Siroc RestaurantFood was deliciousWe are on the patio and it was very nice. The food was simply delicious. We had the arugula salad and my pasta was fabulous. Wine list is good too.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to Siroc lastFirst visit to Siroc last night, for dinner w/ friends. Will definitely be back! Had a lovely dinner on the patio. Food was excellent. Really enjoyed the spicy lamb sausage and pasta w/ scallops - yum! Service was warm, friendly and attentive.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food/perfectly cooked pastaI will go back soon! Fab food!
I had arugula salad w/beets & black pepper tagliatelle w/sea scallops (love the option to order 1/2 portion of both salad & main meal) coupled w/glass of Chardonnay (Siema Vineyards). For dessert I had poached pear - fabulous end to a great lunch.
We ate outside - its great to have park across the street - a bit of greenery helps.
The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the service: she didn't make eye contact, was abrupt and it seemed she really didn't want to be there. My colleague was wondering where is that friendly Italian waiter/waitress who would fit so well in to serve this great food.
Overall, it was worth every penny. I will be going back and most likely ordering the same dishes ;-).5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best kept dining secret in DCSiroc is by far the best Italian cozy, casual dining experience in downtown DC. The chef constantly produces consistent, innovative food without killing the budget. The service has always been friendly as well as informative without bring overbearing. From start to finish I have always had good positive experiences at Siroc and look forward to many more.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNice outdoor area on McPherson squaWe ate outdoors on a quiet Friday evening. Not much traffic.
Good service. I had sweetbreads for appetizer and rockfish for main course, both very good.
My wife
Had the gnocchi which were good,
Took half home. Reasonably priced wines, good selection of Italian wines.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Flavor CombinationsMy wife and I both elected to eat multiple appetizers for dinner as they jumped off the menu to us. The stuffed squid with white beans was a delicate start. The sweetbreads were served with a tasty bread pudding with just the right touch of gorgonzola, not overtaking the dish, and the fried onion and veal sauce rounded out the best dish I had in my week in DC. My final app was the lamb sausage, set off by the olive sauce. Albeit a little salty, it again impressed with it's thought out combinations. The wine list is smallish but there's something for everyone. The by the by-the-glass Barolo is excellente. Kudos to the chef. A great place for a foodie's night out with that special someone.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive, homemade, fresh, enjoyedFriends from out of town wanted Italian for dinner before an evening stroll by the monuments and memorials, so Siroc it was. Staff was attentive throughout our early dinner (5:30), and the restaurant was quiet but not empty; we felt neither rushed nor ignored.
Their frisee and fennel salad is lovely - fresh and full of flavor, but not overpowering - and was enjoyed by our party of three. It's wonderful that you can order "half and half" of their pasta dishes, though none of us chose that option. Their butternut squash cappellacci is always delicious, and I love that their pasta is homemade.
While their hazelnut chocolate mousse is delicious, the gelato trio is refreshing and light - and manageable even after a full meal.
I'll be back!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, nice ambience and...Definitely priced right. We had a lovely dinner on Saturday evening. Read complaints about tables being close and room being noisy. Did not find either to be true.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Nice !I try to go there for birthday luncheons....retirement luncheons or just when I want a pleasant experience from the office and eating at my desk scene. The walk there is pleasant. I give it a thumbs up....the food seem to get better each year.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic foodSmall, classy spot in the heart of downtown. Excellent service and fantastic food.
The pasta dish with duck & mushrooms is the best I have had in a long time. A half order split in two makes a great appetizer or side dish. They will substitute gluten free spagetti for the regular noodle on any of the great pasta choices. Took that option and it was so good I wanted more but am glad I did not fill up on this because the entrees were equally good. The filet was melt in your mouth tender - far better than you get in most of the best steak restaurants and fairly priced. The veal saltimbocca was huge and incredibly tender. The wine list has plenty of choices that are fairly priced. The service was very professional - not snooty or pushy.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat quality and value inGreat quality and value in an area of DC that otherwise features overpriced restaurants or disappointing bar food. The staff are polite, warm, and attentive.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Noisy. "Energetic" isVery Noisy. "Energetic" is a euphemism. You have to shout to be heard. Otherwise an excellent restaurant.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the pasta was spotAs always, the pasta was spot on. My favorite in DC.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA great meal and service!!!We went here after looking up where to eat on yelp, and we were not disappointed! The stuffed squid were very good as an appetizer (includes 4 pieces). For dinner the lamb and eggplant was fantastic and filling. For dessert the pear with red wine sauce was delicious and unique! Finally, the Service was very attentive and accommodating! Enjoy : )4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorites!Excellent choice for a business dinner. Pasta was cooked to perfection (i.e., not limp), the salads were delicious and fresh; the coffee was hot, and the service was outstanding. I love this restaurant4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best pasta dinnersOne of the best pasta dinners of my life...and I have lived in Italy. Gorgeous delicious mussels and scallops in the pasta dishes. Vanilla vinaigrette on the salad shocked me by being a delicious accompaniment without being sweet. The service was outstanding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOne gets tired of writingOne gets tired of writing the same thing, visit after visit, but Siroc is one of those rare establishments that serves up the very best in every department every time -- never a disappointment. Owners are always present -- and that's the key.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA group of colleagues wentA group of colleagues went to Siroc for the first time and all were impressed with the food. We started with different salads. I had the pasta special with scallops, one colleague had squid and the others had fish. Everyone agreed that the food was excellent and the service outstanding. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding. Everything aboutOutstanding. Everything about the experience was first rate. So excited to go back again soon.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCouldn't have been happier. We were in DC for for a get-away weekend to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Really excellent and professional waitress service. The food was really very good. We had the mozzarella appetizer. I thought is was wonderful and unusual...a little sweet. Both our salads were fresh, tasty with light dressings. Both our entrees were really, really good. I had the gnocci, she had the bolognase. They weren't wet and overly sauced. Very nice. They also added nice touches like a small chef's taste before the meal and lemon cello at the end. They also provided us a nice desert, the almond cake, as an anniversary celebration. Ambiance is friendly and inviting but not quiet. More like a happy neighborhood place. Very reasonably priced.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. LikedGreat food and service. Liked that they will split pasta entrees, so if you can't make p your mind between two, you get some of each.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI was there each of the lastI was there each of the last three weeks. Great staff, great service, great food, reasonable prices.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMImaginative and Good Italian foodA busy spot with imaginative, well prepared Italian food. Better than your generic Italian but not really "the best Italian restaurant ever". I had a squid stuffed with scallop mousse that was quite good, and the waitress suggested half-orders of pasta to sample different ones, which was great. The Squid ink pasta was wonderful, pepper pasta with scallops less so. The only negatives were that desserts were somewhat generic, and only one of four dessert wines listed on the menu were available(the most expensive one, obviously). Overall, a solid dinner that was not too expensive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest pasta in DC.Hands down the best pasta restaurant in the DC area. Service is professional and well timed. Thank you for all the great meals. Love the amuse as well.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad dinner for the Furst timeHad dinner for the Furst time on Thursday. Food was wonderful. I had black pepper fettuccini with scallops. Contrast between the sweet scallops and the peppery noodles was delightful. Service was friendly and knowledgable and our table ready as promised. Will be back.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy diningroom away from home!Travel to DC on business often. Siroc is and should remain my go to spot for meals. Ossobuco and the pappardelle with smoked duck are my favorites lately. Excellent service on every visit. Please keep up the great work.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnderrated downtown gem -Underrated downtown gem - - VERY well-priced and carefully prepared plates. Only reservation for me is noise level which is quite a din when it's crowded. Definitely worth a visit!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed the food -Really enjoyed the food - loved the homemade pasta dishes!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service are alwaysThe food and service are always consistently good at Siroc. I have been there a number of times, and always enjoy it.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were bothFood and service were both excellet.. Pasta is fresh and worth having as a side if not main. Its abit loud in side-- lots of tables in a small space.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, as always. BroughtExcellent, as always. Brought a 'first-timer' who's one of the top cabinet officials in the Obama Administration, and it's clear that he'll be back, esp. for dinner with is S. O.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE BEST OF BESTthe only word for Siroc is consistently the same, FANTASTIC!!!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is by far the best sitThis is by far the best sit down lunch place around 15th and K. I ahve been here numerous times and love this place. The menu is extensive and excellent. There is a ton of choice. The service is always very fast and efficient. They also have a nice affordable wine selection.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting D.C. fromWe were visiting D.C. from out of town and came across this lovely restaurant, which was near our hotel. What a find! The food was fabulous, the menu creative and the service excellent. The restaurant also has a very nice ambiance. Service was attentive and a touch more authentic than most higher-end restaurants, which was greatly appreciated. If in doubt facing their extensive wine list, remember that it is hard to go wrong with an Italian "B": Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco...3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took out of town guestsWe took out of town guests here for dinner and we were extremely happy with the food and service. We were able to visit, enjoy a bottle of wine and experience good fresh food. All and All an outstanding experience. We will be back.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe homemade pasta is outstanding,The homemade pasta is outstanding, and the menu is varied with some very interesting and delicious selections. My only suggestion would be to include at least one or two "basic" or traditional italian dishes. While I enjoy the types of entrees listed on the menu, some people (including a couple in our party) had a difficult time because they prefer "red sauce italian" fare. Add a couple of plain dishes like a baked ziti or a chicken parm for those not into the classier (and very good) dishes on the menu.
Having said that, my personal opinion is that the restaurant is Outstanding and I would definitely recommend it to others.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMbest dining experience in the DistrSiroc continues to be the best dining experience in the District. Small, NY style restaurant, easy prices (not cheap but good value)best pasta in town (most under $20) good wine list, professional but fun wait staff.
I went off menu and had the Black Bass- it was a good as anything you could get at the best seafood restaurants in town.
No bar- make a reservation- they will honor it. They front area was crowded but we were seated right on time.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally a restaurant thatFinally a restaurant that is appropriately priced, not a huge factory and downtown with fantastic food and a lovely setting. Siroc is a gem in a sea of corporate mediocrity. A must try!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSiroc is my favorite DC restaurant.Siroc is my favorite DC restaurant. At the same price as far less fine restaurants, you can have a fantastic meal. Always a treat to eat here.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Excellent Dining ExperienceWe went here with our three children (ages 15, 13 and 10) while on vacation in DC. Siroc was definitely our favourite restaurant of our trip, and we hit quite a few of the 'hot spots'. Food was delicious. Service was attentive. They happily accommodated a special request.
Would highly recommend.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful place toWhat a wonderful place to eat! The staff was very friendly, warm, smiling, they made you feel right at home.
