  • Surprisingly Disappointed
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 10/23/2012
I had high expectations because of all of the praise that Six89 has received, but I was sadly disappointed. My pork shoulder was under-seasoned, and my small plates were also pretty bland. Our waitress was kind of slow or distracted. The atmosphere was boring. I'll go back to give Six89 a second chance. I hope this was a fluke. Also, side note, I really love The Pullman, so I was shocked to be dissatisfied with Six89.

  • Incredible food/Inattentive staff
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 10/2/2012
The restaurant is closing at the end of the month, so we wanted to be sure to go one last time. As usual the food is eclectic and wonderful. One person in our party ordered the Lamb...and it was dry and tasted like roast beef. We sent it back and ordered the salmon instead. The food was incredible. The service was so-so. The waiter was inattentive to our needs. We arrived early at 5:30. I had to ask for water refills constantly as this was not on the waiter's radar. He just did not notice the empty water glasses. We ordered dessert. We also ordered coffee to have with our dessert. The coffee arrived about 10 minutes after we finished dessert. The wait staff is just not up to par. They are lacking the attentiveness of fine dining

Sorry that 689 is closing. We went for our final dinner there - everything was as great as it always is. We entertained guests who had never been and ordered the random acts so we could experience as much as possible at our last visit. Our waiter was charming and very knowledgeable about the menu. The wine pairings were outstanding as well.

It was our 3rd anniversary and I wanted to take my husband somewhere quiet and with good food. We were set in the middle of a croweded and loud room. The first drink I tried to order off the menu they had discontinued (THEN TAKE IT OFF OF THE LIST) and when I asked to be moved to a quieter table (so that I could hear my husband less than a foot from me) they said "Gee, we're kind of full" I saw three tables that we could have moved to. Translation "We don't feel like going to the effort" If the food wasn't so great I'd be pretty frustrated.

Delicious and unique, we traveled 60 miles to hit this restaurant while in Colorado and weren't disappointed. Entrees range from $14-$27 - you can't beat that for gourmet food. Their dishes were unique and delicious - what I would have expected from a much more expensive restaurant. I will go back again!

Six89 must be the best restaurant in the central Colorado mountains, and among the very best along the long Rocky Mountain chain. Course after course is delicious, prepared with care using fresh ingredients, and each beautifully presented. The selections are imaginative and balanced. The wait staff is prompt, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. All this in an attractive, unpretentious dining room and outside patio. Six89 is reason to go to Carbondale, Colorado, one of the best kept secrets in the west.

Service was sub par.it took FOREVER to get both rounds of drinks, we would have had at least 3 but the wait was ridiculous! We ordered our main courses and a round of drinks at the same time after our apps and guess what? The drinks came well after the mains.I could tell the waiter was stressed about it yet he never offered an apology or let us know he was working on getting them to us.aside from the bartender being way too slow or needing help the food was excellent as always:)

People, people, people, if you are in the area and don't try Six89 you will have missed an incredible dining experience. Four of us ate there last night on the patio and had a stellar experience. We did the reasonably priced prix fixe and had only one dish (Peaches and Bacon Cobbler-too dry) that wasn't superb. We focused on dishes with peaches as the exquisite Palisade peaches are ripe. We had peaches with two creations of Berkshire pork-chop and braised. It was so beautiful I took photos and so delicious it ranks as one of the best meals I've had and one of the most memorable patio dining experiences ever--I will dine on the memory when the snow flies. The sommelier recommended a good and reasonably priced white. This is one of the best.

I went in with high expectations despite reading one review on Yelp! that commented on the not so great wait staff and "sommelier". Well, unfortunately, we experienced the same issues. The staff seemed to be running a bit behind, or at least not in concert. consequently I felt that we were not given our server's full attention when she was with us and our food was brought out not exactly hot. Additionally, the sommelier, who did come up with a nice bottle of wine, was pretty flip and really did not offer any back ground to some of the wines other than "they are good friends". Overall, I think what could have been exceptional was simply okay. Everyone seemed to be coasting on the reputation of the place.

Seated at table close to kitchen, instead of near front window with view of outside street and other diners outside. Other inside tables were Empty, so it would have been no problem. Table for six was too big for comfortable atmosphere. Room was dim. Service was extremely slow and intermittent, although we were the only table inside.. Food was okay, but menu was too "cute", with little That stood out as interesting to anyone. No one in party could find anything that was especially interesting or appealing. As hostess, I had to find the waiter in the kitchen to get the bill. Found him washing dishes and chatting. We were waiting to order dessert and did not bother. Expensive and disappointing. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated near a doorway which required us to move the table into the room so the chair did not stick into the walkway. We ordered the prix fixe dinner and I asked our server to have the chef pick something (the exec chef was out). What I received was semi fried chicken with a ketsup and hot sauce glaze. The side was sweet potato fries, which were burnt black and limp like they were from the day before. Needless to say the meal was picked at but not eaten. My companion had the Halibut and it was much better. My dinner partner insisted on notifying the management and the meal was removed from our bill. Dessert was the sorbet and it was very good and the highlight of the meal.
