Ice House Cafe' and Oyster Bar has been a staple in the Herndon area for a long time. Always great food, service, wine & beer selections. I've had a lot of business and casual meals there and have never been disappointed.

Did not have the appetizer we ordered. Took 15 minutes to get a drink from the bar. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. They sat a table of 4 right next to us that were very loud. Entrees were served at different paces. Had to wait. The best thing about the evening was the chowder and the oysters

We booked a table for nine through the website and called ahead to make sure they received it. When we got there, it took 30 minutes to get drinks (the waiter was also the bartender). We also ordered 4 appetizers along with the drinks and only received 2 of them after waiting 45 minutes. We didn't bother ordering entrees, went to Jimmy's across the street instead. This place is nothing like the website, the restaurant is showing it's age - falling apart in places and the walls are covered in taxidermy. Of the drinks we did receive, 2 of them had fruit flies floating in them. Incredibly disappointing, stay away!

Food and service once seated were very good. Had an 8:30 reservation. Arrived at 8:30 and had to wait 15+ minutes (standing at/in the front door) for a table. Big crowd for the jazz that Saturday night made the room extra loud.

As we arrived I was thinking how great it is that a fun restaurant with a unique interior and live music has survived the latest surge in redevelopment. we had a great meal - DUCK (I've been disappointed so many times, but they do a very good duck) and shrimp and grits. the band was fun and of course the walrus, bear, deer looked on. at the end of the meal, the waiter told us that they were closing the end of the year - as the rent had doubled .... SO anyone who wants to check out this really unique and fun place with live music and good food and choices of beer - instead of a chain restaurant, please go !! also if anyone knows somebody really rich who can buy out the owner and keep them there it would be a great service to Herndon.
