Not great. Ground level of the Empire State Building. They were out of most menu options, charged for water and staff were really slow and rude, even though only a few people were in the restaurant and they had plenty of staff - which is great if they are staffing and not chatting in a tinder circle ignoring their customers and acting like we were an inconvenience. Swiping left next time. Boo.

Our server was very friendly and helpful! I won’t in the building so I was here a few times but I brought my parents and they loved It!!

One of my favorite places to go when I spend some time in NYC . Great menu choices and service is always friendly, helpful and professional . A nice layout with quiet ambiance .

Disastrous last night in NYC. I came to the State Grill again as I'd dined here when I got married 8 years prior in New York, so it was a happy memory for me, but sadly this was not a good experience. My mother likes her steak well done, no pink, as she reiterated to the server numerous times, and we expressed even if you have to cut it before it comes out to check then that's fine. Well they did cut it and decided it was fine, even though pink. This resulted in me eating alone and my mum just watching me eat. It comes out again, with even more sauce lashed over the top but still not cooked, and when we mentioned it, we were told that the chef said it was the correct temperature. We didn't specify we wanted a certain temperature, we asked for no pink. I then had to request her to have some of her meal so she could eat something whilst I'm eating mine. It came out a third time and although done, they'd literally cut it up into cubes, it was appalling. Our server seemed to stay away from our table, to the point we had to ask for more drinks. It wasn't busy in the restaurant and even my New York strip despite me asking for medium rare, was more medium, but dry towards the end. They comped the drinks (soft as we don't drink) and my mums meal but I won't ever go here again. So disappointing. I know steak isn't "supposed" to be well done but this was the first time in 2 weeks of dining out we'd had this issue. If you don't want to cook a steak well done, that's fine but at least state it on the menu that you can have it medium, rare or bleu and nothing else. Wouldn't recommend.

Great food, we ordered the new york steak and starters calamari, sour dough and shrimp cocktail. For dessert we ordered the NY cheesecake, cookie selection and chocolate which were all good. Our server was welcoming and service was timely.

The way staff was very attentive and continue to check on his regularly. The food was very good. it was served nice and hot and we did not have a long wait time .
