Regretfully, this restaurant will be closing at the end of the month; hence, the phone call to tell diners that it’s now cash only. I thought the new owner of the building (a local mayor) might have something to do with it, but I was told by the staff that the location was too remote, especially for weekday dining. Well, I remember that issue with the former Rosemont Café that was the previous eatery in that location. It’s a pity because The Pass offered wonderfully creative and well-prepared meals. Just because they may be winding down did not lessen the quality of the food that a friend and I had. Good luck to all (many have seemed to find other work) and thank you for bringing outstanding dining to a beautiful corner of New Jersey.

Very warm welcome, friendly , knowledgable-about-food servers (e.g., answered all our questions about menu items), great chef, delicious food, comfortable surroundings, excellent service without "hovering"

Been wanting to get here forever, finally got to go for a Friday nite dinner. Had the escargot risotto, and pork belly, my wife had the salad and mussels -- all delicious. Be sure to get here before they close on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Don't forget: BYO and cash only.

The service and ambiance were outstanding. The $75.00 tasting menu fell short. The food was good, but the value wasn't there. After the 4th course of rigatoni I was sure a meat course would follow, but in came a small piece of cheese. Followed by cold bread pudding that was simply ok. If I went back I would definitely pass on the tasting menu and order from the regular menu.

We had a beautiful pre-Valentine's Day dinner at The Pass! We enjoyed foie gras and the tuna tartare as appetizers. Both were delicious and plentiful. We had the duck and the bolognese as our entrees, which were also delicious and split cheese and bread for dessert. The meal was quick and the service was great. I highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this place. The Pass replaces the old Rosemont Café. Really enjoyed the predecessor place, but this is a notch above and really tremendous to have a chef of this quality cooking in Hunterdon County. Met the Chef working the garden just before he opened. This was our first time there, after two other attempts were aborted owing to winter storms. The duck really shows his classical training. Everything was great. Being a Jersey guy, would love to see more product sourced from Jersey, but that is a small niggle compared to how enjoyable this place is.

Crispy duck? NOT Out of the frig and warmed up to serve. More like flaccid duck. So salty!! served with white beans it was tasty but almost uneatable. Mussels served with an almost tasteless sauce (more like the water they were steamed in). Topped with a slice of burnt bread - I mean charcoal burnt! - not toasted brown. It was uneatable. The cream and cheese courses were served together. Who does that? To top it all off, coffee was not offered before, during or after the meal . Coffee isn't on the menu. Even though the weather outside was bone chilling and the funky inside so chilly my wife kept her coat on the whole time. We were prepared to like this restaurant - especially after the rave reviews it received in the NY Times and Ledger. What is there to like? The wait staff are pleasant and efficient. Take that salt shaker away from the chef!

It was such a disappointment. I guess I didn't research this restaurant enough. My pumpkin soup was very good, however it was a substitute for the chestnut soup which I had been looking forward to trying. At 6:30 in the evening it was too early to be out of it. Presentation of all the dishes ordered was a disappointment. Mussels entree was just average. The pork belly entree was tough & hard to cut and chew. The duck confit was good although the portion was small. As far as the desserts go, nothing stood out. Again a lack of presentation. We do eat with our eyes. The bread pudding was served in a bowl and it was cold which didn't help improve the flavor. Not even a rasberry was placed on the dish to make it look more attractive.

I live in Philly and work at a restaurant there, so I eat out all the time. While visiting my parents, we tried the pass and were thoroughly impressed. The ambiance is quaint and cute, fitting for the area, but the food is what i cared about. I can't say a bad thing about any dish. Do yourself a favor and get over there now.
