Food was okay, but massively overpriced. The special was a small bouillabaisse for $38 that had less seafood than the $19 bowl of mussels. And nothing about the place was french. $230 before tip for 1 starter + 4 entrees + 2 desserts + bad wine.

  • 5 Stars for Sips

Having ate at fine French Restaurants in LA, San Diego County (Mille Fleur) and in Paris. Sips is a match for any of them. In France, Sips could be a 2-star Michelin (on the way to 3-star) restaurant. My dinner of Diver Scallops in a carrot puree with a rutabaga salsa was simply delicious. The scallops were prepared perfectly with the right amount of caramelized crust on the top and bottom. It was a perfect match for the carrot puree/rutabaga salsa. As an appetizer, I had the country pate with a great creamy dijon-based mustard. One of the best pate's I have had and I have eaten some very good pate's. The chocolate creme dessert was exquisite along with a great cup of French Roast coffee. Sips is siptastic! Very good wine list.

We had a delicious dinner before a concert at the Colonial Theatre. The food was better than expected and our server, Shannon, had a great personality and good recommendations on wine choices to pair with our meal. We were not rushed and enjoyed a relaxing outdoor dinner. We will definitely be back !

Sips recently got a new Chef and the re-vamped their menus. The new brunch menu was terrific. I ordered the Breakfast Ciabatta and it was delicious. Friends ordered the Eggs Benedict with Duck Confit and said it was amazing! They also serve Oysters, I don't eat them, but the rest if the table was raving. Sips has always been our go to for brunch, happy hour and date-night dinner. It is just a great place to meet with friends. We cannot wait to come back to try out the updated dinner menu.

Sips provided a good dining experience. Went with another couple and had a very nice dinner. The service was great throughout the meal. The food was good, but many options were a poor value. I enjoy my meal, but thought that the mussels were very small; not sure if it's a bad time a year for them. Another diner who ordered the scallops joked that they forgot to put half of them on the plate when what looked like to be only 3 scallops cut in half to make 6 small pieces of scallops arrived. While the meal was good, the nearly $200 we spent on dinner would have been better spent at Majolica or Marleys. If someone wants to take you there for dinner, don't say no, but if it's your choice, there are better restaurant on Bridge St. to choose.

We have eaten at Sips frequently right from the beginning when it opened. Unfortunately, our early experiences which were mostly positive have steadily gone downhill. Recently we decided to give it another chance. Sips' last chance. The soup was the only part of the food that was acceptable and, actually, it was quite good. But, in a word, the kitchen needs serious attention. Sorry, Sips, we really wanted to like you but you have a long way to go before we'll return. And, of course, we probably won't know because we refuse to be disappointed one more time.

This restuarant has carpet, big negative. Carpet in a restuarant is never a good idea. The whole restuarant ends up smelling like dirty carpet. The food was very underwhelming. We had French onion soup, crab cake, and mussels. The soup was very average, definitely not the best. Crab cake just so-so, mussels where bad, most of them had bad flavor. Service was fine, but we won't be back. Not romantic, not a hidden gem.

As usual the food and outdoor dining were great. We got the worst waiter this time though. Our water and iced tea glasses were never refilled and empty the last 20 minutes (I was thirsty) and we were never given bread. I gave him an unearned 15% tip at my wife's insistence.I'll go back but steer clear of this waiters table.

We went here for a birthday dinner, and sat outside as it was a beautiful evening. We ordered a cheese plate which was quite nice. It came with 3 types of cheeses, some grapes, toasted bread, cornichons, and fig jam. We were not given bread, and had to ask; maybe because the cheese plate came with toast? They did have French wine by the glass, so I took a chardonnay, which also delivered. I chose the bass with ratatouille and my spouse had the poulet which had an awful lot of rice. Something green would have complimented it well, adding some color. Salads and vegetables are additional. There is no prix fixe. Sips was ok, but not someplace I would go running back to again. The town is vibrant, loaded with restaurants.

Another couple, my wife and I have eaten dinner at Sips twice before on Saturday evenings and had excellent experiences. Great food. Our third, more recent experience, was terrible. Three of us ordered their special hamburger. They only vaguely represented the way we ordered them cooked. Two of us ordered Brussels sprouts, which we done before and found excellent. This time both looked bad and tasted worse. My wife's mussels were dry and had no taste. We did complain about the sprouts and the waitress took them off the bill. Should have complained about the rest as well. The beer was excellent

Service was poor. Water glasses were not filled when empty, water was luck warm with no ice. waiter was not attentive, did not come by table often to check on us (we needed water often) and it took much, much too long for our dinner to be served. Last, when the food came, the portions were on the small side for the cost. Food was good but not noteworthy.

First visit. A Friday evening. Ate outside. Attentive service. My wife had the onion soup to start off with and I had the fried oysters. Both very good. I then went for the classic "steak-frites" and she, the salad with crab-cake. Again, both very good. All accompanied by an excellent glass of Côte du Rhone. Topped off with a delicious Crème brûlée and espresso. We'll be back.

I would have to rate this restaurant as average. The trout had to be sent back due to it giving off a foul smell and tasting unusual. The calimari was not acceptable. However, the staff were attentive and apologetic, providing desert on the house. But, the desert was just average. Overall, the experience was not great.

This is the kind of place I seek out with fervor and latch onto for years. I've been lucky to find gems like this before but not so close and in my new neighborhood. I almost don't want to tell anyone how amazing it is. If you're looking for a fabulous time, amazing food, and great drinks, head over to Sips. This is the new French cuisine, subtle tradition wrapped in American tones. Great dining experience and the staff was down to earth and to the point. Absolutely great.

My husband and I tried this restaurant because of Groupon I found, and it's will definitely be added to our list of favorites! The restaurant is nicely decorated - great ambiance. We ordered the cheese platter as an appetizer - delicious cheeses included a smooth cheddar, smoked gouda and bleu cheese, with toast points, gherkins, grapes and fig marmalade. My husband had the ribeye steak special and I had the soft shell crab special...both wonderful dishes. And we had a terrific waiter, Jeffrey, who made the meal that much more enjoyable. Highly recommend this restaurant - go out of your way, if you have to.

Have eaten dinner here many times and the food has always been top notch. Very disappointed in the brunch menu. I am used to getting multiple choices for brunch and this menu only allowed you to order 1 main course. Also the majority of the choices had an up charge. We ended up ordering omelets from the menu which were sooo small as well as the potatoes served were to raw to eat.. It also took about 5 minutes once we were seated for anyone to come over and take a drink order. Will not be having brunch here again!

The four of us enjoyed our meals, especially the beef tournedos. They gave you a country club pour on the drinks. They did not have Bluecoat gin but have promised to have it the next time. We were planning to enjoy the outside dining but the weather was too windy and chilly so we sat in the bar. A bit noisy but after all, it is a bar. I would go back and hope to have good weather to enjoy the beautiful setting outside.

An hour from Philadelphia and in a nice little coming-back to life town, the place was easy to find and easy to enjoy. The food was creative without needing a translation card to figure out. The portions could have been bigger, though some dishes were large portions; others small. Easy to rectify: put more potatoes/veggies on the smaller ones to make them more filling. Nice sauces; well executed dishes without being artwork. Fresh fish in the fish dishes. The desserts, particularly the profiteroles, were superb.

We recently tried Sips Bistro and were not impressed on our initial visit. Our server was not familiar with the menu, but did check on questions and came back with answers. Our daughter is a vegetarian, and there were not a lot of choices. The server assisted her with fish choices, however other restaurants have been creative to offer some additional options. We sat outside which was nice, however there was music playing from a nearby apartment that was competing with the restaurant's background music. We ordered an appetizer version of mussels and an entree version with a side of fries (never saw this before) arrived. We asked the server...no apparent adjustment was made, and never received an itemized bill, just the slip with the total.

This is a chic small restaurant with outdoor sitting. It has a bar. But on Sunday it is BYOB. We went there on aSunday evening . It was nice and quiet. I ordered the duck. It was crispy outside and flavorful inside. It would be perfect if it was a little bit more juicy. The serving is of good portion. We did not have dessert because there was no room. The server was very pleasant. We will certainly return in the near future.
