A word from Siroc Restaurant
Chef Martin Lackovic, formerly of Galileo, I Matti and The Caucus Room, opens Siroc Restaurant on McPherson Square with brothers Keram and Mehdi Dris, who run the front of the house. Siroc's seasonal menu features cooking inspired by Italy and the Mediterranean with housemade pastas, charcuterie, salads and entrées. The new restaurant takes its name from a wind that blows from northern Africa to Italy and the Mediterranean.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Nothing better than lunch outside at Siroc on a beautiful Spring day -- great people-watching, great food, great service, and a great 'place to be seen.' "

  • "What I didn't read about in other reviews is how lovely the fresh made pasta dishes are at Siroc. Such thin, delicate sheets made up the butternut squash ravioli, and the two other pasta dishes at our table were also fantastic. I think it's been some time since I've had pasta this good. They were happy to split a bolognese for our girls, who are on the older end of little kids now and we were there early, otherwise it may be a bit too small and romantic for kids really. If I am a having pasta, I am going back to Siroc."

  • "Centrally located, Siroc was a pleasurable dining experience. VERY attentive staff (but not overly so), interesting menu, good pacing. Two of the main courses (a pasta and a fish) were a bit salty but that was the only downside to several starters, 4 main courses, and 2 desserts. The place was busy but controlled and the servers never seemed harried. We will, for sure, return."

  • "We chose Siroc for our anniversary dinner. Service was superb. Food was mostly excellent with the exception of unedible, tough stalks on the asparagus. Tables are very close together so you will probably be sharing conversations as you eat."

  • "Great service, good pastas, small, intimate, good prices."

  • "This place never fails. It is a neighborhood gem, and I love going back there. Their fish is outstanding, AND so beautifully presented every time. It is such a great place, and the service is equally as excellent. Go!"

  • "good food, quiet enough to be able to hear everyone at the table, expert service."

  • "Our server went out of her way to listen to my special request for a low fat high carb and high protein meal in preparation for the Cherry blossom 10 miler. They made a meal specifically for me and it was delicious!"

  • "Siroc is a solid go-to for any special occasion. We booked a table for seven on Saturday night for a friend's birthday. Siroc created a special four course tasting menu for with three options for each course. The food did not disappoint. Most started with the scallop over black lentils, and it was amazing, as was the burrata. The homemade pasta was light and delicious, and the standout entrees were the Branzino and the Beef Tenderloin. The birthday boy has the Almond cake for dessert, and it was delicious. The rest of us had the warm chocolate tart or the trio of house made gelato, and we were not let down. The service was warm, and not intrusive. The wine list has great and reasonable options. Overall, a great experience."

  • "The experience was wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were treated wonderfully. Great food, nice people, just superb. Don't pass thia up for one of the trendier restaurants. The pasta and chocolate tart are stars. The filet was ordered medium and came med-well to very well done around the edge.....but my daughter loved it and the flavor of the meat was great. I hope your experience is as good as mine. I will go back the next time i'm in DC."

  • "We booked a reservation based on feedback from other patrons. They were spot on. The atmosphere was nice, intimate, the service very accomodating. We very much enjoyed our food and this place made our time in DC that much more special."

  • "Very nice place to enjoy a great meal in very relaxing atmosphere. Staff was attentive but not annoying. Our meals exceeded expectation. Very nice wine selection."

  • "Nthing to complain about. Everything from the wine, meal and service and so reasonably priced for the city. Would strongly recommend it. Make a reservation!"

  • "Although Siroc doesn't have a pre-theater menu, we made reservations for 5:30 when they opened and were able to enjoy a leisurely dinner with great food before leaving to get to the Kennedy Center by 7:15 for our show. Service was prompt and efficient, food came quickly but we never felt rushed. Food presentation was lovely and the food itself is delicious. We'd recommend Siroc to anyone wanting a nice dinner for 2-4 diners before heading off to the Theater."

  • "Really enjoyed the experience. After a day of cold and miserable weather, I was able to warm up at a table with attentive, but not overbearing staff, good food and wine. I'll be back."

  • "We ate there 2 different nights. The first night was wonderful and our server Lana was super. She made it a really great time for us and made us feel very comfortable. The second night was good but not as good as with Lana (her section was already full)."

  • "Dining room full but not crowded or too noisy. Diverse patrons. Date night for some. Family dinner for others. Few doing business. All looked local and happy to be there. No obvious tourists except us! We we're advised the chocolate tort would take 15 minutes. Worth the wait. Credit card machine broke but they were able to come up with old fashion charge plate machine."

  • "This was a delightful discovery near my DC office of excellent Italian food. The service was also extremely attentive and warm, without being too much. A delightful evening."

  • "Was curious to see if our great experience during Restaurant Week would hold up, so when a friend came to D.C. on a business trip, I decided to try Siroc again. And once again, the restaurant did not disappoint. The service was excellent -- attentive, but not obtrusive, the food was excellent and although the restaurant was crowded, the tables are far enough apart that I didn't feel I was sharing my conversation with the diners on either side of me. Would definitely recommend any of the pastas, and the stuffed squid appetizer was fantastic."

  • "Siroc has become one of our two favorite downtown DC restaurants. The other is Le Diplomate. Siroc stands out as cozy place to take friends. It's pleasant but unassuming ambience is excellent for get togethers with friends for an evening of delicious and creative Mediterranean fusion cuisine and conversation. The wine list has something for all tastes and budgets. The service is arguably among the very best in the DC area. They are young but clearly trained very, very well. They are there when you need them, always close by, but never bothersome. I like it's close in but off-the-beaten path location. It's convenient by Metro, but also has amply parking, something uncommon in the crowded downtown area."

  • "It was our first visit there. We met friends from Pennsylvania for dinner. The services and food was outstanding. The rockfish that I had was prepared to perfection as was everything we had. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will go back."

  • "My wife and I were in town for the Rock & Roll Marathon this past weekend, so of course the night before we wanted to grab some Italian. When I filtered down the list of Italian places that were close to our hotel, well reviewed, and reasonably priced, Siroc was at the top of the list. You should definitely go! - Appetizer: Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops - 2 jumbo scallops over lentils. Very good. - Wife's Dinner: Butternut Squash Cappellacci - Creamy/buttery thin ravioli-like pasta dish. Delicious. - My Dinner: Fettuccine Bolognese - MUCH more than just a meat sauce. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was amazing. - Price: For the price you'd pay at an Olive Garden you get truly delicious Italian in DC. You can't beat that!"

  • "A very good deal for a business lunch, especially in an area of the city where you either need to spend a lot or you get pretty low-end food."

  • "Food was OK. I have much better in No VA. Seemed over-priced. Definitely too noisy for a quiet conversation. Disappointed."

  • "Seated promptly for our reservation for a party of 5. Definitely will return to try other dishes. The snapper was excellent. Great favor and prepared perfectly"

  • "Siroc serves the finest pasta dishes in the city, but what about the lunch? Excellent. Today served the roasted chicken panini, served with a generous side of mixed green salad and roasted potatoes. The flavors are lively and fresh. Great way to elevate the day. And, as always, the service is professional and gracious, from start to finish."

  • "Everything was very authentic from the staff, to the food, to the ambiance. That is very rare to find for a Floridian. Food was outstanding, desert was good and the wine list was more than adequate for a restaurant three times it's size"

  • "We had a great dinner at Siroc. The baby arugula salad with gorgonzola cheese and red beets was a great way to start. The fresh pasta was excellent and cooked al dente. The Fettuccine Bolognese was flavorful. The hands down winner at the table was the Butternut Squash Cappellacci. It was a melt in your mouth experience and we were all still talking about it the next day. The wait staff was attentive and the manager made two great wine recommendations. We will return!"

  • "Chili Spiced Spaghetti was tasty. It was not spicy at all as the waitress described, but it had a really nice taste. Also nice option was half portions of pasta, so you could have two different items for the price of one and not have to share with someone else."

  • "Our party of four had really good food and we were properly attended to. I'd recommend this place for a fine dining experience."

  • "Met three of my gal pals for lunch on Thursday. Great location -- near McPherson Square station for Metro riders and close to three public garages for those not on a Metro line who need to drive into the city. Space is a bit tight, so I love that they offered to check coats as we arrived. Service was attentive but not rushed, food was EXCELLENT (can't decide between wonderful pasta offerings? You can opt to order a "duo" of your two top choices.) All in all, it was a great experience."

  • "The portions were - very fresh salad. As a fish lover, I'm try to select the most uncommon choice so the Branzino was top of the list. However, my meal was very salty for my palate - a non-salt person. It was perfectly cooked as were the sides - spinach also salty potatoes great. My friend enjoyed her filet - they know what rare means. I would recommend but if you're like me, don't forget to remind them no salt."

  • "Siroc was a great place for a Valentine's Day dinner - the food was delicious, the waitstaff kind and fast, and the dessert was just what I wanted (freshly made dark chocolate tart with warm, gooey center). Our waitress was very kind and friendly, and it seemed that our orders were perfectly timed - coincident or well-planned? Either way she was great to deal with and helpful with explaining the dishes. The waitstaff that refilled water were rather amazing. My water, which I barely touched for I was drinking wine, was never below half empty before someone would come by and fill it. My only complaint, if so it can be called, would be the noise level. At times it felt rather noisy although it was a very small room with not many people."

  • "Great food for value. $65 per person for a 4 course meal that leaves you more than satisfied. All dishes were properly seasoned and tasted great. The ambiance was perfect for valentine's and the noise level was adequate. No need to yell, but you also didn't hear the people at the tables next to you."
