About this restaurant

Orange Anchor in Washington, D.C. has one of the best happy hours in the entire city. However, what has kept Orange Anchor so popular is its huge menu of seafood options. If you like fish tacos, this restaurant has you covered. Choose from the mahi mahi, Old Bay shrimp or crispy fish options. There are oysters served chilled or grilled. The tuna taco bites, crab fritters and cheesy crab fries are all very tasty, as well. For your main course at Orange Anchor, try the crab cake sandwich. Its made with a five-ounce crab cake and smoked Cajun tartar sauce. Another winner is the warm melted lobster roll.

Orange Anchor was the only restaurant at the Georgetown waterfront that my husband and I had not tried. We went on a Saturday evening around 7:15. We got seated immediately. Our waitress was just ok. We felt like we were at a TGI Fridays. We had to repeatedly ask for lemons for our water. I had the Crab BLT sandwich and my husband had the Old Bay Tacos. We also ordered a side of the lobster mac. The sandwich was very bland and rather bitter. My husbands tacos were nothing special either. The lobster mac was joke! Basically, it was a vunch of pasta with a very liquidy cheese and a few small pieces of what they called lobster. I guess we expected a lot more considering the location. Although the prices were not as high as the other restaurants in that area, it was definitely not worth it. We had a $83 tab.... WE WILL NOT BE BACK. Don't waste your time or your $$

The food taste was amazing, but unfortunately the size is not worth the price. I work in the restaurant business as well and I thought the appetizers were extremely expensive for what you get. I got the lobster cocktail that had no taste and the scallops that was the smallest thing ever, although they were perfectly cooked. Next time if I go I think I will go straight to the entree because it doesn't make a difference. I had the mussels, both options, and shared with a friend, and they were amazing!!! Can't complain about that at all! Also, I loved the idea of the popcorn at the beginning of the meal, delicious!!!

I would recommend it to anyone! If you are on a time constriction, such as lunch time, I would hesitate since we were nearly 30 minutes late returning to the office and I didn't feel it was necessary. Sometimes restaurants take for granted that you have all day and we did not.

We were on time for our noon appointment and were seated immediately. Promptly, we were served with a container of popcorn but it went downhill from there. We waited 47 minutes for our order of eggs benedict served with fried potatoes. The meal was no better than one would find at a fast food restaurant but with a Bloody Mary and a Coke it came to $47.00. I know it is riverside in Georgetown but give me a break.

The food was delicious and the location is great! The service was OK (slow and inconsistent- but easy to get up and find her if we needed to); however, the orange crushes make up for it! :)

Orange anchor is my favorite restaurant in the Washington Harbor. It has very nice food dishes, and the desserts are awesome as well. I really like the popcorn appetizer. The baked oysters had a bit too much bread crumbs but were very good. The service is very attentive as well.

Not a great place or addition to DC. They've used there location at the water front as an excuse to put out mediocre food. Don't get me wrong, come for oysters and drinks and you'll be satisfied, or sandwiches. But coming for a nice dinner and be disappointed. Ambiance inside is OK, outside seating is nice. Prices for food do not reflect the food itself. Flavors were bland and boring. Small plate with small pieces of lobster for 18, prob four times mark up. Salad was decent at best. Ahi Tuna was not prepared properly and didn't have much flavor. Overall this place has potential but they'll need to step up the food and get some better service. Everyone waiting seems casually "chilling" rather than making sure I have a drink with my food.

Great little spot in the Georgetown Waterfront area. I loved that they served popcorn when you sit down. Food was delicious...I got the hard cider mussels, which were some of the best mussels I've had and not an overwhelming portion. Service was not the best though. It took our waiter a long time to get to us to take our order and he never really checked in on us to see if we wanted another drink, liked our food, etc.

Orange Anchor was recommended to me by a friend and I first visited for brunch. It was reasonably priced and the eggs benedict were delicious! I suggested my Dad go prior to an event at the Kennedy Center and he LOVED the rockfish (although a bit pricey). I went back for dinner and my boyfriend and I both had mussels + a side of the brussel sprouts. Both were wonderful but again, we avoided the entrees because they were $25+/plate. Love the indoor/outdoor feel and brings a new wave to the waterfront!
