A word from Siroc Restaurant
Chef Martin Lackovic, formerly of Galileo, I Matti and The Caucus Room, opens Siroc Restaurant on McPherson Square with brothers Keram and Mehdi Dris, who run the front of the house. Siroc's seasonal menu features cooking inspired by Italy and the Mediterranean with housemade pastas, charcuterie, salads and entrées. The new restaurant takes its name from a wind that blows from northern Africa to Italy and the Mediterranean.Continued

  • "Came here for my boyfriend's birthday. A quick mention got us a candle on the desert plate, but thankfully no big to-do about it. The food was great, beautifully presented and came out pretty quickly. Venue had a great porch but it was very windy so we opted for indoors, which was slightly on the small side, but we never felt cramped. It was a Monday night though so on a busier night I can see how it could get crowded. Beat part for me was they used French Press coffee for our decaf coffee at dessert time and then left us the whole press. As a coffee lover, I was sold for that alone. Overall, great food, lovely venue, easy to get to and decently priced, prib best to go on a weekday if you're looking for a quiet dinner."

  • "Customer service was great. Every waiter and waitress took care of you not just one. Anyone would stop by and clean off plates, top off your beverages and etc as they passed by. Nice touch. A little small which results in it being a little louder. All in all great"

  • "Third time at the restaurant. Surprisingly the entree's were NOT good. The Snapper did not taste fresh. The pasta was salty. Wine was excellent, apps (smoked salmon; potato cake) were great, salad was fresh, two of the desserts were very good. The pear dessert that we took home was a bit more tart than expected. The chocolate torte came out earlier than expected. Took home three desserts. Coffee was fresh but weak. The last two times the food was excellent. Service was great. We were both just very surprised at the Entrée. Expected more for spending nearly $250.00. J. Varghese"

  • "Interesting take on some Italian standards, from the sauces to the eggplant. Entrees were well prepared and flavorful. Wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. Modern, crisp looking interior with a nice quiet noise level. Wine selections were reasonably priced. Only misstep was dressings on both salads were on the salty side for our taste. Been there before and will go again."

  • "We read Open Table reviews and were looking forward to our dinner at Siroc. We were promptly seated (on a Tues night) and very quickly greeted by our waitress. Service was very fine throughout the meal. We were served an "amuse bouche." It was a combination of a piece of potato, red pepper, and a ton of garlic. It was hideous tasting! Why anyone would serve this a mystery. Our large salads were fine - nothing special. For the main course I ordered the spinach Pappardelle with shrimp - since it got so many rave reviews. Perhaps it was a off night, but the pasta was over cooked, had a lot of oil, and the smallest shrimp I have ever seen. I think they were chopped. My date ordered the Bronzino and liked it. The restaurant was super noisy!"

  • "We had an early reservation, were seated in front of room, right next to check in desk and in the middle of the bustle, we asked for a table towards the back and were denied, all were "reserved" despite the fact that we had had a reservation also. Told them we planned on having a leisurely dinner, but were rushed through, 4 courses and we were out of there in under an hour. Food reasonable. Basic, but huge portions. An italian restaurant without a cesear salad. Good if you want to come and go in a hurry, bad for any special occasion meal. May work well for lunch."

  • "Tasty Italian food. Hubby got the fettucine bolognese. The twist was that the meat was a good cut of steak mixed with pancetta--much better than the typical ground beef bolognese. I had spaghetti with chili--not as hot as I would have expected but still delicious. My son ordered steak and it was FABULOUS. The only place we've had better steak was at Ruth's Chris, and this was substantially less costly than that! Wines by the glass were a bit limited but good choices. Bread was excellent--we went through three baskets!! Server was a bit abrupt but it may have been a language difficulty (or our being dressed down--couldn't tell from the online presence how dressed up we should be.)"

  • "I think so! I have been going to Siroc for years now. It never ceases to amaze me how amazing their wait staff are. They are extremely attentive, know the menu inside and out, and are just plan amazing. I don't say this often, but Siroc has exceptional service. To further enhance the experience the food is top notch. Each item on the menu is exceptionally crafted and is clearly made fresh to order. I recommend Siroc to anyone who will listen to me. It is truly one of the gems of DC. I look forward to going back again soon."

  • "Our group of 8 sat at the one roundtable and it was great. We could all talk and all hear each other (we did have a 6 pm reservation). Everyone liked their dishes: branzino and two different pastas. The portions are ample, including the large and delicious salad appetizers. Great bread served with olive oil a big plus."

  • "Although quickly checked in and led to our table for an early pre-theatre dinner, the wait staff were otherwise occupied, and provided perfunctory service when available. We skipped starters, were warned we would have to wait 15 mins for the mains. Egg plant wrapped with lamb was OK but actually reheated, as was my wife's snapper filet; piping hot plates was the giveaway. Best thing about the meal was a wonderful glass of Umbrian 70% Sangiovese. At $106 for this little lot, the restaurant offers poor value. We visit Italy regularly. This restaurant would never survive in Italy."

  • "Had the lamb with eggplant, it was very good. My wife had the branzino and that was very good too. What made this place even more special was their level of accommodation, branzino comes as a whole fish but they removed the head, tail and skin for her. We ordered the chocolate tart which they bake in house when you order it, you have to get that because that's very good too."

  • "I had not been to Siroc in quite some time- I was pleased to see that they had put in a bar sometime in the past year. As usual the food was very good (fresh black bass special) although the sweetbreads prep was odd (they should have been trimmed better). I was pleased to see that the waitstaff was stable, service from hostess to waitress to buss(person) was great; the entire experience was excellent. we ate outside on the sidewalk on a beautiful night overlooking the Square and the server knew that we wanted a leisurely meal so she timed her visits well. Excellent value on food, drinks, wine by the glass. You can have Café Milano, I will take Siroc!"

We chose to eat outdoors, in the sidewalk patio, and it was a little too noisy, a little too gritty - so, if we dine here again, we'll ask for a table indoors."

  • "This is on our list of our 10 all around favorite restaurants! Everything was perfect. The food was amazing. I had the fettuccine bolognese and my husband had the beef tenderloin. Both were the best we'd ever had. They were reasonably priced considering the exceptional quality! The servers were very attentive and knew the menu very well. We were thoroughly impressed in every way. We will definitely return next time we are in DC."

  • "Though I've worked only a couple blocks from Siroc, this was my first visit to this little gem adjoining McPherson Square. Service is warm and attentive, it's a pleasant and quiet room (great for conversation), and while lunch options are fewer than some downtown restaurants, they are nothing short of delicious. My lunch companion had the salmon, I had the shrimp with fettuccine, and we were both pleased. For many like me, this may be one of downtown D.C.'s hidden treasures."

  • "We were visiting DC for the weekend and I was craving Italian food. Searched Yelp and Google for recommendation. Their top recommendations were all closed on Sunday. Then I found Siroc. Lucky for us the others were closed. We had a terrific meal. The pasta was fresh and delicious. Cooked perfectly. Flavors vibrant and unique. Our server helped us pick a delicious bottle of Italian wine. Highly recommend!"

  • "I had a craving for pasta for lunch and decided to look for Italian restaurants in walking distance of my office via Open Table. I found Siroc. The menu offered a selection that would meet my need, it was affordable, and it had great reviews. By this time it was about 11 AM, so I made a reservation for 12:30 PM. When I arrived the restaurant was small, quaint and I can definitely see it being a nice place for a romantic meal--however, I was there with a coworker--LOL! We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We had pasta--he had the special which was shrimp with Fettuccine and I had Fettuccine Bolognese. SIMPLY DELICIOUS AND FILLING! We also shared their popular dessert which was a warm cake with blueberries--light and tasty! Going back!"
