Six One Six - JW Marriott Hotel Grand RapidsAnniversary DinnerOverall dinner was good. Tried Chefs soup which was a Parmesan. That was actually placed together well and was seasoned great. When the entrees came out my wife had the salmon and I tried the veal chop. The salmon was plated nicely but could of used a little more color to it. The greens on the plate were quite dull. The salmon itself was great for the price. The veal chop was a great dish as well. The plating was great but I was disappointed to find an overwhelming amount of fat on the veal chop, more than usual. I struggled to find the meat which was a total disappointment for the price as the other items on the plate didnt make up the value. Overall great restaurant for dinner but it isn't outstanding by any means, food wise.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA very pleasant experienceA very pleasant experience in every way. The facility is grand, but still comfortable. The service, beginning at the front door, is very pleasant and extremely competent. Our wait staff was very attentive, and unusually helpful.
The menu is creative and very innovative. Soup, salad, entree and dessert were all excellent, and beautifully served. I miss some of the entries from the previous seasonal menu, but I will wait for them to return in the fall. Of particular note is the mint/chocolate ice cream. Absolutely wonderful. I couldn't make it better myself.
Dining with you is a regular and genuine pleasure. I recommend 616 without hesitation. A wonderful addition to the Grand Rapids dining experience. We has the halibut and the rack of lamb for entres. Salmon chowder and kale salad to begin. All were terrific. Had a Kamen 2008 Cabernet from their pretty good wine list. Restaurant is a bit pricey ($7 for a mimosa), but the service is great. I would recommend for a special occasion -- we visited for Mother's Day, since my parents were in town. Our service was perfect and our server was great and attentive. The wine list had some local wines from Michigan which i really appreciate. Our waiter suggested some great food from the menu. The service and food were outstanding! I was a little surprised by how many kids were in there. I'm glad they allow kids, it's just not somewhere I'd bring mine to.
