  • "After a 6-month hiatus, we decided to give Sip another try and were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant has made significant improvements to both the service and food. The menu is still the same but the food tastes like it's being prepared by someone who enjoys cooking. Our waiter was full of energy and always had a pleasant smile on his face. Food just seems to taste better in a happy environment. They also hired a fun bartender."

  • "I waited about 10 minutes to get a sangria. The bar and restaurant were not even full. When the sangria arrived it was poured at the level of a glass of wine...the problem, it was over ice and that short of a pour. It tasted delicious but for almost $10 I felt a little ripped off due to the very short pour."

  • "....we gave SIP a chance for Mother's Day brunch. The food was good quality, tasty & fresh. The buffet table had a reasonable selection & was kept well stocked until the buffet was over. Service was overall good but with the occasional wait. I agree with previous reviews that the music is too loud especially when the horns section of Sinatra-esque tunes blast. Not sure if it was because of the section we were seated. Ambiance was nice as was the outdoor patio since it was a grand, sunny day. Price was very fair for this particular brunch. Overall we had s great time and Mom was very happy. I was also happy because I enjoy good cuisine & quality food despite expecting disappointment. I feel SIP delivered and I will be back."

  • "My wife and I have eaten dinner at Sip many times and plan to return often. Doing brunch at Sip was a new experience for us and a disappointing one at that. They offer omelets to order and we thought we were in for a treat. All four at our table ordered an omelet and each of us agreed the omelets were the worst we ever tasted. The cook added so much cheese, it was almost soup on our plate. A spoon was needed, not a fork. Also, the bacon was more like jerky, it was so tough. Lesson learned, go to Sip for a great dinner; not a mediocre breakfast."

  • "Our group of 6 was running late for a movie on a busy Friday night. We advised the hostess that we were on a 45--50 minute time frame. She was pleasant and said that our server, Leilani, would take care of us. Leilani arrived at our table and was all smiles. She took our orders for drinks, wine and several shared plates. Everything came quickly and with continued smiles. All of the dishes were excellent. We really appreciated the wonderful service and food and are anxious to return when we have the proper amount of time. "

  • "Kind of a wine country-esque attempt with flavorful food, much of it Asian inspired. Wine options we're solid, service was attentive although not always on the mark (our entree came at the same time as the small plates). Some small plates are large (Poke) while others are very small (beef skewers). Pricing is high relative to what it is ($36 for three seared scallops?). They are trying but I find more value and variety in Seattle restaurants."

  • "We tried Sips after finding it on Open Table. We were heading to a show at Village Theater. My Ahi was overcooked (nowhere near rare) and very salty. The manager offered to replace the order but we didn't have time to start over. They apologized and took it off the bill. I appreciated their response, but felt the prices were too high for me to be interested in returning."

  • "Been to Sip a number of times. Nice bar and appetizer menu. 5 stars for the truffle fries with Parmesan cheese. Shrimp and grits are great. However, I am always left wanting when it comes to the entree - from a somewhat bland paella to undercooked rack of lamb. Stick to a cocktail, fries and then head someplace if you're still hungry."

  • "The food was fabulous and our server outstanding. Our only negative experience was a phone call I received from the restaurant 24 hours before our reservation trying to push us into their VIP club membership. I am glad I didn't cancel my reservation at that point (which I almost did)."

  • "It took 3 hours to be served. We got endless apologies and excuses for our poor service. When the entrees finally arrived one steak was supposed to be well done and it was close to rare. It was sent back and the rest of us finished our meals long before the well done steak arrived. We've eaten there several times before and always had great service. We also watched diners all around us being seated, served and finished while our entrees were still mysteriously missing. I believe the waitress was just simply not competent. She was very pleasant and knew a lot about wine, but could not seem to get her act together otherwise."

  • "Our 2nd (final) foray to a Sip event night such i,e. Valentines, New Years. We did both and walked away with the same poor results of long wait and surprise, fixed menu. Sip draws a great local crowd of patrons to its large open bar and great wine list. However, after trying both New Years and Valentines, this is not the place to try for "event" nights... Sip over-books the tables, such that reservations were 50 - 60+ minutes late in seating. Also, Sip is not upfront when you make the reservation in informing these event nights are fixed menu. Warning: if you do not like the fixed "event" menu at a table, and choose to enjoy the bar menu, they will be extremely reluctant to let you eat at a table, they will ask you to move to the bar!"

  • "7:00 res. delayed til 7:30, table was bare b/c we didn't pay for full rose bouquet or sprinkling of rose petals. These were extra charges to the pre-fixed menu of $80 each. Server was pleasant. Restaurant was not ready for the evening's business. One bite (seriously, one bite) appetizer was very good, our soup and salad were not brought out. The main dishes were good, but very small portions. "Molten lava cake" was a 2" heart shaped brownie (good, but NOT a molten lava cake). I've had $200 dinners. This was not one of them. I hope they can pull it together because it is a cute restaurant, they just tried to hard to maximize their profits this Valentine's Day. When we left, our appetizer, dinner and dessert dishes were still on our table."

  • "The menu was way too limited. I understand having a few choices on a busy night, but the ones' they chose weren't very good. I am a beef eater and had little or no beef choices. Was hoping regular choices on their regular menu would be available, like steak or scallops. The portions were very small and WAY overpriced. We tipped according to what the menu SHOULD have cost. Will NEVER choose SIP again on a special occasion. They are worth going to with a prime card discount, but not any other time."

  • "My husband surprised me with dinner on Valentines day at 5PM. I was very excited as we were looking forward to a juicy steak and great wine. It's a beautiful restaurant. When we arrived,the hostess proceeds to place us at the kitchen entrance when there were many tables available near the fireplace and locations away from the kitchen. She was put out when I asked to have a table away from the door, so she moved us "to the only other table available" (there, were many) by the other kitchen entrance. The food was a price fixe menu and (included weird beet items) although $96pp, no steak (?!). Lamb, greasy fish or risotto. It was as if we had happened upon a bad catered event. Total bummer."

  • "I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. The presentation of the food looked... ok. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was reasonably good. But the seared scallops was a flop for us. We ordered two dishes and both were consistently miserable. We also ordered the pasta with shredded duck confit. Although it was slightly better than the seared scallops. In summary, the quality of the food is nowhere near the price one has to pay for. However, the ambience of the restaurant was quite nice, and the service was decent."

  • "As a long time customer of Sip, we decided to reserve the New Year's offering for the prix-fix dinner/wine pairing. We reserved an early seating (4:00) since we had later plans. We were seated, shown the special menu, and then waited for about 10 minutes for a server, who then told us the New Years menu was not available until 5:00! Long story, but we ended up ordering from the regular dinner menu, the ribeye was so thin and tough, the 32.00 price tag was laughable, my Ancho Filet, was so covered in garlic that it was inedible, so for 150.00, we got no New Years, and VERY substandard food. With so many options in Issaquah now, Sip may have some corrections to make!"

  • "We took our teenaged children to dinner at SIP before seeing a show at the Village Theatre. We have very different food tastes and so were impressed with the variety on the menu. The scallops were absolutely outstanding. The short rib was really good as well. We all agreed that the truffle popcorn delivered to us before dinner was really good as well. Our only disappointment was the speed of dinner. Even with an early reservation (5:00 p.m.) and being one of only three tables in the restaurant, dinner took nearly 45 minutes after ordering to be delivered. This pushed us really late to get to the theatre. However, we will return when we have a bit more time to dine."

  • "This was my first time at Sips. The drink, food and wine menu was substantial. We ordered from all three and everything was very good. SIPS had a nice ambiance for a romantic Christmas eve date. The waiter was courteous and engaging but didn't know the menu as well and seemed inexperienced about the wine list. However, he was quick to offer a tasting before purchasing by the glass. That was much appreciated. I would absolutely go back to this restaurant again!"

  • "A busy, bustling bar & restaurant; noise level is high but tolerable when seated at the tables. Definitely need a reservation on Friday or Sat nights. We got seated on time but were ignored by the wait staff for nearly 30 min! Finally the manager was alerted and brought us our wine and a complementary starter. Food was good, but service was definitely a turn-off. Will think twice before returning."
