Sushi Taro is a first Japanese restaurant to feature a full course meal “KAISEKI” Tasting course. We offer exceptionally high quality and an authentic variety of “Nigiri” style sushi. Our style is “Genuine Japanese Cuisine” and we do not serve fusion-confusion and Americanized Japanese foods. ***** We have ranked #36 in entire restaurant in U.S. on Forbs Magazine, 2012. ***** For more information about Sushi Taro and “KAISEKI”, please visit our website. Sushi Taro is a Michelin Star restaurant so I obviously went in with high hopes. I was disappointed. The food was alright, don't get me wrong, but nothing near what I expected from such a highly touted restaurant. The sushi rolls were average at best. While the food was exotic and interesting, it just wasn't tasty enough for me to wholeheartedly recommend it. If you're up for an interesting and adventurous experience, this is a great place to go. If you're in the mood for some traditional sushi rolls, however, there are better places.

This was our first experience at this restaurant. They offer a great opportunity for your dinning experience. Saki offerings were fantastic. This is a more traditional dinning experience so expect more raw/rare offerings than a more modern sushi restaurant.

First off this place is extremely expensive. Now a little about me, I travel all over the world for work and pleasure so I have experienced all kinds of food and love to new and exciting foods. Not to brag, but I make very good money and do not mind dropping $200-300 on a great meal for two, but this food was not worth it in my opinion. Our check was almost $275.00 for four appetizers, and one big dish for two and four glasses of white wine. The place is in bad part of town, the door is so small it's on the side of CVS drug store, if you blink miss it...and looks extremely dated. The service was good, the crowd was extremely casually dresses like they we getting ready to mow the lawn. There are so many sushi places way better than this place for a lot less. We usually pay around $150.00 for the same amount of sushi & drinks in other sushi places.

Great concept and well executed tasting menu with one of the better Sake pairings I have enjoyed. Not cheap, especially for what is essentially no frills sushi without any particularly expensive cuts, but the variety and quality are worth it for the most part.

The surf and turf kaiseke is phenomenal. The sake pairings are perfect. Well worth it.

Sushi Taro is the best Sushi restaurant in DC. By far. It is on par with restaurants I've been to in Tokyo.
