Il Casale is located in the heart of Belmont at 50 Leonard Street. Acclaimed Chef Dante de Magistris and his brothers Damian and Filippo, the team behind the celebrated Restaurant Dante in Cambridge, have joined forces once again to bring rustic, authentic Italian cuisine to their hometown. The cucina Italiana, which is housed in Belmont’s historic firehouse, offers a beautiful brick patio, white marble bar, and barnwood tables for a unique and enjoyable dining experience. We had a fantastic dinner last Saturday night. The wait staff was superb and the food was outstanding. Instead of looking at a menu and wondering what I would have, I looked and said how am I going to decide? I want to try everything.

The ambience in the restaurant was pleasant and the service was good. I'd say that our server didn't check on us as much as I'd like and he seemed to be distracted. The pasta was a touch over-cooked and the fried eggplant was more like fried eggplant pieces, than an actual eggplant 'steak'. I had to add salt to my dish. All in all, though, the experience was "good", not "great". I'd go back, but there's better Italian in the area.

This was an all around pleasant experience with a good menu, excellent service, and a not too busy ambience (Thursday evening). We like it better than its sister restaurant, Wellington, which is also in Belmont, in that it has a more diverse menu and more reasonably priced meals with many half portions. Certainly a go-to choice.

This restaurant, in an old firehouse, is a good choice for a young person, couple or group, or anyone who wants an excellent dining experience and doesn't recoil from high decibels. The waitstaff is responsive and efficient, personable and knowledgeable, and the food is well prepared and presented. There is no pressure to leave quickly, but conversation is a bit difficult anyway. The menu, while not extensive, is primarily Italian cuisine, though with a flair. We did not sample desserts but found the appetizers, main courses and wine list as we hoped they would be. Overall, though expensive, it's fine dining.

We had a great night out at Il Casale as the food was excellent and the service was top notch. We ordered five courses and they spaced them perfectly. The only small complaint is the wine by the glass selections are limited. Would highly recommend the restaurant.

Service had a big impact on the evening, but it was prime time Friday night. Young support staff, and a Sr waiter that did not supervise successfully. Quality food, and I will give it another go, but not at a peak time.

Il Casale Belmont is unparalleled for excellent pasta and this time our lobster gnocchetti was light, flavorful, and most distinguished, the lovely sauce let the lobster truly shine through. Excellent scallops w saffron risotto and two superb salads, very different - one kale; one green beans w hazelnuts - very fresh and with exactly the right amount of dressing. An excellent recommendation of Greco di Tufo white wine capped it off. The only disappointment: our late reservation - 8:45 on a weeknight - meant the kitchen had closed before we could order dessert!
