We had the Prix Fixe dinnerWe had the Prix Fixe dinner and it was awesome. Every course was eagerly anticipated and exceeded our expectations. Service was very attentive. The view is spectacular. It was the best dining experience we've ever had.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest In ChicagoVery high end restaurant for those special occasions. Loved the view, the food and the service. Choked when I got the bill.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection as alwaysGreat experience from the moment we arrived until we reluctantly departed. Jeffrey is an excellent server and always adds to our experience. So pleased he was working that day. The food was amazing and they never hit a poor note. Never. We look forward to returning for another delicous brunch in the near future.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating our firstWe were celebrating our first anniversary and Sixteen fit the bill! It was excellent, not inexpensive, but this I knew before making the reservation. It is truly a dining experieince. Do not talk yourselves in to ordering ala carte or a small course. I would suggest planning for an early arrival or leaving enough time after dinner for a drink on The Terrrace. The views are spectacular.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThanks to Chef and staff forThanks to Chef and staff for a memorable anniversary dinner. We've had this level of service only at Simpson's in the Strand in London, so you've earned your chops. 3 small notes for next time:
I tasted sand grains in one of my intro items. Be sure your servers handle fragile constructions appropriately every time.
If your menu is based on 3 concepts, tell diners what the meals will contain beforehand. Apparently, this was skipped at our table, and we ended up guessing which course to order.
At the price point you're offering, the cheese course should not be optional. I've never been "upsold" DURING the dinner at any other establishment.
The overall experience was top-notch, and we're looking forward to returning to try another menu.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing view and amazing foodOur dinner at Sixteen was a unique experience that was worth the expensive bill. The view is breathtaking and the ability to walk out to the Terrace Bar and look around adds to the fun. The food was exceptional! We did the wine pairing with the eight course prix fix dinner and it was a truly unforgettable experience. We have done them before at other restaurants and usually are disappointed but this one lived up to its name. The wines were ones we would never have tried and actually didn't like when sipped on their own but the pairing with the food was delicious.
We can't wait to return on our next special occasion!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMShowmanship, precision and splendorThe quality and extent of table side service at Sixteen is unparalleled in Chicago. Regardless of which of the three tasting menus you choose: pasture (veal), stream (freshwater fish), or field (foraged greens), you will be wowed by several courses plated and finished by the waiters right at your table. This requires an intense level of training and knowledge by the front of house staff that impressed me. The food was pretty great too. In the pasture menu, which had several veal courses, the sweetbreads course with almonds, cherries and asparagus was my standout favorite of the savories. Desserts were stellar too, from the criollo chocolate and ice milk to the olive oil cake and clover granite dessert from the spring menu.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSixteen StarsI do not live in Chicago but when I come here, I make Sixteen a must. Last time, I was here the Chef was gunning for his first Michelin Star. Now after being Michelin-starred, I must say the menu is completely different and absolutely worthy of the Michelin Star. My two friends and I tried the 12 course tasting menu with pairings because we could not make up our minds whether we liked The Stream (food from within and around water), The Field (again, in and on the field) and The Pasture (things in, beside and on the pasturelands). And what a denouement of exquisite food with beautiful pairings with wines mainly from small vineyards. The service has also been kicked up a notch to well-appointed and consistent. I'll certainly be back.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was excellent! Our waiter was excellent! And the food phenomenal.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet food in a wonderful place! In a fantastic location (16th floor at the Trump Hotel) that make you feel what special the site is, your experience begin just after to leave the elevator. View is spectacular! No way to be without booking previously a table, as the place is not huge. Service is outstanding. Wine list is so "impressive" as there are bottles of more than two thousand dollars! Menu consists in gourmet options, but the best idea might be to choose the four courses menu (although it is another of eight), so you can enjoy several flavors. No doubt you will be fascinated by seen and taste every dish served! It is not as expensive as might be, lets say is "costly" but fear for what is offered. If you want to get something to remember from Chicago, go to Sixteen!!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place has an outstandingThis place has an outstanding setting, ask for a table by the window to see the Chicago river and the skyline.
I believe the best deal is to go directly to the terrace, especially during the summer
Service is outstanding.
Food is good, very nice, artful presentation
The price is very high, expensive outing, hence I recommend Sixteen for a very special occasion, or if someone else is paying the bill.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to expectations16 is located in Trump Hotel. Like all things Trump, it is pricey and is sometimes better known for the hype than the execution. However 16 was an excellent experience. Innovative and tasty menu, impeccable service, and beautiful view. We'll go back when we have an opportunity.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery differentI was not aware of how the menu worked before I made the reservation. It was very interesting to say the least. The food was excellent but I was always looking for more. I guess because it was so good!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible ambiance, viewsIncredible ambiance, views and decor. Food was excellent, creative, but a little minimalist....you can leave hungry after 8 courses. Diners choose themes for the set of courses: stream, prarie, and pasture. These seemed vague to me, but there was a sampling to help make the decision. However the sample did not reflect many of the courses. We did the wine pairings, but with our "prairie" selection there was no red wine for any course. There were generous pours for the wines which perhaps made up for the lack of food. The service was outstanding, but a little "Trumpy" (overeager to please). This was a fun and creative experience, but would advise that people who are hungry and want to know what they are eating try somewhere else.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW. Window seating with aWOW. Window seating with a great view. Chose Stream 8-course with wine. Nothing but superb food and stimulating pairings (all but one wine were off the beaten track wines, so I learned a lot). Creative dishes that are a feast to eat and admire. Service was courteous and friendly and very well paced - don't go unless you're there to be emersed in a couple of hours of enjoyment.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery creative presentationVery creative presentation of the Degustation menu.....the servers and staff were top notch.....fun, not stuffy, not boring, and not in your face all of the time....they were perfect.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experienceWithout exaggeration, Sixteen was a singularly fascinating, exciting and, of course, delicious gastronomical experience. A journey of flavors - each bite just crazy good.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great dining experienceAlways a great dining experience. Great food, service and ambience!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a delightful time celebratinWe had a delightful time celebrating our 36th anniversary. The staff was friendly, informative, and professional.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA very pleasant lunch. FoodA very pleasant lunch. Food was interesting and the presentation was lovely.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good Sunday Brunch. This review is for Sunday Brunch. It is a wonderful array of well prepared food in a great setting. It is not cheap, but it is very good. Sushi, desserts, breakfast foods, hot entrees. My only advice is: pace yourself.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSixteen delivers all aroundSixteen delivered an outstanding experience from all perspectives. It's creative and surprising tasting menu was delightful and rich in flavor. The view of the Wrigley building is stunning. The lighting and chandelier create a romantic yet accessible atmosphere for even a family. They offer a kids menu, which was fantastic so we could include my younger daughter in the celebration. The staff is knowledgable, yet friendly and down to earth. The spring menu (meat version) is fantastic, with wonderful dishes using veal and a variety of spring vegetables. These veggies are not your mother's canned green beens. They are fresh and unexpected in flavor and consistency. The presentation is gorgeous and innovative.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined at Sixteen for ourWe dined at Sixteen for our anniversary. The meal (the twelve-course extended menu) was very good, but not quite up to Alinea standards (which I would expect for $210 a person!). I also was disappointed that the restaurant did not acknowledge our anniversary, even though they were told in advance that was why we were dining there.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the top brunch spotsOne of the top brunch spots in Chicago...a must go!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat culinary experienceMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 8-course spring "field" menu with wine pairings. We had a great view, impeccable service and wonderful flavors to savor throughout the night. My wife "normally" drinks only red wine, but the "field" menu (one of three that you can choose from) has been paired exclusively with white wines. Both she and I were thoroughly impressed with the excellent wines that were chosen, from France to Italy, to Germany to Austria; we loved them all!
The 8-course meal itself has many different combinations of fresh flavors that continuously amazed us.
Every one of the 8 courses had unique "presentations" that clearly takes a lot of thought and care.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA world class restaurant.A world class restaurant. The food is as pleasing to the eye as to the palate. No wonder the chef has won international praise. Also, one may view Chicago landmarks in a way no other venue can offer. We look forward to returning-very proud to have Sixteen in Chicago.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI entertained a group of outI entertained a group of out of town surgeons and it was a terrific night. I have eaten there before but this was the best meal I have had.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best eating experiencesOne of the best eating experiences I have had in my life. Be prepared to sample dishes of various temperatures, textures and surprises. I enjoyed the playfulness of the desserts including pop rocks, cookies and cream, and custom chocolates.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeds expectations...We had not been to Sixteen for a year and it was excellent on our last visit. This visit was Outstanding. We had the eight course fixed price menu and all the members of our party could do nothing but rave how good everything was. We picked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and Sixteen made it a memorable occasion. The Service Staff makes the experience and environment very inviting and comfortable. We were told the menu is changing soon with the season. I cannot wait to return.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Dining Experience! My wife and I ordered the eight course menu last night and added the cheese course. We are frequent fine diners and this was one of our best meals in the past couple of years. Every course was great with four really being memorable and having a "wow" factor. Service was nearly flawless; Sixteen is a venue where they have the perfect blend of highly polished yet extremely personable servers. With all the extras (trilogy of amuse bouches, ample bread service, a palate cleanser and an impressive mignardises cart) this was a true feast. Chef Lents and the team at Sixteen are now starting to fire on all cylinders and at this point I feel are deserving of an additional Michelin star. I am already eagerly anticipating the spring menu!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated a special occasionCelebrated a special occasion with my wife at Sixteen. Could not have asked for a better place to treat her to a special evening. Thank you Sixteen and the staff that provided top notch service!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous restaurant with incredibleGorgeous restaurant with incredible views. Service was perfect and fun. This is a tasting menu only with no options so is a bit restrictive. Wine pairings were expensive and, frankly, not worth it. The additional price cheese course had less than an ounce of cheese. Okay to do once--but that's it.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMit was a wonderful birthdayit was a wonderful birthday lunch for our daughter. they even gave her a special ice cream desert with her name in icing3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 8 course "story".We had the 8 course "story". Each course was vibrant with new/different tastes each time. The waiter was quite informative and knew his stuff.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBe prepared to pay. With these prices and the Trump label my expectations were quite high, higher than the experience actually turned out to be. Menu variety at lunch is quite limited and portion size very modest. That said, it is an exquisite, if overpriced, experience.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome service and excellentawesome service and excellent food. Very fancy. Would definetly come back:)3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in ChicagoWow, the tasting menu I had at Sixteen is easily the best meal I've had all year so far. I think Sixteen is the best restaurant in Chicago right now. I had the 8-course tasting with a caviar and cheese supplement. Every course was outstanding, but what was most memorable was how Chef Lents wove a story of a winter's day through food. I also enjoyed how spoiled guests are with extras, from several canapes (glazed and roasted chestnuts, mince meat pie, apple cider) to start the meal, to the best mignardise cart in town. And when you are stuffed and on your way out, you are treated to a take-home pastry. The view across the Chicago River is unrivaled and service was impeccable as well.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliant New Year's Eve MenuWe went to the early New Year's Eve seating at Sixteen and it was a great way to end the dining year. The menu was brilliantly planned, executed and presented. Service was impeccable. If you are a fan of fine dining, Sixteen must be on your list of Chicago restaurants.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMFab food but check the wine pairingFabulous food, every dish a delight. Wine pairing very disappointing. We stopped it half way through and ordered a bottle of our choice. Strongly recommend asking what the wine pairings will be before ordering. The have a good wine list so plenty to choose from if you don't do the pairing- this is what I would recommend. We will go back for sure, every plate was delicious. Beautiful presentation and perfect blend of flavours. The menu wording is a little elaborate- things like "frost on a misty morning" (that may not be exactly correct but you get the idea), leaves you wondering what the dish will be and in my opinion is unnecessarily elaborate but the dishes don't disappoint.12/30/2012 12:00:00 AM
