We are proudly now offering outdoor dining!!!The historically significant building rests next to a quietly meandering stream in the verdant foothills of New Almaden. Picture windows surrounding the entire dining area allow you to fully enjoy the quietly beautiful surroundings during your meal. Specializing in fine French cuisine, La Foret has earned its place among the area's finest restaurants and in fact has been listed among the 50 best French restaurants in the United States.

La Foret ha an extensive wine list, which includes French and Napa Valley selections. It offers a tasting menu and brunch on Sundays.

                                                                            The service is beyond slow. It too 30 minutes (timed) to get drinks. One diner's souffle arrived before the rest of us got dessert menus. The Caesar salad was the worst I've ever had: oil and Parmesian. Green pepper overwhelmed the vegetable medley. The veal is very good, as is the creme brule. The air conditioning is Arctic.

                                                                            La Foret remains the mainstay of dining excellence. A jewel tucked away in beautiful Almaden valley, we feel lucky to share as our home. It has both remained true to its culinary French roots yet has stayed alive and fresh in its ambience. Our visit this time was to celebrate a daughter’s engagement. The tasting menu offered delicious surprises, that sparked conversations and smiles with each course. A wonderful evening on the path of building new family.

                                                                            A wonderful location. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. We were served water and bread, and no service. We had to request a waiter to attend us after 10 minutes. The veal and prawns were fantastic, and the creme brûlée was very good.

                                                                            This was our first visit and all the good reviews were well-deserved. The tortellini appetizer was exceptional. Make sure to save bread for mopping up the sauce! The prawns (get them grilled) were perfectly cooked and delicious. The wild boar was also perfect and beautifully sauced. Last, but certainly not least, the Grand Marnier souffle was well worth the recommendations we had received. The wines by the glass were well chosen and reasonably priced. This is definitely a bit of a splurge but when we come back I plan to splurge more, not less!
