   Guess either do not know what Italien kitchen should be or try to make it as American as possible - but then do not mark it as Italien.

   The negative reviews are true! The Pro: nice ambient, the wait is quick (I did reserved), the dessert is very good (a tat too sweet) The Cons: Here we go: I order the 4 courses meals and all of them are bad except the dessert. The starter, the entre are over seasoning. Entre claim "waygu" but worse than Safeway...very rubbery and not much flavor at all. The beans are not "cut" and the "bread" are made of what?? very weird texture!! The third course was the cheese: they just fold and put on a sandwich or something very salty. The waitress...am sorry to say...she doesn't have knowledge of the food she serves ( I still tip high but...) Overall, not coming back here for overprice, under value meals. Do take NEG reviews seriously!!!

   We have been to Nikolai's a number of times and have always enjoyed both the food and the service plus the view! Service was excellent. Vasall has waited on us several times and is an excellent waiter!  But; this visit was not up to our expectations. While the piroshki, beef tenderloin, scallops, and deserts were very good, the crab cake had little flavor of crab and was dry. Also, the flounder was dry, maybe overcooked, and the green beans with the flounder were tough. With the limited menu and the price for the dinners, we expect all of the meals should be expertly prepared. We will be back and hope that this review will help Nikolai's to address these issues.

   For a hotel restaurant that’s been around for so long, we were pleasantly surprised. The food, ambiance, and especially the service were all top notch. They very clearly care about providing a memorable experience. At this price point, it’s more of a special-occasion trip than a regular dining experience but we thought it was well worth it.

   Our party of four arrived promptly at 6:30 PM. The Maitre d was not at the welcome station so one of the waiters had to find him. Once he arrived (a very short time) I greeted him with "Good evening" which I received a no reply and no smile. After he found the reservation he lead us to a table in the center of the room instead of a four top by the window (which I requested when I made the reservation a week and a half before for my wife's birthday). I then asked about the table by the window that was vacant and he informed me that it was already reserved. First come first serve??? The service was fair, the waiter was very good, the drinks took a while to arrive even though the bar was half full. The food was good but for $554.00 for four people without wine on a fixed 3 course was over the top. Disapointed? Wouldn't you be?
