  • Moncton's Best Kept Secret
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

Had lunch last week with 2 girlfriends. It was a most enjoyable experience. As a recent import from Vancouver, I was pleasantly surprised to find good food, great ambiance, a knowledgeable, sweet & friendly server, a decent wine list, great décor even in the washroom)all rolled into one location. This is a rare gem in Moncton. The only thing that dismayed me was that we were the only patrons in the restaurant for the entire 3 hours that we were there. I'm not sure why that would be as, in my estimation, this is one of the top restaurants in the entire province. I almost forgot that I was in the 'have-not' province! Thanks and I will definitely be back and will spread the word.

The only thing that did not work was my reservation through Open Table. I received a confirmation online but the staff at the restaurant had no reservation in my name. Thank you

They advertise a $10 lunch menu and delivery in 20 minutes. It took 20 minutes just to get a menu and then there were no $10 items although what we did have was worth the price charged ($14 lamb burger) and salad - yum!!). The food was good but the service was awful. Food almost good enough to get me back but not quite....service was just so slow. We had to go look for wait staff to take our order. They could do good things at Sirocco however if they continue to scrimp on good staff for waiting the tables they are doomed in this town.

  • Greek salad departs with tradition

The decor of this restaurant is impressive and inviting but I left my experience uninspired by the food. My dining companion had the Chef's Greek Mousaka which she liked quite a bit and was served in a ramekin with a side greek salad. We shared the Hummus Dip to start, and it on its own, was tasty but the pita bread served with it was dry and obviously store-bought. I had the Spanish Paella and enjoyed the Paella part of the dish quite a bit with the tomato saffron infused basmati rice. My issue rests with the house Greek salad which is served with a creamy (might I add way too creamy) vinaigrette. Call me a traditionalist, but Greek salad should be olive oil based and light with a freshness that was sorely lacking at this restaurant.

The food was excellen but service was a little slow. We were 5 couples and only one person was unhappy with her choice. She admitted tha her choice of Moussaka was not inspired as she could make one she liked better. In all our choices included a Morrocan strip loin with couscouse, lamp chops with couscous, seabream with rice, sirloin brochette, chicken brochette, cannelloni and everyone was very satisfied with the food. Because it was a wedding anniversary celebration for four of the five couples they brought each couple a dessert to share which was really a very nice touch. The wine list if you do not want a bottle is limited to two reds and two whites by the glass. We would all have liked to see one half litres and more choices.

The decor is beautiful, the service excellent and good presentation. The seafood casserole was good but not what I was expecting. The minestrone soup was delicious. Good choice of wine and the price is very good. Hope to go again soon.
