Zenkichi quietly entered the scene in late 2006 in a then up and coming Williamsburg food scene. The unique cuisine and dining experience have had restaurant goers and critics catching on ever since.

The restaurant offers semi private tables for all of its customers and Tokyo-style Japanese cuisine. The focus is on small plates for sharing and tasting with sake. The menu emphasizes Omakase (chef's tasting menu) which changes every five weeks to incorporate the freshest ingredients of the season. The sake selection includes over 50 kinds of carefully chosen premium sake labels.

Zenkichi continues to evolve with a recently added garden. The space is inspired by a Japanese mountain retreat with a glass ceiling that incorporates two 50 year old trees. Which expands the seating space and adds a new dynamic to the already unique décor.

We did the tasting menu, it was alright. None of the dishes were exceptional, but they were tasty. I did expect for the tasting menu to be a bit more creative taste wise and visually. I did the sake pairing as well, and I was not satisfied with the quantity VS. Value. The restaurant is very charming but in need of renovations. Service was good. I would go again, but not get the tasting menu.

Food is bland, overrated and expensive for what it is. Saki was average at best. The service was quick, the waiter was miserable and the portions were very small. Highly NOT recommended

We got the $75 omakase which was great... but i think they need to add 1 or 2 more dishes. 8 dishes we were ok but not full. Still... great place would def go back again!

Everything was perfect except for one extremely loud table that ruined the experience for everyone in my group. We weren't sitting within their vicinity but heard their entire conversation really clearly. I would have hoped that there would have been some guidance from staff to preserve the atmosphere given that they have a silent phones and no children policy. Apparently absurdly loud conversations of less than ideal dinner time topics is acceptable.

Had the omakase tasting menu which is a truly exceptional Japanese culinary experience! The food was delicious and supplemented by a large sake offering. The waiters are very helpful and knowledgeable and the inside has a traditional Japanese feel.
