Angus' cafe was a nice choice for new years eve. We were close to the times square action but away from the chaos. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was sufficient to curb an appetite.

So so but pricey food, no wine selection by the bottle, cheap house wine served as a Malbec, lack luster ambiance, musty damp odor. Does not deserve to be in the same street as Carmine's and should be avoided at all costs.

Terrible after waiting for 80 minutes we still were not served and had to leave as we were going to a show right next door tables around us did the same When you are a restaurant in the theater district you should be aware that your customers have to get to a show

Waiter was fun and good natured but the food was mediocre, the owner insists on such rigidity as if his menu is perfect, and the ambience was old bar. High spot are the fries if you want fries ( I didn't and got them anyway). The beef burger was either tasteless or it was a turkey burger when I ordered beef. All in all, s'ok but not going to be a repeat.

On this pre theatre dinner return visit, we elected to sit upstairs...good move. Much more quiet, better service and an intimate setting, The onion soup was excellent as was the main course meat dish. A solid wine list and out in time for the show next door...Highly recommended.

They fitted in a last-minute party of five at 7.15 pm, produced a wonderful meal without rush and with great friendliness - and got us into the theatre at 8.00. Amazing. Michael Frayn

We were sent upstairs immediately although there was room downstairs and it is very ugly up there with no atmosphere whatsoever. The youngish girl at the reception was so unprofessional. The real reason of this exile was that she took us for tourists : I am originally from France but have lived in NYC for 40 years and my husband is a 5th generation New Yorker! We go to the theater an average of twice a week and this type of reception is very rare, so why bother? We went back to a simple, friendly and good bistro : Cafe un deux trois. There is a lot of better choice so avoid Angus.

Good food. Sweet and attentive waitress. The portions were a bit small but the prices were so reasonable you cant complain.
