score a table on the patio and enjoyed the pork and filet main courses. Both delicious and well seasoned. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
