Sausal is named after Rancho Sausal Redondo [Round Willow Ranch], the vast farmstead that once encompassed El Segundo and most of the South Bay. The name SAUSAL promises the experience of a deep multi-cultural palate reaching back before California was a part of the United States - back when the citizens of Spain and Mexico called her Alta California - and the coast was defined by large Ranchos.

Our Nuevo Rancho Cuisine pulls history forward by blending traditional Hispanic ingredients with contemporary farmers’ market fare. The menu borrows inspiration from the foundational elements of Rancho cooking: Wood Fire, Smoke, and Slow-Roasting; it celebrates the bold flavors of Mexican cuisine in combination with the elemental flavors of Spain - citrus, olives, figs - that were brought here by the missionaries; and just as importantly, it revels in contemporary bounty -- where fresh vegetables and produce are given a more prominent place at the table.

The food was delicious, several dishes to share and a good combination of flavorful and spicy (not just hot and spicy). The servers were helpful and friendly, checking on us just the right amount. We took a few of the items home and they were boxed and labeled nicely for the next day! Highly recommended!

Very pricey, but good food and service. Need to have real FULL booths; uncomfortable seating, with the half banquettes they have there.

Sausalito never disappoints! Every dish is delicious and innovative, and the service is terrific. Fun vibe and great atmosphere. What a great addition to El Segundo!

Love the chill, relaxing vibe at Sausal. We went on Sunday at for brunch. Chilaquiles, fish tacos, chicken posole and sweet potato fries w/ avocado ranch (guilty pleasure) were delicious. French press coffee was strong and hot...! White sangria was sweet but did the job. Our waiter (don't recall his name) was awesome....sweet and helpful. Would definitely return!

The food at Sausal is delicious! We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday. We were seated at a wonderful round table which is great for conversation. The restaurant can be lively and loud, so keep that mind for the hearing-challenged. We enjoyed their specialty pork chili verde, the chile relleno, several types of tacos, excellent guacamole and our favorite appetizer of shrimp diablo. Everything was fantastic. (Handmade blue corn tortillas come with the pork dish.) Highly recommend.

This is my second visit and it's even better than the first visit... The house salad is amazing! We shared between 3 people and it was more than enough for all of us. Love the small taco plates one of these and splitting the salad was perfect
